Covid-19 Public Statement 03/20/2020

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is publishing this statement to the public in order to explain our stance on COVID-19. Attached to this statement is our Mission statement, Vision, and Core Values. Sheriff Anthony and his leadership team have already changed, and adapted the way we do business in response to COVID-19. We have shared all necessary precautionary information from the CDC to our staff, and are not panicking, but we are preparing. Franklin County has amazing leaders, and an even more amazing citizen base. In order to meet the needs of our office, safety of our staff, and protect our community, we have been preparing and planning for the worst, but praying and believe this is just a temporary setback. Please do not panic and allow our human responses to make this natural event worse. Listen to the advice of your local, state, and federal leaders and stay optimistic; this too shall pass.

In line with our Mission Statement, we are issuing the following operational notifications:

Pistol Permits: Authority – Title18 §6107, §6109

• We believe this is one of the most essential functions of the Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Anthony knows many of you personally and understands the respect and appreciation this County has for law and order and supports the exercising of a lawful citizen’s right to bear arms; thus, we are continuing to accept and issue licenses to carry.

o If you need a new permit, or need to renew: please download the application at the following link: , and mail it to our office based on the instructions on the application. If you do not have access to the internet, please call in and we will mail you an application.

Court Operations:

• The link between the Sheriff’s Office and the Courts runs deep. We continue to support our court system through this difficult time. Sheriff’s in Pennsylvania protect the integrity of the criminal justice system; this will continue within the guidelines of the Supreme Court and President Judge Meyers.

Field Operations:

• We have been prioritizing all services offered to the public, and will continue to complete all functions of our office, when necessary, and within public health and safety guidelines.

• Protecting the community and preserving the peace has long been a duty of the Sheriff. Our Office will be increasing our presence in the community during this difficult time. This is to show that we are still here fulfilling our obligation to protect the citizens, and to show and give support to all of our partner agencies within Franklin County, if requested.

Should any member of the public have questions, please call our office at 717-261-3877.

Don’t worry, be happy,

Dane M. Anthony
