The American Revolution ExperienceAfter watching this video as a class (). You and your partners will assume a random role of a person living in America in 1775 and react to events during the American Revolution in journal form. One key idea of this time is that the idea of independence took years to mature (most did NOT want it in 1775), and even after it was declared, there was a diversity of voices within the country.Goal: Review the major events of the American Revolution while also exploring the multiple perspectives of people at the time.Possible Roles: Loyalist African AmericanNative AmericanPatriotic WomanLoyalist WomanLoyalist Landowning White MalePatriotic Wealthy White MalePatriotic poor White Male SoldierBritish citizenEvents/Ideas to respond to in journal:Lexington and ConcordDeclaration of IndependenceTown Meeting about the advantages and disadvantages of going to war with Great Britain (1776)Battle at TrentonBattle of SaratogaWinter at Valley ForgeBattle at CharlestonBenedict Arnold’s ‘Treason’Surrender at YorktownAn entry of your own, at any time during the warJournal Requirements: Create a Powerpoint for your group and upload it to Unified. Write your assigned perspective at the top of your ‘journal’ with a small bio about yourself, age, family status, location, occupation, etc.For each event, you and your group should include the year and explain what happened; give enough detail so I know that you know why that event was important. Then, react to it from the perspective of your role. Maybe you are proud of the Continental Army, or you despise them. Be as creative as possible to include information about your home life, your economic situation, and how the war is affecting you. Perhaps you could even create a fictional family member that you disagree with to up the ante. Each journal entry should have between 5-8 sentences. You may rely on outside research as well as your notes.Timeline: Forge Video: Experience: : American Experience: Arnold: Experience: & ................
