If this is too much, select 1 reading rotation and 1 writing rotation! Things to Know:Students will be:sitting and reading books independently Listening to books read aloud to them Practicing Word WorkPracticing Working on Writing (WOW)Task:Rotation 1: Read to Self: Choose a book to read independently for 10 minutes. Don’t forget to record it on your 100 or 200 Book Challenge.Rotation 2: Word Work: Practice reading and writing your MCWs for List 8 (and any previous words you need to practice. You can do this by rainbow writing in 3 different colors, fancy writing, writing on a chalkboard/whiteboard, abc order, use magnetic letter activity on SeeSaw, or create your own favorite way to practice your words.Challenge: Instead of just writing your words, try using them in some 5-Star sentences. How many MCW’s can you get in one sentence? You can also do this on the Magnetic Letters SeeSaw activity from last week. Rotation 3: Listen to Reading: Listen to someone reading to you by asking a family member to read to you, going on Storyline Online, Epic, or another source of listening to reading using the resources on my teacher site, such as the astronauts reading from space! YouTube usually has many stories too…remember Miss Becky!? Rotation 4: WOW: Work on writing 5 star super sentences. Use the “Read it, Fix it, Write it Sentences”. You will be reading a sentence, thinking about how you can fix it to be a 5 star sentence, then writing it as a five star sentence. Challenge: There is also a “Read it, Fix it, Write it Paragraph” sheet. This one has the same sentence but written as one paragraph. It is a bit more challenging to correct. If you want, you can complete this one instead. Writing (This is a continuation from yesterday)Overview:Writing an informational writing pieceEstimated time: 10 Minutes each day for the weekExplanation: You will be using your sentences from last week to write a book about your animal. This will be a week-long assignment, so take your time and work in chunks. (Think 1-2 pages a day.)Things to Know:Students will be:Re-reading their sentences from last weekCreating a book using the sentencesAdding illustrations to match the facts writtenTasks: Find your animal organizer with sentences from last week. If you want, you can also re-read your animal book too. Take a look at the sample book I posted on SeeSaw. You may choose to use the Book Creator App on Clever or paper from home to make the book. If you have an I-Pad or received one from the district, you might be able to install the Book Creator App if it’s not already there. Things to Know: Students will be:Looking or going outside to check the weather Using weather words to describe today’s weatherCreating a picture of today’s weather Task:Please go to your “Grab bag” and look for the packet called “My Weather Data Record Book”Open to the first page and read all the weather words to a parent, grandparent, or sibling. These should help you start thinking about how you can write about today’s weather. Go outside or look out the window. Look at the second page in your book and write today’s date.
