Associate Minister – with a responsibility for Discipleship, Small Groups and PrayerOVERVIEW This is a time of transition for St Andrew’s – looking into new ways of doing church and seeking to become a new wineskin that can hold the new wine of the Kingdom, whilst honouring the past. We want to become a church that makes disciples who make disciples - wholehearted followers of Jesus who love the Bible and are led by the Spirit. St Andrew’s is part of the New Wine Network and so we are looking for someone who shares New Wine’s values. We have now become a Resource Church with the aim of planting churches and developing new fresh expressions within the Oxford Diocese and being a resource church to High Wycombe and the local area. St Andrew’s is one of four new Resource Churches in the Diocese that have secured funding from the Strategic Development Fund. This new Associate Minister (AM) role is a key leadership role with responsibility to build and nurture faith within St Andrew’s church family. This new post will enable Simon Dust to more fully focus on resourcing other churches and pioneering new Missional opportunities. JOB SUMMARY We are praying for an energetic, self-starting, pastor and teacher with clear leadership gifts and who can be committed to working alongside the Lead Pastors, Simon and Debbie Dust. They would be part of a Senior Leadership Team helping St Andrew’s to grow a healthy, outward-focused church to impact our local community and beyond. This would most likely be someone who is either coming to the end of a curacy or has been working for a church in a leadership capacity - and is looking for more responsibility and further opportunity to grow as a leader. They would have a distinct role within the leadership team to bring a teaching and prophetic gifting alongside the other gifts the senior leaders bring. RESPONSIBILITIES The AM would have responsibility for three main areas within the life of the church.Discipleship, Teaching and EquippingWith the aim of forming mature disciples of Jesus Christ, the AM will develop a clear pathway for people in their walk with Christ. Helping every member of the church to identify and grow in their spiritual gifts and to step out in new ways of serving in the church, workplace, and community. Taking a leading role with preaching, leading and planning our main Sunday services. Small Groups and leadership developmentOverseeing the small group communities, raising up and training leaders, developing a missional focus. Identifying and encouraging younger leaders. Helping to resource other local churches by offering Leadership Development courses across the town and Deanery. Developing and raising up both mentors and mentees within our mentoring programme. PrayerAs a church we long to grow deeper in our life of prayer and increasingly to seek God’s guidance, vision, inspiration and empowerment in everything we do. You will oversee all levels of prayer from corporate gatherings to personal prayer that is deep and wide and learns to listen to the Holy Spirit’s leading using all the spiritual gifts He has given. This would include 24/7 prayer, prayer ministry teams and other creative forms of prayer. PERSON SPECIFICATION Your Spiritual Life & Theology ?
