November 2005
Club Elections for 2006 – Nominations November and December
Do you want to contribute to the direction of the club? Come and throw your name into the potential for a club officer position. Nominations at the November and December General meetings.
REMINDER TO ALL MEMBERS
Lockheed Martin's Workplace Security policy, CPS-565 is strictly enforced. One provision of the policy is a workplace free of weapons, including firearms. The club must emphasize this policy to our members. Additionally, a state issued CCW permit does not supersede nor over ride this LMA policy. Firearms are only allowed onto the property under the following conditions: Skyline members in good standing, signed in at the gate, must proceed directly to and from the range.
LAST PERSONAL PROTECTION IN THE HOME CLASS
The last Personal Protection in the Home class to be held this year. Classroom instruction will be November 3rd and the 8th. The range day will be Saturday the 5.
SAFETY CORNER
The Range Rules are being revised for the new range road and range additions. Mandatory training will be required and many classes scheduled. 2006 badges will NOT be issued without this training. Starting in January 2006, access to the range will be from Wadsworth Blvd, not through the main gate. In addition, starting in January 2006, the guards will no longer accept or store firearms at the main gate. The board is currently working to obtain a new secured area for storage of firearms during the day. Remember, just because the guards will no longer be storing our firearms at the front gate, you are still not allowed to bring them onto the facility.
CIVILIAN MARKSMANSHIP PROGRAM (CMP)
If you need more information about the shoots, CMP in general, want to be added to the shoot notification list, or have a military-style rifle that you want to know if you can use, call Gene Adamson @ 971-1531, or email at gene.adamson@ Starting October, the CMP matches will be going back to a 09:00 am start time.
YOUTH SHOOTING SPORTS PROGRAM
SHFC will be offering a youth shooting sports program this year. This will consist of Firearm Safety Training, Small Bore Rifle, High Power Rifle, Shotgun, and Muzzle Loading. We will also be hosting Boy Scout shooting events. The programs are COED, and open to all youths between the ages 12 through 19 and have a valid safety or NRA firearms safety card in their possession for admittance to the LMCO range. A parental permission form is required.
YOUTH SMALL BORE

We also have an opportunity to register one or more teams (5) in the National Shooting Sports Foundation, Scholastic Trap Program. These teams will participate in the Colorado State Shoot. Winners at the state level will get an expenses paid trip to the Grand American Tournament. If you have an interest in the Shotgun Program contact: Bill Wilson 303-979-4547 olbullets@ He will provide you with the details and sign up information.
Shotgun Shoot
The shoots will be held on November 12th from 1:00 – 4:00 pm and the 26 th from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Loaner Shotguns are available in 12 ga as well as 20 ga youth models. Light target ammo available at $4.50/ box or you may bring your own. Contact Bill Wilson 303-979-4547, olbullets@
ARCHERY EVENTS (MITCH ARNOLD)
The regular archery season has been completed and listed below are the known harvest results on LM property
Bull Elk - Randy Stolba
Mule Deer Buck - Mitch Arnold & Ron Rockwell

None of the animals harvested on LM property so far this season have tested positive for CWD.
A number of archery hunters will be continuing the hunt thru January 31 utilizing various rifle season hunting permits (by archery methods only). In addition to the normal SHFC rules and CDOW regulations - please be aware that the requirement to wear 500 in2 of blaze orange & a blaze orange hat is in effect during the remainder of the hunt. Contact Jim Gilmore and/or Mitch Arnold regarding any animals harvested on Lockheed Martin property.

SKEET SHOOTING
Organized skeet is over for the year and will start up again in the spring.
3 GUN MATCH
The first "3-Gun Event" of the year will be held the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, Nov 26th with a start time of 09:00 am. Contact Dave Mulholland, x7-3674
SILHOUETTE SHOOTING
The matches will be held on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month.
The 1st Saturday will be 22 RimFire only (not 22 Mag). First Match for Rifle, followed by a match for pistol. Any sights, any configuration. Offhand only. The ranges: Chickens @ 40yds, Pigs @ 50yd, Turkeys @ 75 yds, and Rams @ 100yds. 10 targets at each distance. Open and optical sights will be scored as separate classes. Same with Rifle and pistol.
On the 3rd Saturday, Centerfire Rifle followed by Centerfire Pistol. Again, any sights or configuration. (open and scoped will be considered different classes). Ranges: Chickens @ 50yds, Pigs @100 yds, Turkeys @ 200 yds, and Rams @ 300yds. Any position allowed other than prone. (elbows on bench is OK as well).
Pistols: Any position, and rests allowed on the bench (Hey, give the “short-tubers” a little break)
We will start at 09:00 in the morning, come one, come all. Basic rules: Prep time. Then 2 minutes to fire 5 shots. Then another 2 minutes for the 2nd 5 shots. Target scoring and reset and relay will rotate to the next distance. To score, the target MUST be knocked OFF the stand. That’s it…nothing fancy…JUST PLAIN FUN
If you have questions (or want to help), contact: Al Shinogle 720-622-5960
The centerfire silhouette match was held on August 20, 2005 with the following results:
Keith Davis 39 6mmBR
Gregg Riggs 37 7mm WSM Rem 700
Jack Riggs 30 7-08 Rem 700
Mike McKaig 27 .243 Savage

Benjamin Go 14 .270Win Savage
Darrell J. Ray 14 .223 Rem AR15

Note: Dennis Casey shot the course using a shooting jacket and sling in the sitting position, scoring a 24 with a Bushmaster in 223 Rem. Thanks to all the participants for helping set up and put away all the steel targets. And for not complaining. Both are much appreciated. A special thanks to Keith Davis for offering to run the match in the absence of Al Shinogle & Ron Gorski and for all the driving downrange between relays.
The Rimfire Rifle silhouette match was held on October 01, 2005 with the following results:
Shooter Score Firearm
'Vito' DeAngelis 30 Mossberg 144LSA
Don Hodder 21 1/2* Browning
Jay Rothhaupt 21 Remington 597
Tony Christiansen 19 Mossberg 44
Jack Riggs 18 Norinco
Darrell J. Ray 17 Ruger 10/22
Ken Boettcher 12 Winchester
Keith Christiansen 11 Mossberg 44
* Note: Don Hodder neatly spun one chicken target 90 degrees without knocking it from the stand, so the other participants decided to award him half credit to recognize his amazing feat.
Thanks to all the participants for running the match in the absence of both Ron Gorski and Al Shinogle, including setting out and retrieving all the steel targets.
REDDING RELOADING EQUIPMENT
The 50% discount on Redding equipment that SHFC is currently enjoying will expire on Dec 31. Based on this years volume so far, next year our discount will be 46%. This is not much of a difference, but if you want to maximize on the discount let's order this year. December 15th is the cutoff for all 2005 orders. EMAIL me your order before then and I will process it, but the sooner, the better. You snooze, you lose. I will not place any new order during the Christmas break; too much of a hassle. Vito [vito.deangelis@]
FREEDOM ARMS REVOLVERS
Want one or two? I have a dealer account set up with them and a dealer price list. Please call me if you are interested. Volume discounts are also available, but don't have any details as of this time. The arrangement includes new guns as well as modifications to your existing gun, components, accessories and gunsmithing. vito 7-9527
NEW INVENTORY ITEMS
Several new reference books have been added: Big Bore Sixguns by John Taffin (great reading if you love big bore revolvers; but a word of caution - after reading this book you will want at least a dozen new guns, so if you don't have the cash…remember I warned you), Norma Reloading Manual 1st Edition (contains lots of new data for the new short fat & big fat cartridges), The Combat Auto by Bill Wilson (covers mostly 1911 design and modifications), The M1 Does My Talking by Robert Bruce (a neat little book on the M1 Garand with mostly pictures). New equipment: Lee cast bullet hardness testing kit (actually produces relevent BHN values), Thumbler’s Tumbler Model B case cleaner (designed for washing cases using liquid cleaners…especially good for cleaning really cruddy tarnished cases or black powder fouled cases). Contact me if you want to check any of these out. Vito 7-9527, 303-730-3459.
