From the Desk of the Pastor...

THE TIME TO TAKE AN EPIC JOURNEY IS FAST UPON US!

Beginning on Wednesday, October 25TH, at 7:00 PM, Saint Martha Parish will be offering Epic: A Journey Through Church History for twenty sessions on Wednesday nights in the Seminar Room off of the gym. (I apologize for erroneously writing Wednesday, October 4th in the last bulletin article.)

The sessions will consist of a video presentation of about an hour followed by an added presentation by Father Dalin with his own handouts. The evenings will last about one and a half hours. If you can make them all that is great. If you only wish to attend on a topic of interest to you that is great as well.

We will begin in the first class to discuss the events before Christ was born that we give you a better understanding of the events and the world Christ was born into in the Gospel. You will learn of the early persecutions of the faithful, the early councils and their impact of us today. The role of the missionaries, crusaders, and scholars of our Faith. What lead to the schisms and the Protestant reformation as well as the counter reformation of the Catholic Faith. The Church during the World Wars as well as the Church in the USA.

We will be meeting most Wednesdays (a schedule will be provided at the first session) but obviously not around the Thanksgiving and Christmas season.

If you wish to be a part of this journey into our history, please sign the sign-up sheets that are at all the doors of our Church.

God Bless and thank you for all you do for Saint Martha Parish!

Your Servant, Fr. Jonathan Dalin

Lent) . Parental instruction is required for the each child. See the priest

after Sunday Mass to set up baptism.

Sacrament of Marriage

Couples planning marriage should contact the parish office at least nine

months in advance. Weddings are not celebrated during the Season of

Lent.

Anointing of the Sick

Please contact the parish office at the onset of serious illness. On the

Sunday before you enter the hospital, please ask one of the priests to

administer the Anointing, so that the healing touch of Christ may come

to you in this beautiful sacrament.

Communion Calls for Shut-Ins

The homebound can be visited regularly by the parish priests and pasto-

ral staff and brought Holy Communion on Sunday by special ministers

of the Eucharist. Contact Sr. Claire if there is a need.

Funerals

Upon the death of a family member, contact the parish office so that a

priest or other member of the pastoral staff can visit to offer comfort

and help plan the funeral liturgy. Arrangement regarding time and

dates of funerals are made through a funeral director.

WEEKLY MEMORIALS

The Sanctuary Lamp which burns before the Blessed Sacrament reminds us of the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. It would be a wonderful way to memorialize a loved one who now enjoys the heavenly banquet. If you would like the lamp to burn in honor of a loved one, either in Church or in the Rectory Chapel, please send a suggested offering of $10 to the rectory office with the name of the person remembered. We will publish these memorials in the bulletin. In addition, a donation of $25 will help supply the bread and wine which are used for the Eucharist, another fitting memorial.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS and LECTORS may pick up their schedules on the table in the rear of the church. If you'd like to be a Eucharistic Minister or Lector, please contact Art Calvo.

PARISH REGISTRATION AND MEMBERSHIP It is important that all Catholics within our boundaries be registered and active members of the parish. Circumstances sometimes change registration status. If you can answer "yes" to any of these questions, you need to be sure you are registered correctly in the parish. (1) Have you moved away from you parental home (not just for college)? (2) Have you recently changed your marital status? (3) Are you living with your parents, over eighteen, and not receiving your own mailings and envelopes? If any of these apply, please call the rectory office to update your registration status. New families moving into the parish can call the rectory for an app @ 215-6323720 Welcome!

There are a group of us who attend the 8:15 Mass daily. There is a smaller group who meet at 7:45am to pray Our Lady's Rosary in front of her statue. Our Lady has asked us to pray her Rosary daily. You are more than welcome to join us. We pray for the sick of our parish, our personal intentions, and for the intentions of Saint Martha Parish and of our Holy Father.

Once the Rosary is finished, Mass begins at 8:15. What a wonderfully peaceful way to start the day. Try it out for a few days, won't you?

Prayer to Saint Martha Dear Saint Martha, I have recourse in affection and confidence to your aid and protection. Comfort me in the trials and tribulations of life. By the great grace you enjoyed in lodging your Savior at your home, intercede for me and my family, that we may always have God in our hearts, and be provided for in our necessities, spiritual as well as temporal. Listen to the petition I now make of you (here name your petitions) and help us overcome all difficulties as you overcame them during your life on earth, Amen.

Red Cross Blood Drive sponsored by Mary Queen of Angels to be held in the gym on Saturday, November 25 (Time to be announced at a later date). Please mark your calendars. Contact the Red Cross at 1.800.733.2767 or visit and enter st marthas to schedule an appointment.

Are you not able to come and worship with your parish family on Sundays due to illness? Do you know of anyone in our parish who cannot attend due to illness? Contact the rectory at 215.632.3720 and we will arrange to have a priest come out to hear your confession and you will be placed on our Minister's list so that Holy Communion will be brought to you each week. Do not let your inability to come to Mass stop you from receiving the Sacraments.

Our SMS bulletin has become so popular that we can't fit everything we receive or want in our limited space. And, so, God created Flocknote. We have events going on at LaSalle College High School, Nazareth Academy High School, St. Katherine of Siena Parish, and so much more. Flocknote is a perfect complement to our bulletin. It is emailed to you every Friday. If you'd like to receive our Flocknote, just send your email to acalvo@
