ST. GEORGE'S CHURCH. REPORT 2017-2018.

We have had another very busy year at St. George’s. Sunday services have continued with a Holy Communion service on the 4th Sunday, the usual celebrant being Canon Linda Church. John Marshall, lay reader has been a huge support covering two Sundays a month, and latterly one a month due to ill health. Claire McGinley covers occasional Family services or a Morning Praise service and we have been very blessed with Preachers coming to take our Morning Praise / Family services. Congregation numbers are slowly increasing, with a great joy to welcome new people both Sundays and during the week. Special services such as Harvest, Mothering Sunday and Pet Service well attended by both the Village and School and a great Blessing to have Bishop Stephen and Rev Natalie Andrews take our Christingle service and with two Baptisms.

We said a sad farewell to Rev Julia Chamberlin in September as she moved to a new job as Chaplain at Hinchingbrooke Hospital. Rev Natalie Andrews is now our team Vicar and we give thanks for her Ministry.

Tuesday evenings we have informal hymn singing and band practice at Church which has grown in support.

Wednesday 9-11am ‘Pop In’ at St. George’s serving Coffee, Cake and chat with a growing fellowship.

Wednesday's, in term time, we have the whole school (100+ children) in Church at 2.40pm -3pm for Assembly with Stephen Dove, and Sarah Baltensperger, and from September Dave Moller (youth Pioneer) and Carolyn from Ridley Hall. followed by 'Messy Church', for children and parents with Craft, Cake and fun and games bible themed.

Thursday 6-7.30pm is Brigade for school age Boys and Girls run by Jane Dunseath and team, the WiFi is used regularly by Brigade members who now have a Printer and Laptop up and running. We continue to fundraise for this.

Thursday 1030am a team from St. George's presents an 'Open the Book' assembly in School, a brief re-enactment of a bible story with the children's participation.

The monthly 'Dragon Club' for all adults, continues well with Tea, Chat, Cake, Quizzes etc and a programme of invited speakers. We have had some extremely interesting talks, including ‘the Bobby Scheme’, ‘ Stephen Dove – planting a new Church, Christchurch in Ely, Prickwillow pumping station and the Alzheimer Society.

In |November we had a Remembrance tree, when for a week before Remembrance Sunday there were night lights in the Church for people to attach a message as desired to remember someone or event and hang on a tree in the Churchyard, Jane Dunseath very kindly switched these on and off each night/morning.

We greatly value the support given us by Rev Chris Hill in all areas of Ministry, Linda Church, John Marshall and Stephen Dove and team. It was a great joy to have Julia Chamberlin as our Minister and we thank her for all the love of God she shared with us. We are very thankful for the Ministry of Rev Natalie Andrews.

The Church is always open in daylight hours. To book Baptisms, Weddings or Funerals please contact Rev Natalie Andrews.

Thanks Stan Martin for grass cutting and Alan Hall, Tony Shaw and Doug Harper for keeping the Churchyard tidy and cutting back bushes.

Thanks lastly to Gill Norman our wonderful and hardworking cleaner who keeps us all tidy!
