It can be something like make a cup of tea?A recipe that you like making with pictures? How to clean your hamster cage? Or something imaginary like how to use a ghost catching machine! You could order these by alphabetical order. You could complete a crossword and answer grid on squared paper (squared template below) and write a clue for the meaning for someone in your household to complete. You could complete pyramids for each word, write a definition of each word (what it means) or include each in sentence. Task 2 Over the next few weeks, we will try thinking of different openers to sentences. These are also called fronted adverbials – Watch this PowerPoint as a reminder of the different ways that you can make your writing interesting by varying your sentence starts. You could have a go at completing some of the sentences on the end slides rather than the sheet below if you’d prefer. It also has a hangman game. the sheets folder and this week try the “When” sentences. Match the starts to the sentence ends. You could try and come up with your own alternate when starts instead or then write some of your own sentence endings that link to the given starts. Copy the sentences out so that you can also practice keeping your handwriting neat and joined. MathsTables Keep up that tables practice making sure you know the facts being asked out of order as well as being able to count in multiples. The Y3 target is to try and know your 2x ,5x, 10x 3x, 4x, 8x, by the end of the year. Do you also know the division facts.? i.e. How many 3’s make 27? What is 27 divided by 3? If you are confident with these there is nothing stopping you getting a head start on other tables that you will focus on next year. a speed grid and use hit the button to practise this week. Formal column subtraction practiseRevise formal methods for subtraction including understanding using pictures what the exchange is really about. Watch this video from White Rose maths and pause at points it asks you to work out questions. You could use ?1.00 10p and 1p to represent the place value counters if you wanted to work them out practically like we did at school. The 2* sheet from this twinkle sheet will let you practice. The 1* sheet doesn’t involve any exchange and the 3* sheet provides more of a challenge maths and reasoningPeter has 3 identical coins in his pocket.Jane has 3 silver coins in her purse, but they are not all the same. What is the most/ least they could have each? Is it possible that they could have the same amount? Solution in the bottom of the activity boxPEKeep active with a video of your choice if not getting out to walk or bike ride regularly in the week. You have the gonoodle channels to choose from or still have Joe from previous weeks. Joe Wickes ComputingFrom our comments from home learning responses it seems the coding is proving enjoyable. This week the code is for an art area. You can use the features of turn and repeat like we did with logo to experiment with setting some drawing pictures in Code. use paint to create a picture of anything that you fancy. Maybe a home for the bird from the story? TopicScience- Keep an eye on any plants you are looking after.Do you know what soil is made of? Look through the PowerPoint in the soils session to see. You do not have to make the mini compost bin at the end of the presentation although could if you wanted. An easier experiment is to carry out to look at the sizes of particles is to put some soil in a glass jar with some water and shake it. Leave it for several days for the water to go clearer. What has happened to the larger particles of rock? (even if they look like tiny grains they are made of rock) What has happened to the smaller ones? Can you see layers? This 3 minute video explains what you might see. – Why not join in with tis body percussion video copying the moves and rhythms. Depending on when you look in the week 1st or 2nd link will work as each class stays online for only a week. The man leading used to be part of Stomp – a group who perform rhythms with everyday objects and body percussion. You can watch clips of this here. – more than one person joins the group if you stick with it – just clapping – Music with broomsGeography Over the next 4 weeks imagine you were writing a tourist guide to Scotland. You could produce this on paper or make a power point presentation. You can look at the PowerPpoints and webpages linked below for information or just research places of interest on the internet. Think about where people might want to visit. Rivers, Mountains, The capital City. Lochs and Castles. If you put interesting facts about the place or explain what people can see and do they are more likely to come. This will also be good practice of your Literacy skills as well as maybe your ICT ones using cut and paste for pictures which we practised in ICT. ActivityI may not be thanked for this week’s suggestion but this link has lots of easy to follow designs for lots of different types of paper aeroplanes! Have a go at the Nakamura which I have shown some of you in class. Let us know which flew best or if you manage to make one of the trickier designs. SolutionPeter most is ?6.00 least 3pJayne least is 20p 10+5+5 most is 90p 50+20+20They can have the same amount – Peter 3x10p = 30pJane 20p + 5p + 5p = 30pAll parents can access remote learning via Twinkl.
