Hi and welcome to this accompanying video my Jargon Buster. Here is how it works. By the end of this video you'll know the terms used in a Jargon Buster more clearly as well having being introduced to some of the key relevant websites. So let's have a look at the Jargon Buster in pictures. The first thing I'd like to talk about is what I call attacking intent. It's a phrase you'll hear from me often during a live chat. Attacking intent comprises of shots on goal and corners during a game, let me explain. Here is a screenshot taken from the William Hill website, I recommend William Hill's coverage especially in-play because they provide some excellent statistics. Attacking intent for me comprises shots on target, shots off target and corners. In this particular match we notice AIK 3 shots on target, 7 shots off target, 5 corners. College Europa, 1 shot on target, 2 shots off target and a single corner. Who do you think has the attacking intent in this match? I would argue AIK with their 10 shots in total and 5 corners. Why do I include corners? Think about it, where are AIK when they're taking their 5 corners? The majority of the team will be in College Europa's penalty area, so that tells me that AIK are spending more time in their opponent's defensive third than anywhere else and that could signal as all important goals. Then late here see, scoreline at the end of that match, that attacking intent for AIK soon showed itself with an 89th minute winner.Next in the Jargon Buster is a simple concept of backing. That's what you traditionally think of when you're a punter, backing a team or specific outcome. For example if you thought that Spurs are going to win, back them to do so. As we'll be using Betfair predominantly for our DRT trading if you want to back an outcome think blue, so if we fancy Real Madrid click on the blue place your stake as simple as that. So we'll click on the match and I'll show you how that presents itself in the match odd market. So we click on Real Madrid and we'll win ?9 and 12p, if Real Madrid win we'll lose ?10. If Sevilla win or if the match is a draw, that's simply backing, you're looking for a team or an outcome to win.Betting Exchanges, betting exchanges is where bets are placed and layed by individuals and are matched against each other. A simple Google search for the term betting exchanges will bring up any number the most famous of which is Betfair, its markets Matchbook, Betdaq is probably its biggest competitor and then we have Betfair which I've already introduced to you too in the earlier video. When we're talking about an exchange on Betfair, make sure you choose exchange. We have the facility to back and lay. BTTS, sometimes during a live chat on Twitter I'll use the abbreviation BTTS, this quite simply stands for thinking that both teams will score. Click on a football match of interest and on the left hand side of the screen you'll see the list of all of the football markets that are available, one of them is for both teams to score market. As you see here, both teams to score, yes, it'll be a 1-1 or a 2-2. Both teams to score it'll be a nil-nil or one team will win to nil.Cash out, this is a new facility at Betfair which allows you to lock in a profit or cut your losses during a match. Cash out is only available in in-play markets where the yellow button is shown, if you'd like more clarification on the cash out facility at Betfair click on cash out here and there will be an accompanying video to help you.Let's look at an actual market and I'll show you when any of these markets are cash out markets. You'll see this square with an orange circle in the middle. This signifies that you can cash out for a profit or a loss while the match is in play. The Correct Score Market, sometimes I'll refer to it in a live chat as CS because Twitter of course has limited words, so quite simply the correct score market what will the correct score be after 90 minutes. We've clicked on a match of interest, the correct score market will appear, shown in the homepage or you can access the market itself by clicking on the correct score on the left.We start off with nil-nil at the top and on Betfair the markets generally go as far as 3-2, 3-3, after that any other home win will cover any other score after 3-3 so i.e. one team scoring 4. Any other away win will cover any other correct score with the away team scoring 4 or more. Any other draw will be a 4-4, 5-5, 6-6, 7-7 et cetera. We have the ability to back any of these correct scores and also the ability to lay a correct score. So let's say for example we want to lay the 1-1, by laying the 1-1 we're effectively backing every single other scoreline. That's very powerful to have the ability to lay a correct score in a 19-runner market.Decimal Odds, exchanges use decimal odds. Decimal odds make it easy to show incremental price changes and for you to work out your returns from a bet so stake multiply the odds equal your return. If you back a selection or 2, 10 for a stake of ?2, your total return will be ?18 which doesn't account for the commission from Betfair. In this particular market we've got decimal odds of 10.5. Now, if you click your mouse, or hover your mouse over you'll get the fractional version let's choose at 7, place our stake of ?10 and it will pay out ?57.60 which includes commission normally will pay out ?60. So that's 7 minus 1 multiplied by your stake will be your return. That's decimal odds, it's far easier to trade with decimals than with fractionals but by hovering your mouse you can get a taste of what the fractional odds are for each of the decimals.Enhanced odds, the essence of DRT is to delay, by delaying we can back a fancy team at odds far better than prematch. We can lay an outcome at odds far shorter than prematch. I refer to backing a team at better odds as enhanced odds. You might hear me refer to that within the live chat, no you know what I'm talking about. Here is an example of enhanced odds. This is a Betfair price over volume chart and it just tells you the history of the price as the match was being played. So something happened here to this team Hammarby and then they reacted, you could have backed them at enhanced odds of 25 and then they plummeted back down to odds of 2.5 let's see what happened. Here is what happened, Falkenberg took a 0-3 lead before half time. Hammarby scored 3 second half goals to make the final score 3-3. In Twitter I would have said, back Hammarby at enhanced odds 0-3 down, those enhanced odds would have been odds of 25, 25 to 1. As the comeback continued, their odds could have plummeted to 2.5 you would have backed a team at about evens at odds of 25 to 1, and made a great trading profit. That's what I mean by enhanced odds. The Football Coupon. This is a list of football matches being played on a particular day. If you're at a website such as William Hill you can access the coupons via the daily match list or the particular day in question they'll show these by competition or you can be shown the daily coupon at a bookmakers by time. Here we have the time.At a betting exchange such as Betfair click on exchange, now you have the option here to click on the in-play football or I will go to the football here. You'd be provided with the coupons for the upcoming days or for specific competitions on the left here, you could choose a specific competition.Let's look at the English Premier League and Betfair will single out the football coupon for the English Premiership. If you want to see the coupon for the particular day in question we return by clicking on exchange football and click on the day in question's coupon. This will include all league matches that specific day.As we are traders, we want football matches which will turn in-play, that's important. Because you cannot trade a match which does not go in play. You will then be presented with a coupon in time order with the back and the lay odds. If you want to click on later matches then use the next button at the base of the coupon. This is a list of the coupon at Betfair in-play, make sure it's in-play in chronological order. As I say you have the alternative to choose your specific competition of interest. The hallowed green screen, it's what we all want as traders, it's quite simply a term used by us traders to describe a situation where all possible outcomes return a profit. This is a good example of a green screen, profit has been spread on all outcomes in this horse race. Whoever wins this horse race you will win €11.42 or €11.43 that's a green screen.Contrast that with this particular match featuring England's under 21 squad. You have a break even if England under 21 or Romania under 21 win the match, you have profit guaranteed on ?58.90 if the match is a draw, this is not a green screen you only profit if the match is a draw, you break even with any other outcome. We as traders should be disciplined to create green screens only. The half time market and the half time score market. On Twitter I will abbreviate half time to HT to save space, this is the match odds market for the first half effectively. Who will win at half time, that's what this market is asking. The half time score market is a favorite of us DRTers, what will be the score at half time? At DRT we usually use the half time score market to lay a nil-nil score. Let me just show you these 2 markets. So again we're at the Real Madrid match. The half time market can be found here, get out a click if you think Real Madrid will win in the first half back them. If you think Sevilla will win in the first half back them. If you think the match will be a draw in the first half back the draw. We can also back 2 outcomes in the half time market. We could lay Real Madrid which effectively is the same as backing Sevilla or the draw. We could lay Sevilla which is effectively the same as backing Real Madrid to be winning at Half time or for there to be a draw at half time, or we could back both teams by laying the draw.Remember this is just the result at half time. The half time score market is effectively asking us, what will be the score at half time. A favorite for us DRTers is this nil-nil scoreline and to lay the nil-nil. What that's saying is, by laying the nil-nil in the half time score market we want at least one goal to be scored by half time.In-play betting. That's the ability to allow bets to be made while a race or a match is in progress and is a basis of DRT strategy. On Betfair, there is a specific in-play coupon and where you see a green background and a white tick that signifies that the match is in-play. There is no football in-play at the moment. When you click on today, and that will provide you with a chronological order of matches, football matches, Tennis or any other sport which is in-play.You can access the in-play football coupon by clicking on exchange and then football. You can access it either via the day's coupon itself or scroll on down, click on more in-play football. Remember, this must be turned on, you can only trade in-play matches.In-play stats. These are the statistics which develop as a football match is being played and used to determine if any one team is dominating such that usually it consists of shots on and off target, corners, possession, yellow cards, red cards, penalties and goals. I have a specific video on in-play statistics, I'd just like to take you to one or two sites where you can access in-play stats for free.Where you see a live center next to a football match it signifies that you'll be able to access in-play statistics by clicking on that football match. I return to the bookmaker by clicking on an in-play football match and clicking on statistics you will get their excellent free in-play stats coverage which covers all of the main statistics you will need to make decisions in-play. Shots on target, shots off target, corners and red cards are the key statistics that I use. Betmaid is a new application which will allow you to access in-play statistics on your mobile phone or on your tablet.Laying, this is where you're betting that something won't happen like anything too good to be true there's a catch. Should your selection win you'll pay the backer and his winnings could be a lot more than your stake. In this particular match we are interested in the matched odds market and we want to lay Sevilla. I want to win ?10 here so if Real Madrid win I win ?10, if it's a draw, I win ?10 but this is what's called a liability. If Sevilla win, because I'm acting like the bookmaker I've taken someone's stake, they want Sevilla to win I want Sevilla to lose. I will have to pay out ?34. The liability is calculated with the odds. Let's say for instance that I want to lay the nil-1 and I want to win ?10, can you see, great we have all the other scorelines running for us but if this match happens to end nil-1 I will have to pay out ?190. That's the decimal odds minus 1 multiplied by your stake, decimal odds minus 1, 19 multiplied by stake equals 190.Laying is all well and good but you might have to pay out a considerable amount of money if your lay goes on to win. Liquidity, that's the amount of money available to bet in a particular market and also refers to the amount of money that can bet at specific odds shown underneath the odds displayed for each selection. We want to see liquid markets. Illiquid markets mean there is not enough weight of money within to allow us to back and lay our odds we would like. Here I am on Betfair. I have chosen a specific match for it's lack of liquidity. Now, let's have a look at the correct score market, there is no even any odds on this left hand side there is marginal odds in the right hand side. This market has nothing matched, this market has nothing matched, you see matched GBP zero. Now let's compare and contrast with a match which is called the punters imagination. In this particular match we have already ?171,800 matched all of the markets are full to the brim with odds available for the backer and the layer. The correct score market has a decent amount 11,000 matched. By the time this match kicks off this amount will be into the millions that is a liquid market. Liquidity can also be measured by the amount that is available for us to back and lay underneath the odds. Draw your attention to the 1,518 here. That tells us ?1,500 is available to lay at these odds, 187 is available back but if you look at 1.94 odds, ?3,000 is available to back here, that's a very good sign of liquidity, the liquidity is even bigger in this over and under, no 0.5 goals market. ?60,200 is available to back at odds of 1.05 that's a good sign of a good liquid market. The Live Chat, live chats for DRT members are held on Twitter at DRT club or at the website drt.club. Live chats enables you to follow my trades as much as being played and also keep you informed of trading opportunities. So here I am at the DRT Twitter. The address is @drtclub you'll see there and I tweet as often as I can. I've done some 25,000 tweets so far, you can contact me via the notifications and I will also provide you occasionally with some good lessons to learn such as sharing with you some photos of matches and statistics and the old one of Patrick Duffy the man from Atlantis. I won't go into the back story there. There we have it.At the weekends during a busy football season you'll be able to access the live chat via drt.club, click here and you'll be alerted as to when I'm doing a live chat via the website, the words via Twitter will be missing. You can access the live chat in two different ways, here and here. There is always going to be a archive of live chats when I do them on the website so you can have a good look, at the day gone at some interesting ways to learn.A matched bet. If there is enough liquidity on the exchange to cover your bet it will be accepted and marked as a matched bet. This is because your request to back or lay a selection has been matched with an opposing bet from another exchange customer. So we head on back to the matched odds market here. If I place the bet for ?1,750 on Real Madrid that will be matched because there is ?1,787 in the market at that particular price. If I wanted to place the bet for ?1,800, ?1,787 of that will be matched, the remaining ?13 will be unmatched. The amount you see underneath the odds are the amounts that you can get matched at.An unmatched bet conversely, if the odds you've asked for are not available or there is not enough liquidity in that market your bet will be unmatched until someone matches it. You can monitor your unmatched bets and alter the odds or cancel them if you don't want to wait. As I said in this particular example if I place the bet of ?1,800 on this particular odds there is only 1,787 that's available to match, the remaining ?13 will enter here in the lay section and that will be waiting to be matched.Odds on, when a price is odds on, the price has fallen below 2 decimal odds. Can you tell me the odds on markets in this particular screen. I can see 2 over, note 0.5 goals is odds on because it's under 2 as a backer you don't want to be backing a odds on ?100 to win ?4.80. As a layer you'd love to be backing a odds on, to win ?100 it costs you a measly ?6. The Real Madrid odds are just odds on, 1.96 is quite near to 2.00, but if you back a odds on and you can lay odds on I always encourage my DRT members to lay if they can at odds on because you will always, let's move the odds down a bit, your risk is always lower than the amount you can profit from that's the ideal for us as layers. The match odds market, this is traditional football market where you can back a team or lay a team, a home team, away team or the draw. Here is the matched odds market, you've got 6 options in the matched odds market you can back that team will then have to win, you can lay that team will have to lose. You can do this 6 times, you've got 3 versions of backing and 3 of laying. The over and under goals markets we generally focus on the over/under 2.5 goals markets which is based around the number 3, i.e. will there be less than 3 goals scored, under two and a half goals in a match or 3 goals or more scored over two and a half goals. There are a number of over and under goals markets but let's focus on over and under 2.5 again accessible on the left hand side. If you think there will be less than 3 goals back under 2.5 goals or lay over 2.5 goals it's exactly the same and you'll get pretty much the same return. If you think there will be 3 goals or more back over two and a half goals or lay under two and half goals.Soccer Stats, soccer stats refers to the stats that are available to us from . If during a live chat you'll hear me say just heading off to soccerstats this is where I'm going. I will look at a particular match or a league by clicking on that league's flag and any upcoming match. I will click on the team of interest and look at their next match by clicking on the stats link and once that comes up you can compare and contrast 2 teams who are going to be playing each other in a few days time. The stats go from the matches played through the current sequences, to the scorelines versus teams at different areas of the league, to the half time, to scoring. Half time stats, full time stats, for goals scored, when those goals are being scored and a lot more besides. Get to know this website it's an excellent statistical website, you can use prematch and while a match is being played just to check certain statistics.Software, as Betfair has evolved so has third party API software. There is an app to increase your trading efficiency over and above only using their website. I personally use Fairbot from binteko simply because I'm a happy customer and I've used it for years. Here for example is Fairbot from binteko to access the soccer markets, click on soccer fixtures and the days date and the match of interest. The markets are exactly the same markets that would appear on Betfair.I use this because the trading can be automated and I can lay stake as liability with one click. They will also provide me with green out facilities i.e. the same as the cash out facility at Betfair but in my mind more efficient, there are also any number of other betting options for you as well as automation of betting. At if you head on over to apps. you can have a mooch around and look at the various applications and software which is available to compliment your trading at the website. You could like to look at specific software such as trading software for football, for windows and at any price then you can do that. The Sportsbook. Betfair operates both a Sportsbook and an exchange. Think of a Sportsbook as your traditional bookie where punters can only back an outcome. At the Betfair exchange punters can back, lay, and trade an outcome. Just be aware you newcomers to Betfair not to look for backing and laying via the Sportsbook, the Sportsbook as I say is just a bookmaker. You can only back with the Sportsbook the exchange is what you're after. Click on exchange and you'll have full access to the backing and laying facilities at Betfair.Trading out. This is a term I sometimes use during a live chat. If you hear me advice you to 'Trade Out' I'm telling you to quite simply take your profit and run.I hope this video has helped bring some of the terminology within the Jargon Buster to life. The terms we've looked at during the course of this video are all used very regularly by me at DRT so it's important you have a good grasp about what they mean. That's it from me, thanks for joining me for this particular DRT tutorial as ever, please feel free to contact me via the website, thank you.? Canonbury Publishing ................
