Online Resources – Section 2

This is a site with lesson plans in both english and spanish.  It would be authentic for my school because I will have lots of spanish speaking students.

This is a PBS site that has lesson plans for teachers teaching about communities.  Community is a topic that 2nd graders in my school district learn about.

This website would be appropriate for a first or second grade classroom who is developing thier math skills.  It is authentic for students who like animals and have a concept of numbers and addition and subtraction.

Here is site that I really liked for it involves soccer and creative writing. The students can go on the computer and type out a poem or story, as well, as look at other childrens' writing. I think that this would be great for 4th-6th graders and having a translator in the computer can enable children from all language backgrounds to communicate.

If you go to the games section you can choose on a character and then do

different games for reading and sound recognition.

This is another great website for reading and is very kid friendly.  It has

audio that helps students know which letters say what.

This website is an online make your own snowflake. It can be integrated into a math lesson to allow students to see spacial awareness. It is something they can figure our and design on their own and having it online they aren’t wasting paper while they figure out what cuts need to be made to design pretty snowflakes. This can then be taken into a class activity used to decorate the classroom

. This is a great site for a 2nd grade classroom because this is age where students have a fascination with dinosaurs. This site shows 3-D very realistic animated dinosaurs and fun facts about them as well as dinosaur related activities for students to do.

I absolutely love this website and it is a great page for 1st graders to really grasp their counting skills.  They can either learn to count by 2s, 3s, etc.  It also gives them a chance to work on their creative skills in coming up with the answer to the riddle.  When the puzzle is complete then a word will appear to work through their reading skills.

This website will take a little work to set up, but if done correctly and really pursued I think it would be a great resource for my students. My students I will be teaching for my student teaching are in 4th grade and are in a very "ritzy" area. They are going to be all white(probably) and all in the same socioeconomic class. very little diversity between them. I am guessing that these students have never really experienced a different culture so I thought that this website would be authentic because they would get to see and experience just a tiny bite of of kids their age culture.

I know that all of my students will be interested in a variety of things this website gives all subjects and a variety of activities.  They are third graders.

3rd and 4th graders interested in a variety of subjects would enjoy this site.  It is created like a computer game, which lots of students are interested in.  It provides a lot of stimulus and interactive opportunities.

I like this because it allows the child to research the internet easily to

find the answers to the questions!

I am working with second grade students.  In the school I am working with there are a few native spanish speakers and russian speakers.  All of the students have some english speaking ability.  My students need some help with their math skills.  They are interested in doing things with their friends and going outside to play.  The web site I found has many different games but I picked game 8 which has students practice their subtracting skills while bowling.  All the games would be good to use though.

This website is for 4th grade students who are interested in sports and also need some extra help in the math department.  This would be authentic because it is acutally helping the students learn math skills while still having fun at the same time!

earth.

The children are in the 1st and 2nd grade, they will be working very hard at

reading so the Jan Brett site will be use full to use with the book readings inthe classroom. The earth website will go with community learning in and outside the community and maps.

I am not sure what my student teaching placement is so I chose to find a resource for a K-1 classroom. This is a great website/interactive game for Kindergarten/1st grade. It helps kids work on their word sounds which would be a good tool for ESL learners. It allows them to click on letters to hear the sounds and then try to match up letter sounds with objects. There are many other games on as well.

Many of the students in my 5th classroom are going to Native American, some

activities that involve their culture would be nice.  It is authentic

because it applies to their home life, culture, etc.  Also, most students

love to experient in the kitchen.

I will be student teaching in a frist grade classroom in Othello.  This site is for all the Spanish speaking students.  It has several short stories that they can print out and read at home with their parents.  This will help them learn to read in their native language, and they can write short responses to what they read.

I am unsure of where I am going to be teaching and to what grade. I chose, however, a second grade class in a mostly white town or suburb. This interactive website is authentic for students because it encourages children to value, respect and better understand a variety of cultures, perspectives,

traditions, languages and experiences because they will not be exposed to that in their daily suburban lives.

This site/lesson plan is applicable to all students. It is authentic because all students are a part of some type of family, no matter the size or shape. Each student's family is different.

An interactive Web site with a timeline teaching about the United States;

geography and important dates in history.  It would be a great tool for

students learning the states, for students who are new to the country to

learn about the history of the United States.  It would be a great idea for

those who are visual learners.

The website is for all children who speak english and/or spanish. The website is authentic because it offers a variety of exploring opportunities.  Stories, dress-up activities, art and vocabulary activities all are things that children may do outside of school.

This would be a web site for third grade or older Spanish speaking students.  It would be fun for students who enjoy basketball because after they get the answer right the player shoots the basketball and you watch him do a cool trick to make the ball go into the basket.  The addition problems start out using three digit number so that I why I chose third grade.  The program also goes into multiplication and map reading ect.
