Appendix A – setting up the OPOS profile

2357 connection to OPOS 3x profile – NCR USB

When you create a new profile, you must use the 3x service, called NCROposSO.Scanner.

[pic]

Choose 7837-3000/4000, depending on the scanner you have:

[pic]

Click on 7837-3000/4000, then click OK and Create.

Select Connection Type “Serial or NCR USB”

[pic]

Now you need to find the (virtual) com port the scanner is assigned (COM1 – COM20).

[pic]

The problem with using NCR USB on the 3.x profile is that there is no comm setting called “NCR USB” that automatically goes and looks for which virtual com port the scanner is on. Profile 3x makes you choose the exact one and plug it into the profile yourself.

How to find it?

The HSM USB Serial Driver installed that finds and displays what is on what virtual port. Click on “Devices and Printers”

Find in “Unspecified” area below screen shot.

According to this, my 2357 is on COM11, so the final profile for me would look like this:

Then click “SAVE”, and you can then run Local Attended diagnostics.

2357 connection to OPOS 3x profile –IBM USB

Setting up a 2357 for IBM USB is considerably simpler than setting them up for NCR USB.

The only requirement is that you MUST use 3x controls.

When you create a new profile, you must use the 3x service, called NCROposSO.Scanner.

[pic]

It will reconfigure itself and look like this…. Click save, then diagnostics if desired.
