REMINDER TO ALL MEMBERS

Lockheed Martin's Workplace Security policy, CPS-565 is strictly enforced. One provision of the policy is a workplace free of weapons, which includes Firearms, Ammunition, Bows and Arrows. The club must emphasize this policy to our members. Additionally, a state issued CCW permit does not supersede nor over ride this LMA policy.

Members wanting to store firearms or archery equipment during the day ONLY, must contact Gene Adamson (1-1531) or Dave Mulholland (7-3674) for access instructions.

MAIN GATE CHANGE

Notice to ALL SHFC members and agencies that utilize the ranges. We have had several incidents that have necessitated a change to the Wadsworth gate locking approach. Please read and follow the instructions below.

* Starting August 21st there will be only one lock and a single length of chain on the gate.

* That lock will be "owned" by Plant Protection

* Plant Protection will release the single combination to Ridge Riders, SHFC, Robinson and anyone else with a need to know.

* If anyone else needs in - they call Plant Protection (a sign with their contact info will be posted at the gate)

* The gate is to be kept closed and locked at all times. So - We cannot leave it open for events, it must be closed and locked if we are not going through it. i.e. you will have to escort your guests. If you find it open, lock it. The Archery shoot last weekend was coordinated with Plant Protection.

Our SHFC lock will be removed.

Contact any member of the Board of Directors to obtain the new combination.

The Sergeant and Greenleaf (S&G) locks operate as follows. First clear the lock by turning the dial clockwise at least three turns (clearing the lock). Then with the dial on zero, "0", turn the dial four turns counterclockwise to the first number, then clockwise to the second number. It should open. Don't get frustrated, it's a lock, you're the thinking portion of this.

The SHFC interim combo is still the number listed on your SHFC Badge.

Please challenge all personnel found inside the gate to show their badge. If the persons challenged cannot or will not produce their badge when asked , please report them immediately to Plant Protection.

annual bull Roast

The Club Bull Roast was once again a great festival of eating and sitting with fellow club members. The final tally was over 90 members and guests. We had great food from Hog Heaven and side dishes from members of the club. Door prizes of gift certificates to Sportsman's Warehouse were awarded to attendees and the weather was not too hot, with a slight breeze and comfortable for all. Please watch your newsletter for next summer, this is an easy and fun way to enjoy the club, meet the people and not have to work. The Club thanks the Board and club members that brought special dishes and brought their families to enjoy the atmosphere.

aNNUAL SHFC sIGHT-IN DAY

Sight-in day will be 8th September 2007 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the 100 yard range. Lockheed Martin and ULA employees and their guests are invited to come sight-in their firearms. SHFC member escorts will be at the Wadsworth gate at the top of the hour from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm to escort employee and their guests to the 100 yard range. Contact Bill Renkel at 303-935-1144 for further information or to volunteer.

REDDING RELOADING EQUIPMENT

The 50% discount on Redding equipment that SHFC is currently enjoying will expire on Dec 31. Based on this years volume so far, next year our discount will be 46%. This is not much of a difference, but if you want to maximize on the discount let's order this year. November 15th is the cutoff for all 2007 orders. EMAIL me your order before then and I will process it, but the sooner, the better. You snooze, you lose. I will not place any new order during the Christmas break; too much of a hassle. Thanks. Vito 7-9527 [vito.deangelis@]

GARAND SERVICE RIFLE MATCH RESULTS

Here are the results for the Garand/Service Rifle Pin Match held on August 24th and August 26th. Congratulations to Tony Christensen and Corey Kroll who were the overall match winners of the Garand semi-auto and Vintage bolt action divisions respectively. Pins are awarded for the first three place winners in both divisions.

ARCHERY 2007

Archery Hunting on LMSSC property notes:

Please notify Mitch Arnold and/or Jim Gilmore of any animals taken on the LMSSC property.

It is a SHFC requirement that all animals harvested on LMSSC property be taken in for CWD testing.

All archery hunters utilizing a RIFLE season tag but using archery equipment are required by CDOW regulations to wear 500 sq in of blaze orange including a blaze orange cap.

There is now a “keep out” zone that restricts personnel from be¬ing within a 600 ft radius of a hydrogen tank in the M-50 area – see attached map.

• People may not go into the keep out zone.

• If a true emergency situation exists in the keep out zone - call Plant Protection.

• SHFC members will be notified when this “keep out” zone requirement is no longer in effect

ATVs and No ID

Both SHFC and RRCI members have recently encountered ATV’ers with no ID, on the property. Plant Protection and Roads and Grounds have authorized ATVs for use during the course of their duties, but no employee/private ATVs or the like are permitted. If you encounter unauthorized activities on the property - contact Plant Protection 303-977-4646. Also contact Plant Protection if anyone you encounter is unable to produce required employee badge or authorized club identification. Do not become involved in confrontation –Call Plant Protection.

Alternative to Electronic Gate

As a result of instances where the electronic gate has been damaged, the club will use the manual gate that is located just pass the electric one (in bound) as a backup. The combination lock on this gate will be the number listed on your SHFC Badge. Club member’s are still expected to "wand" their electronic gate card at the electronic gate for accountability. Signs are being placed that will Caution personnel approaching the gate(s).

shotgun Range use and combo change

We have experienced unauthorized use of the skeet range in the past few weeks. The machines were not safed in the correct manor. In an attempt to keep this from continuing, the bird house combination is going to be changed this week. A listing of certified trap and skeet range officers will be posted.

There was a lot of hard work expended in getting the high house thrower back and running after the house blew over this Spring. Please help use keep the hardware in a correctly maintained state by contacting a certified range officer if you can not shoot at our regularly scheduled shoots. Tim Anderson (303) 269-5367 (W)

Summer 3-Gun

Due to popular demand, we have a summer 3-Gun shoot on the last Saturday of the month in August (25th), September (29th) and October (27th). The shoot will start at 4:00 pm and run to about 7:00 pm. Course setup starts around 3:00 pm. For those new to 3-gun, it is similar to our Wednesday night practical pistol except we shoot the pistol, shotgun and semi-auto carbine/rifle for a combination of accuracy and speed. Since the Summer 3-Gun runs concurrent to practical pistol, we’ll have a heavier emphasis on the rifle and shotgun. Ammo requirement is roughly 30 rounds of pistol, 100 rounds of rifle, 50 rounds of shot gun (mostly birdshot and occasionally 10 rounds of slug and buckshot).

SKEET SHOOTING IS BACK ON

The repairs to the high house have been completed. Thank you to all of you who helped us get back on track. We will be shooting every Tuesday evening until October 30th. Shooting will start at approx. 5:00 pm and will continue until everyone is done. Please contact Tim Anderson at (303) 269-5367 to ensure that there will be shooters planning on attending every week.

HIGH POWER RIFLE (Service/Match Rifle/CMP)

High Power matches are conducted every off-Friday, finishing by noon or 1 PM. Effective 1 September 2007, the matches will begin at 9:00 AM.

We welcome all types of high power service or match rifles; some choose to shoot the Garand or M1A but the AR15 is the choice of most. The club has two AR15s, and a spotting scope with stand which are available to use during matches. Ammo is also available at a reasonable price.

Check the club website for the regional schedule as well as articles for the aspiring high power competitor. For further information, or to check out club equipment, please call Gene Adamson (1-1531) or Dennis Casey (1-7197) with any questions.

YOUTH SHOOTING SPORTS PROGRAM

SHFC will once again be offering a youth shooting sports program this year. This will consist of Firearm Safety Training, Small Bore Rifle, High Power Rifle, Shotgun, and Muzzle Loading. We will also be hosting Boy Scout shooting events. Winners at the state level will get an expenses paid trip to the Grand American Tournament. If you have an interest in the Shotgun Program contact: Bill Wilson 303-979-4547 olbullets@ He will provide you with the details and sign up information.

CALLING ALL JUNIORS!!!

Service Rifle and Match Rifle competition is one of the fastest growing competitive facets of the shooting sports, with lots of opportunity to compete on a local, regional, and national level. Competitors are ranked based on previous competition results (Marksman, Sharpshooter, Expert, Master, High Master) allowing individuals to compete with others of similar ability and experience. We are looking for Juniors (18 and below) to participate in SHFC’s Junior High-power program. Juniors will use SHFC’s Bushmaster CMP rifles, and other equipment. SHFC will provide individual coaching, pay for attendance at the above clinic, pay match entry fees and provide match ammo. For additional information, please contact Bill Wilson at Olbullets@, Dennis Casey at 1-7197, or Gene Adamson at 1-1531.

BULLSEYE MATCHES

The next Bullseye match will be held on Sunday, 02 September 2007 starting at noon. We will be following the NRA Pistol Rule book.

25 Yards outdoor course, competitors who can only fire one class of firearm will be scored in their own group. For additional information, contact Adam P. Davis @ (303) 977-3380.

PRACTICAL PISTOL LITE

We shoot Practical Pistol Lite on alternating Mondays. So, that will mean that we will hold the matches on September 17th. No PPL on Labor day. The theme has changed to address more personal protection and actual defensive shooting and less timed shooting. If you want to see how fast you can shoot a course, this is not the activity for you. Make sure to bring your semi-auto pistol (9mm up to 45 cal), holster, 3 magazines, magazine holster and at least 50 rounds. Plus we will include a stage for the tactical shotgun. Starting time will be 5:00 pm at the Pistol House and continue on for about 2 hours. Call Tom Frickell 303-971-5493

PRACTICAL PISTOL LITE – LADIES ONLY

We shoot Practical Pistol Lite for Ladies Only on every other Monday through September from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Pistol House. So, that will mean that we will hold the matches on September 10th and 24th. This is a new activity and is for women shooters only - men can watch, only if you are with a shooter, but will not participate. Men may instruct if part of the official instructors’ group, otherwise they must be silent and patient. Participants can shoot anything from a .22 caliber up to a .45 caliber, revolvers or semi-autos will be allowed. Holsters are not necessary but would benefit the learning process. Men, tell your friends, wives, daughters, granddaughters about this and get them out to the range. It is your chance to shine. Ladies, it is your chance to have some great fun and enhance your skills. So far we have had least 12 ladies attending regularly and they are learning a lot and having a great time. Ages vary from 16 to a little younger than me, and I was a bartender on the ark. Call Tom Frickell 303-971-5493

COWBOY ACTION SHOOTING

We shoot Cowboy Action Shooting (SASS) at the Pistol House starting at 5:00 pm and every other Thursday from then on. September 13th shoot cancelled due to Plant Protection training use of Pistol range. Remember – LEAD ONLY BULLETS for pistol and rifle and #6 or smaller lead shot only for the shotgun. SASS is now above 80,000 members, so that many cowboys can’t be wrong. If nothing else, come out and watch. Call Tom Frickell 303-971-5493
