Description of Robert B. Cialdini Dissertation Project Prize in Psychology
2017
1. Purpose: The Robert B. Cialdini Dissertation Project Prize in Psychology was established to recognize the efforts of a Ph.D. student who is doing work excellent scholarship in an area of psychology other than social psychology.
2. Eligibility: Eligibility is determined by the following criteria:
(1) The recipient shall be a doctoral student in the Department of Psychology.
(2) The recipient must have completed the proposal stage of his or her dissertation.
(3) The recipient must be enrolled in 1 of 5 areas of doctoral training (Behavioral Neuroscience, Clinical, Cognitive Science, Developmental, or Quantitative Methods).
(4) The award is not renewable - i.e., a student who has received the award may not receive the award again.
3. Application Process: To apply for this award, applicants must submit the following documents: (1) The application form; (2) the dissertation proposal; (3) a non-technical 1-2 page executive summary; and (4) A current vita. In addition, they must arrange for a brief letter of recommendation from a psychology faculty member.
All materials should be submitted electronically to Dr. Polemnia Amazeen (amazeen@asu.edu), Chair of the Awards Committee, Department of Psychology, by 5pm on Monday, March 20, 2017.
4. Selection Criteria: Beyond meeting all of the eligibility criteria, the primary selection criterion is the quality of the dissertation proposal. If, in the circumstances that all factors are equal among candidates, a preference may be given for students with the need for monetary support.
5. Prize: The recipient will be honored at the annual end-of-calendar-year Psychology Department celebration. The prize, if made to one recipient, will be approximately $800. In case of a tie, the award is to be shared equally among recipients. All applicants will be notified by April 7, 2017 and the funds will be awarded during the Fall 2017 semester.
