America in all interactions with D.A.R.E. stakeholders in D.A.R.E. America Region V. D.A.R.E. America Region V is comprised of:AlaskaArizonaCaliforniaHawaiiIdahoNevadaNew MexicoOregonUtah???WashingtonD.A.R.E. stakeholders are represented by a wide array of persons having an interest in D.A.R.E., substance abuse prevention education, student health and welfare, to include, but not limited to:Elected/appointed federal, state, county and municipal governmental entitiesExecutives and leaders of law enforcement and educational institutionsParents and studentsProfessional and fraternal organizationsThe Regional Director is the “Brand Ambassador” for D.A.R.E., serving as the liaison between D.A.R.E. America and all concerned parties. Among the highest accountabilities of the Regional Director is generating awareness of D.A.R.E. curricular components, achieving stability and expansion of current program implementations, and accomplishing new program implementations. The Regional Director reports to the D.A.R.E. America Director of Regional Operations. In addition to duties and responsibilities, the Regional Director carries out other actions/duties as assigned by the D.A.R.E. America Regional Operations Director.QualificationsAt least 5 years of recent and relevant experience in an executive or management capacity within a school or law enforcement agency.Serving, or having served recently, in a leadership capacity within a relevant professional association or society.A Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree, post graduate degree from an accredited college or university.Experience in the following areas is required:Development and implementation of training programs.Coordination of law enforcement or educational support activities.Must reside in D.A.R.E. America Region V.Ability to travel, some multi-day overnight travel, to make presentations, participate in meetings and conferences.Flexible to work extended work hours and/or weekends as required.Physical demands of the position may require:Extended sitting or standingWalkingOccasional lifting, not to exceed 50 lbs.Must possess an unrestricted valid drivers’ license.Desired Skills:Effective problem solving skills.Efficient with Office Suite and Word.Efficient/proficient administrative, office and office equipment skills (computer, printer, scanner, fax, telephone and some A/V.Efficient administrative skills.Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing internally, externally and with the media.Model inclusive excellence through specific actions that support the mission and goals of D.A.R.E. America and staff.General understanding of the external environment and how it affects school-based law enforcement efforts throughout the region and specific communities within the region.Ability to influence others of the benefit/importance of an idea plan of action and to gain support or commitment.Strong negotiation skills and ability to reach mutual points of agreement and benefit among peers and colleagues.Producing completed staff work evidencing a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.Ability to work well under pressure and set priorities.Ability to supervise coordinate or facilitate programming and personnel directly and indirectly.Conduct and successfully complete primary and ancillary duties/assignments in a timely manner and submit such as completed staff work. Ability to work with people of all ages and environments. Quick learner and ability to be assertive.Ability to follow direction and work independently as required.Strong organizational skills & advanced multi-tasking abilities.
