Vision StatementSara DavisTarleton State University Vision Statement Teachers not only educate the people of our future, but they also shape and mold students. The qualities teachers with hold are so unbelievably amazing. Strong leaders, inspirers, and believers are the qualities I see a teacher having. As a future teacher, my purpose is to instill strong teacher qualities, provide a safe comfortable learning environment, and push students to their fullest potential to achieve their goals. Teachers have a huge role in their student’s life. A student’s education is what can shape their future in many ways. With having that much control of molding a student, I feel like a teacher has to have certain qualities. Being a leader is one of the biggest qualities I want to have as a teacher. Leading the students in the right direction of their education, and guiding them in their studies is so important. Also, I want to be inspiring to my students, show them that learning is such an important thing, and that I have an abundant of love and passion for what I am doing. I believe that, “A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning” (Community 2008). I believe this because growing up my teachers gave myself and other students so much inspiration. This is what pushed myself as well as others to succeed in school. Letting the students know you believe in them and that the sky is the limit when it comes to their education will help them grasp the fact that they have the potential in learning; which is a huge encouraging factor for a student.Not only do I want to have strong qualities as a teacher, I also want to provide a safe and comfortable learning environment for my students. “A great classroom environment comes from the heart, not the wallet. It’s built on love, laughter, and a feeling that everyone belongs” (Elizabeth 2015). I remember most of the classrooms I was in when I was a student the teachers made them feel as if we were safe, welcomed, and cared for; which are my goals for my classroom. When a student does not feel comfortable where they are, you can sense it. I feel like not providing a safe comfortable learning environment for students restricts their learning ability. I know there will be times I have students where my classroom is the only thing stable in their life, so I want to make sure I make it as comfortable and safe for them as I possibly can. With strong qualities and a safe learning environment I feel as if the next thing I need to do is show the students I care and want to push them to their fullest potential to achieve their goals. “Students don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care” (Community 2008). Showing the students that we care for them and that’s why we teachers are pushing them each day will make them want to reach their goals. As a student I was always pushed by my teachers to do my best and it showed me what potential I had, knowing that they cared is what kept me going. That is what pushed me through many years of schooling and I want to do the same to my future students. I will push each individual learner to his or her fullest potential and show him or her that they can do it. Leaders, inspirers, and believers are just a few qualities that teachers have. Teaching is so much more than just coming to school every day; teachers are shaping and molding the people of our future. I want to have all of the qualities as a teacher, and make sure the children have a safe comfortable learning environment every day when they walk into class. I will push students to achieve their goals, and show them that the sky is the limit.
