Required of
All Students
Initial Completion Timeframe
Traditional Prelicensure Students Plan 1 ? Between May 1 and July 31 prior to sophomore year. Certifications from other timeframes may be accepted at the discretion of MCN. Plan 2 ? Between May 1 and July 31 prior to junior year. Certifications from other timeframes may be accepted at the discretion of MCN. Accelerated Students--Between December 1 and January 31 prior to beginning of accelerated program. Certifications from other timeframes may be accepted at the discretion of MCN.
Requirement Details
Must be CERTIFIED by American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Students may contact the Red Cross, American Heart Association, local hospitals or fire stations to find a CPR course, but make certain the course is AHA or Red Cross certified.
Online courses are acceptable if a hands-on skills check has been completed as well. Online-only courses are not acceptable.
Acceptable Proof of Completion
Copy of front and back of CPR card Memo from CPR instructor indicating the student's name, date, and name of
course completed. Card or certification should be sent to MCN upon student receipt of it. Email from American Red Cross or American Heart Association with active link to certificate
Frequency of Renewal
Undergraduate students are required to update this annually. Renewal is required 1 year from issue date. Students have until the end of
the month to submit proof of renewal (e.g., if card was issued January 8, 2015, then student has until January 31, 2016 to submit proof of renewal). A student must complete the full CPR course initially, and can complete a renewal course every year after that.
