Includes 6% PERS contribution, family benefit package, LTD and Life Insurance.PURPOSE:The Library and Instructional Technology Teacher (LITT), fosters a creative, flexible learning environment, making the library a vibrant and inviting learning space and an essential part of the learning community by curating a collection of books, applications and digital resources that inspire a love of reading, nurture student innovation and create college- and career-ready critical thinkers. The LITT leads the school community in developing enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers and ethical users of information through the development and administration of a strong school library program. In addition to teaching students, this position leads professional development for classroom teachers and supports the integration of instructional technology into classroom practice. NATURE & SCOPE: The Library and Instructional Technology Teacher plans lessons, instructs students, and supports and collaborates with teachers in the areas of technology and information literacy instruction. The LITT teaches students critical thinking skills, digital citizenship and information literacy skills so they can solve real-world problems and be prepared for college and career success. The LITT works to create inviting library spaces where students create, experience and innovate; a place where students collaborate with other learners and outside experts; a place that invites engagement, discovery and transformation; a place that encourages reading for pleasure and for information. Serves as a resource for media assistants district-wide. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Conducts oneself in the best interest of students, in accordance with the highest traditions of public education and in support of the District’s mission.Teaches students how to think critically about information and use the information to show mastery and content knowledge, including underserved populations.Provides group and individual student instruction, assesses student progress and evaluates student activities aligned to instructional technology standards.Collaborates with classroom teachers and specialists to co-teach and model instructional strategies and effective integration of inquiry, research and innovative teaching skills and tools into the learning process to support change, innovation, technology integration and risk-taking in instructional practice.Actively contributes expertise to classroom teachers by providing a variety of current print and digital information resources to best match student inquiry needs.Collaborates with Teaching and Learning and Instructional Technology administrators, peers and TOSAs to develop and implement procedures for selection, acquisition, circulation and instructional resource sharing in the area of information and technology literacy; ensuring instruction is aligned to the mission, goals and objectives of the District.Participates in the curriculum development process at both the building and District levels to ensure curricula include the full range of literacy skills (information, media, visual, digital and technological literacy) necessary to meet District content standards, educational technology standards and to develop lifelong learners.Identifies, selects and organizes digital and print resources, with support from Library Services, to reflect academic content and promote student learning, aligning selections with the school’s unique population and needs.Evaluates, promotes and uses existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning and inspire students to innovate, create and discover. Curates, maintains and distributes resources so all students have equal access to technology and information to meet learning needs. Promotes and teaches the ethical use of information, including copyright, fair use and licensing of intellectual property.Provides guidance to district library staff, library volunteers and library student assistants, if applicable.Plans and implements school and District professional development opportunities, focusing on research skills, innovative use of instructional technology and assessment of instructional technology learning standards.Maintains effective working relationships with District and school personnel and community members, including those from diverse cultures or backgrounds or those who speak limited or no English. Cooperates and networks with other libraries, agencies, and professional organizations to invite outside experts and community members into the school to share learning experiences with students. Complies with all district policies and procedures. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS: Shows leadership by placing the library as the epicenter of learning and implementing District vision of future-ready initiatives.
