Operating System

It performs basic tasks, such as:

➢ Recognizing input from the keyboard or mouse

Most Operating Systems have the following:

➢ A window: A rectangular frame on the computer screen through which you can view a file of data or an application.

➢ Menu Bar: shows the names of the pull-down menus available

➢ Title Bar: runs across the top of the display window

➢ Toolbar: Displays menus and icons representing frequently used commands

➢ Taskbar: The bar across the bottom of the Windows screen that contains the Start button

Microsoft Word

➢ A word processor developed by Microsoft

➢ A processing program used to create, format, save and print letters, reports, newsletters, manuscripts, signs, certificates, and other documents.

Title Bar

-displays the program name, and the name of current document displayed or being edited.

Menu Bar

-contains the names of the command menus currently available.

Office Button -provides access to the only menu Office 2007. When you click this button it shows the following menus: New, Open, Save, Save As, Print, Prepare, Send, Publish, and Close.

Standard Toolbar

-Contain buttons that provide shortcuts for the most commonly used Word Features, such as opening and printing document.

Quick Access Toolbar

-provides access to the most common Word commands including Save, Undo, Repeat and Copy. You can customize, add or delete buttons on this toolbar.

Ribbon

-It contains the command organized in three components:

Tabs- represents the activities you perform and contain related groups

Groups- organized related commands. Group name appears below the group ribbon.

Commands- appear with each group.

Control Buttons -They minimize, maximize, restore and close the window

Microsoft Excel

Dan Bricklin- The father of modern day spreadsheet.

Microsoft Powerpoint

➢ Developed by Dennis Austin and Thomas Rudkin Of Forethought, Inc.

➢ In 1987, it was renamed to "PowerPoint" due to problems with trademarks, the idea for the name coming from Robert Gaskins.

➢ PowerPoint was officially launched on May 22, 1990, the same day that Microsoft released Windows 3.0.

PARTS AND FUNCTIONS

Standard buttons- found at the top under the title bar of MS-Powerpoint, they are the save, undo and redo buttons.

Clipboard- where the cut/ copy/paste located.

Slides- where the new slide, reset, delete, layout located.

Font- where the font style, font size font color and other formatting of text located.

Paragraph- where the alignment, bullets, numbering and indentions of paragraph located.

Drawing- where the autoshapes and other format of shaped, alignment and fill color of object located.

Editing- where the find, replace, and select located.

Insert Menu Toolbar- located next of home menu, its a toolbar menu compose of a group of command buttons, namely: tables, illustration, links, text and media clips .

Design Menu Toolbar- this is next of the insert menu, its a toolbar menu compose of a group of command buttons, namely: page setup, themes and background. 

Animation Menu Toolbar- located next of design menu, its a toolbar menu compose of a group of command buttons, namely: preview, animations and transitions of this slide.

Slide Show Menu Toolbar- next of animation menu, its a toolbar menu compose of a group of command buttons, namely: start slide show, setup and monitors.

Format Menu Toolbar- this is next of view menu, its a toolbar menu compose of a group of command buttons, namely: insert shapes, shape styles, word art styles, arrange, size. 

File Menu Button- its just the logo of the Microsoft Corp., its a rounded or circle form, position on the top left of the user interface. This is use as the file menu toolbar where you can save, new template, open, print and etc.

Zoom In Zoom Out Sliding Bar- located right side bottom of the window, this use to increase and decrease the size of the presentation slide without using the command button of a toolbar menu.

Guide Bar or Note Bar- this use to apply a presentation slide note of the application package.
