Timberlake Cabinetry: A Division of American Woodmark Corporation Human Resources Policy or ProcedurePages2Title: Timberlake New Construction Technical Training Development Policy Date Issued1/2/15SupersedesNEWTitle: Timberlake New Construction Technical Training Development Policy .01 Purpose: The purpose of this policy is to provide a standardized plan for how technical training is rolled out to Timberlake New Construction salaried, salaried non-exempt, hourly, and temporary employees; as well as how it is maintained following the initial launch. .02 Applicability: This policy applies to the all Timberlake employees, including, but not limited to: General Manager, Ops Manager, Customer Service Manager, Field Supervisor, Builder Service Representative, Service Technician, Designer-Estimator, Sales Representative and any other future roles as well as temporary employees and employees filling in alternate positions on an ad hoc basis (i.e. cross training). .03 Exception Authorization: The Corporate Training Manager for Sales & Marketing or the Corporate Human Resources Manager for Sales & Marketing. .04 Definitions:New Technical Training: Creation of an original training program designed to target a specific learning deficiency or opportunity. Course Code: An individually assigned value tied to a specific course name in TrainTrack. This code is used in TrainTrack to assign a course title and the number of training hours the course takes to complete. Existing training: A training course that has already been approved and has an assigned course code. These courses may or may not be included on related employee’s IDPs. Grandfathered Employees: Employees who have demonstrated mastery of a particular subject and are not required to participate in new technical training directed at that topic. .05 Technical Training Development Policy: All new technical training initiatives should be completed with the expressed knowledge and approval of the Timberlake Training Systems Management Team and must include:A complete suite of training materials including job aides (Note: Training materials will include information on how a topic fits into the whole of the service center’s processes and explain why the topic is relevant to employees being trained)A plan to provide training to all applicable locations / employeesTraining materials to support future employees as they join the organizationA designated SME who is able to keep training materials up to date and available to assist with retraining of employees or other SMEsFollowing a thorough review and approval of training materials, the Timberlake Training Systems Management Team will work with the creator of the technical training to ensure:New training materials are placed out on the Timberlake Training website for common useNecessary updates to employee IDPs are completed in a timely fashion and are standardized across all Service CentersTraining materials are kept up to date through periodic auditsAll new training initiatives include parameters for the expected results or desired behavior changesDecisions to create, expand, or change training courses will be driven by fact based, data driven decision making. All training must be value added. Requests received for a training solution to a non-training issue will be escalated as necessary. .06 Procedure:Initiating a New Technical Training: Complete the Training Approval Form and submit to the Corporate Training Manager for Sales & Marketing to review and to receive a Course Code. Create a suite of training materials to support learning for existing employees as well as materials that can be used with future hires to the organization. Submit completed materials to the Timberlake Training Systems Management Team and the Corporate Training Manager for Sales & Marketing for approval. All materials will be made accessible via the Timberlake Training Website. Work with the Timberlake Training Systems Management Team to develop a plan for which roles should receive this training as well as identifying if there are any grandfathered employees who have demonstrated mastery and are exempt from the new training initiative. Rollout training per the established plan.Provide an SME contact who will be responsible for:Maintaining training materials Serving as a point of contact for employees with additional questions following the trainingMake any changes/updates to materials based on feedback from trainees and inform the Timberlake Training Systems Management Team if there are any updates. .07 Policy or Procedure Changes American Woodmark reserves the right to interpret, change, or revoke any of the provisions of this policy at any time without notification to employees. ................
