EXT. OUTSIDE THE TOWN OF DEERBOURNE – NIGHT

The forest holds terror—the promises of death itself as a habitation that harvests crime scenes, paintings that tell a different tale, one that holds no ending that sugar can conceal.

F.B.I. Agent MORRIS and teenager JASMINE FAIRBANKS are deep in the forest running frantic toward civilization. A blood thirsty terror follows—unseen sounds of their foot steps pounding against the earth embedded by their captors. Challenging the warped minds of the unseen, they have never made a mistake. The prey don’t know, but it’s already over they just get this time to stretch their legs.

Jasmine trips, Morris stops and goes back for her.

AGENT MORRIS

Get up!

She is back on her feet with an immediate focus on escaping the forest.

Their heavy breathing makes them easy targets and then the sound. Unmistakable the sound that haunts your nightmares and forces you to wake up before the big kill holds no hope for Agent Morris. The chainsaw blade escapes from behind one of the trees and slashes open his midsection.

JASMINE

(screams)

Oh My God!

She falls down ten feet from Agent Morris as the vision before her burns itself into her mind. Agent Morris falls to his knees and grabs his intestine with both hands trying to put himself back together. His facial expression is sad, no tears just the faint hope that this distraction will be enough for Jasmine to escape this nightmare. He looks up at the beast holding the object that is his metaphorical, “nail in the coffin.”

The chainsaw blade is shoved into the agents face ending his life.

Jasmine tries to scream, but the sound won’t reach her mouth. She backs up while continuing to stare at the one who has killed the F.B.I. agent. The figure can’t be seen, camouflaged in the dark shadow. The chainsaw blade peeks out from the darkness and reveals the chunks of bloody brain, bone, and flesh. The defenseless girl gets to her feet and begins running through the forest.

Survival is all Jasmine can think about, slightly to get back at the people responsible for this crime. The thoughts distract her from the metal rod that swings out from behind the tree and smashes her nose in. Close lined, legs fly into the air as well as the body’s perpetual motion, almost as if she was sitting down on a horizontal-chair blasting off toward the moon. The mangled girl falls to her back, the fight within her slips away as she sees the blurry figure of the Chainsaw-Maniac running to finish her off. The dark figure that hit her doesn’t seem to have the metal rod in his hands and she quickly notices the rod by her head. She knocked it out of his hands as her speed over-powered her assailant.

The Maniac stands next to his partner in victory and the Maniac plunges the chainsaw blade at the girls face. Jasmine is not finished just yet. The fight comes back to her as she grabs the rod and deflects the chainsaw blade away from her face.

The chainsaw plunges into the ground, Jasmine lifts her leg and kicks straight up lunching the Maniac into the air without his weapon in hand. She rolls back as the Maniacs assistant rushes her. Who’s the chainsaw-maniac now? Jasmine grabs the chainsaw, raises the gardening tool like a warrior wielding a sword, pulling back on the trigger ripping through the silence in the air.

JASMINE

Groovy.

Jasmine runs the assailant through the mid-section. The blade rips up from the stomach to the neck. The girl yells out like an animal, but the yelling is almost masked by chainsaws music. The Maniac’s arms wrap around her and pull her off of the twitching corpse.

Jasmine slams her head back and breaks the nose of her assailant. The Maniac drops her, shakes it off while she gathers her senses, and throws a punch into the back of her head. She drops the chainsaw and falls to the ground. The maniac rushes to the twisted gardening tool, as Jasmine tries to get back up. She looks up to see lights in the distance, street lights.

Jasmine bursts into a muscle thrashing sprint towards the town. The maniac raises the chainsaw high into the air and screaming to intimidate her from running further. This busted up fox refuses to be caught.

EXT. OUTSIDE THE BUCKING BRONCO HOTEL.

Jasmine rushes through the parking lot and past the main office. She turns the knob of the first door to find it locked. She bangs on the door.

JASMINE

HELP ME! SOMEBODY OPEN UP!

Jasmine continues down the rooms. The Maniac sees her trying to get into one of the rooms of the hotel. She bangs on the second door and no one opens up. The girl sees the Maniac standing, watching her. She rushes to the next door and the door opens before reaching it. Jasmine leaps into the room and slams the door shut.

The Maniac walks to the room slowly and revs up the garden tool. He can hear the girl on the other side of the door explaining the situation to the occupants of the room. The maniac raises the chainsaw blade and knocks on the door, taunting its occupants. There is nothing but silence on the other side. The maniac revs the chainsaw and attempts the shove the blade into the doorknob, when the doorknob turns and the door opens.

The Maniac is stunned to find someone brave enough to face him. A double barrel shotgun is shoved into his face. DEAN, who is holding the weapon, has a smile on his face.

DEAN

Hi.

The shotgun blast illuminates the doorway with light.

(CUT TO BLACK)

EXT. OUTSIDE THE TOWN OF DEERBOURNE – NIGHT

Dean, SAM and Jasmine are running away from the hotel and back into the forest.

DEAN

It could be me but don’t we go chasing after the hostages and not the other way around?

SAM

I think there is a little more to this.

JASMINE

We can’t go back out here. There are more of--

DEAN

Listen, we can’t stay in town, we just left a body outside the room that we were staying at. And we are already not liked by the authorities.

SAM

We need to start with your name. Are you Jasmine Fairbanks?

JASMINE

Yes. How do you know that?

SAM

My brother and I help people out of abnormal situations.

JASMINE

Why are the authorities after you?

SAM

That’s not important right now. There was an article about you and another girl with you, what happened to her?

Jasmine looks away in shame.

JASMINE

They have her.

SAM

What happened to her?

JASMINE

There are these crazy people out here that would be more than happy to turn us into furniture.

Dean looks around to see if anyone is in the forest.

SAM

Then tell us what we are walking into

so you can go back into town.

JASMINE

There is a whole village of people that

are completely out of their minds.

They eat people, some of them change

and look like monsters.

SAM

What do you mean change?

JASMINE

Some of these, people have the ability to do things that regular people can’t do.

DEAN

(off in the distance)

HEY!

Sam and Jasmine catch up to Dean. Sam stops before reaching the body. A split second vision runs through Sam’s mind, the body on the ground ripped open. Sam starts to cough and spit.

DEAN

What’s up?

SAM

Nothing.

Sam starts to throw up.

Dean walks to Sam.

DEAN

Sam what’s wrong?

JASMINE

What a panzee.

Dean looks over at Jasmine and smiles for a second.

DEAN

Yeah, well he’s my baby brother and not the one who looks like a bus parked on his face.

Jasmine smiles

JASMINE

Well aren’t you cute.

Dean smiles back.

DEAN

Thanks, wish I could say the same for you.

SAM

(to Jasmine)

What happened?

JASMINE

What?

SAM

What happened to this body?

JASMINE

What does it look like, he had his

insides replaced with a chainsaw blade.

DEAN

I saw another body over there. Who was that?

JASMINE

He was an F.B.I. Agent. He heard about my friend and me disappearing. He was also interested in the back story of some house out in these woods.

SAM

What’s her name?

JASMINE

Nicole.

DEAN

So we’re on a rescue mission.

JASMINE

No you’re not. She is one of them now.

DEAN

How many of them are there?

JASMINE

A lot, like a small populated town.

Sam looks over at Dean as if to tell him that they need to converse without Jasmine present.

DEAN

(to Jasmine)

What are we dealing with?

(CUT TO BLACK)

EXT. JUST OUTSIDE A VILLAGE – NIGHT

Dean and Sam are coming up on a village.

JASMINE

(voice over)

You’re dealing with some kind of cult. There is a village near the base of the mountain and an entrance to a mineshaft somewhere in the town. It’s in one of the two story houses I think. Any answers that you are looking for concerning this cult are deep in the mountain.

Dean and Sam stop outside the village. Dean goes through one of their bags to fish out a pair of binoculars.

DEAN

Are you going to tell me what happened back there?

SAM

I don’t know something kind of took control over me, like someone just walked over my grave.

Dean looks through the binoculars.

(THROUGH THE BINOCULARS)

People who look like zombies roam aimlessly around the village.

DEAN

Well that’s vague, anything else?

SAM

Well that’s all I have. I suggest we focus on what’s going on here.

Dean looks as if he doesn’t want to drop the subject.

SAM

How many people are out there?

Dean hands the binoculars to Sam so he can see for himself.

DEAN

I can only see ten of them. No telling how many are in the homes. There are three two story houses. My guess is it the one on the other side of the village closer to the mountain.

SAM

How do you want to do this?

DEAN

Flank the east side. We will probably get a better view from there.

EXT. EAST SIDE OF THE VILLAGE

Dean and Sam hide behind a large rock. Dean looks through the binoculars.

SAM

What are we looking at?

DEAN

We’re good. This is going to be timed so keep up.

Dean holds his shotgun up, Sam with two pistols.

The Winchester brothers sneak up to the first home. Dean leads Sam to the edge of the house; he takes a peek around the corner. Quiet and swift are the key elements to entering the double tier house four spaces down.

The two are near breathless and undetectable when they reach the third house. Dean stops at the edge of the house, he peaks around the corner for possible entrances. The house is much longer than the others. The rear of the house is not visible from their vantage point.

DEAN

(whispering to Sam)

They’re four of them at the front of the house. We might have to expose ourselves to get to the back.

One of the zombie villagers walks out from the opposite side of where Dean and Sam are located and turns to face the two Winchester brothers.

When the villager sees the two intruders all the other villagers automatically know as a collective about their presence. The villagers that Dean sees turn their attention to Dean. The discovered Winchester retracts his head back.

SAM

(whispering to Dean)

What?

DEAN

(whispering to Sam)

They all turned and saw me.

Sam looks up in confusion then turns his attention to the one villager that still has an eye on them.

SAM

Crap.

Dean turns his attention to the villager that is monitoring them. The zombie raises its hand and yells out like an animal.

All of the villagers begin roaming to Dean and Sam’s location.

Both Dean and Sam look up at the window above their heads.

DEAN AND SAM

Window.

INT. HOUSE

Sam breaks the window and hops into the house followed by Dean. A bookshelf covered in cobwebs sits next to the window. Sam rushes to the opposite side of the bookshelf and pushes the termite infested wood-structure over the window. Dean grabs a wooden chair from a dinning table and props it against the bookshelf to reinforce it.

DEAN

Get the front door.

Sam rushes to the front of the house where the front door is being opened by one of the zombies. He slams a shoulder into the door to shut it quickly. The door shuts but cracks the old hinges. The entire door begins to slide back along with Sam.

Being overpowered by several zombies Sam thrusts one gun into the back of his pants and pushes on the door to close it. He doesn’t have enough strength and the door moves back even further. Options are running out quickly; he puts the gun up to the door and fires off a few rounds through the door and into the zombies.

Dean peaks his head out into the hallway.

DEAN

Sam?

SAM

Dean! I can’t hold them off!

Dean looks around then up.

Sam is continuing to loose the battle of the front door.

DEAN

(from the back of the house)

Sam, get back here.

SAM

But—

DEAN

Forget it! Get over here!

Sam is confused but puts his faith in Dean. He drops the door and three zombies fall onto their stomachs. They scramble to get back on their feet.

The back of the house is unoccupied, no sign of Dean. There is a loud banging coming from the bookshelf and Sam is feeling a lot exposed.

SAM

Dean?!

A hand drops down from above Sam’s head. It’s Dean.

DEAN

Grab my hand!

Sam grabs his hand and is pulled up to discover a small opening in the ceiling.

The two brothers crawl in a darkened space above the hallway. The room can be scene through the cracks in the boards. The home is filled with zombies below them. One of the zombies looks up to see the wooden planks moving. All of the zombies look up and stop moving.

Dean and Sam are crawling to the other end of the house when a fist punches through the wood belonging to one of the zombies, followed by five more.

SAM

Move!

Another fist pops up and grabs Dean by the back of the head and thrusts his face through the board.

Sam grabs Dean by the leg with one hand and grabs Dean’s shotgun with the other.

Dean’s face dips lower to the hungry mouth of the zombie.

Sam blows a hole through the roof of the house.

Dean’s face is about to be eaten when the barrel of a gun plunges down into the mouth of the zombie instead and blows a widow out the back of its head. Sam pulls Dean up and they escape to the rooftop.

EXT. THE ROOFTOP

Sam pulls Dean up to the roof. It is just a matter of time before the house is torn apart by the many zombies surrounding and approaching the house, almost one hundred.

SAM

Oh crap!

The house begins to shake.

INT. THE HOUSE

The zombie villagers are rocking the house back and forth to knock down the structure. A group of zombies begin lying down underneath the hole in the roof and begins piling themselves on top of each other to reach the roof.

EXT. THE ROOFTOP OF THE HOUSE

The house continues to shake.

SAM

We’re going to have to do something!

Dean looks around for an answer.

DEAN

I’m working on it!

SAM

Well what whatever it is work faster!

Dean looks across to the window of the adjacent house. He looks at the one window that is not boarded up from its previous occupants.

Dean awes in genius.

SAM

What?

DEAN

Give me the boom stick!

Sam tosses the shotgun to Dean. Cocked, aimed and fired at the window Dean presents his answer to their escape. Sam looks at the window and looks down in at the gap between the houses, the twenty-foot gap between the two houses.

Dean smiles at his lucky streak then looks down at the zombies that are not moving anymore. All of them are looking at the window that was just shot. The smile disappears.

SAM

I can’t do that!

DEAN

We need to move.

Dean grabs his bag and throws it across into the two story house.

SAM

No, I mean I can’t jump that.

DEAN

Suit yourself, but while you are still here ask yourself do I taste like orange chicken or like an eggplant.

Dean lines himself up with the window on the other side of the roof.

SAM

Dean!

Leaping like a track star into the air, Dean grabs the ledge of the window. His body drops but his hands grip the ledge piercing his hands with the broken shards of glass.

Dean pulls himself up to the window and into the house.

Sam looks down and sees the zombies piling themselves on top of each other to eventually get to the window. The zombies continue to try and knock down the house.

SAM

Dean?!

Dean pops his head up and gets to his feet. He holds his hand out.

DEAN

Throw your bag!

Sam throws his bag to Dean. The throw is bad and starts to fall to the zombies below. Dean gets his hand on the strap and pulls it into the house. Sam looks around for any other solutions.

A hand bursts through the roof of the house near the front, grabbing Sam’s attention from jumping to the other house. A shoulder followed by a head and torso slowly rise from the new opening on the roof. A few more hands pop out of the roof of the house.

SAM

Dean!

DEAN

Shift your ass!

Sam lines himself up with Dean. More hands burst through the roof near Sam’s feet. With a case of hotfoot the motivated hero starts off. The roof begins to cave and the house begins to fall from the torture of the structures integrity. Last step planted on the edge of the roof and the leap of Sam’s life involves a structure falling over in the background and a hand reaching out to its sibling. There is the initial drop of the body but is gripped vigorously with intent to survive.

Unfortunately the pile of zombies is high enough to reach Sam’s feet and legs. A zombie reaches Sam’s calve and digs its teeth into his flesh.

Sam yells out as two other zombies grab onto his legs and pull him down to the ground. His body disappears under the carnivorous freaks below.

Dean watches his brother being over-powered by the zombie villagers.

DEAN

SAM!

Dean grabs his shotgun as he gets to his feet. Fingers wrap around the back of his neck and he is yanked into the house.

INT. IN THE TWO STORY HOUSE

Dean flies back first into part of the doorway and knocks out part of the wood that makes up its frame. His vision is blurred and can’t make out what is happening.

Two mangled hands grab Dean’s jacket and lifts his body off of the ground. A very large zombie looks Dean in the face as he regains his vision. The creatures jaw is wired to the top part of his head and one of its eyes has been gouged out.

Dean looks disgusted which pisses off the zombie. The barrel of the gun is raised to the zombie’s mid-section but is knocked out of Dean’s hands before he can use it.

The zombie knocks Dean’s head through the top of the door frame then drops him to the ground. A foot plant to the chest knocks our only surviving hero to the ground.

Everything seems to be far away as Dean continues in a last ditch effort to kill the zombie.

DEAN

Yeah, I got your number buddy.

The blast of the shotgun startles the zombie as its stomach bleeds out from the hole that Dean opened.

The beast looks up and smiles. One punch knocks Dean out.

CUT TO BLACK

INT. ABANDONED MINESHAFT – FEW HOURS TO SUNRISE

There is a consistent dripping of water in multiple areas of the mine shaft. Piles of rubble are spread throughout the shaft along with small pools of water. Dean is lying on a pile of rubble; he rolls over into a small pool of murky-water.

Dean pulls his face out of the water as he has rudely awakened himself. He’s not alone, there is a woman chained to the wall, F.B.I. agent Sandra Peters.

AGENT PETERS

(scared)

Hello. Is someone there?

Dean looks over to Agent Peters.

DEAN

Yeah. Yeah, where are we?

AGENT PETERS

I don’t know. I think it’s a

mineshaft.

As Dean gets to his feet an alarming noise rips through both of their ears the noise of a chainsaw. Dean immediately looks for a weapon but can’t seem to find anything. A shadow closes in from a tunnel behind Dean. He turns to face another Maniac.

The Maniac charges at Dean swinging downward. Dean catches the arm holding the chainsaw. Distracted by the urgency of the chainsaw, he takes a fist to the face. He falls to the ground back first and even more vulnerable as the chainsaw is swung down into Dean’s midsection.

Dean escapes near death as the blade pierces the ground by rolling out of danger.

AGENT PETERS

Over there!

Agent Peters motions to a pool of water. Dean looks around on his knees to find a cat and nine tails lying in the murky water.

The maniac rises and charges flinging the chainsaw around taking a careless swipe at Dean. A swift roll puts Dean out of danger and within reach of the whip. In the same motion of grabbing the whip he thrusts the weapon into the face of the maniac.

Agent Peters is very anxious, even with the ray of light that has befallen our hero.

Dean rips back on the whip and pulls flesh from the side of the maniac. The zombie moans loudly as blood drizzles out the side of its head.

The zombie surprises Dean with a quick back hand knocking our hero into the wall of the cavern; his body drops to the ground. The zombie rips Dean from the ground and draws back the chainsaw ready to swing it into Dean’s head.

Dean decides to use his head and smash it into the face of the zombie. The monster drops him and stumbles back. Dean is seeing stars as well but gains control of his senses and kicks the chainsaw out of the zombies hand as it continues to stumble back.

Indiana Jones would take this opportunity to slug it out with the villain why not Dean? Burning calories Dean throws flurries and connects with all of them. His hand is caught by the zombie and a fist is shoved into Dean’s face while his hand is being crushed. The zombie throws a flurry as well only Dean goes limp and passes out from the punishment. The body is dropped back into a small pool of water face down.

Agent Peters watches in horror as Dean lies still in the water; the monster looks over at her. On a pile of rumble lies the whip Dean used, its time for her to scream.

The zombie grabs the whip and walks to the F.B.I. agent slowly. The zombies face closes in on hers, she turns away in disgust at the bloodied face of the maniac.

The sound screams through the air of the chainsaw being wielded by its new master. Agent Peters screams at the sudden change in volume as the zombie falls back with only one leg. Dean stands over the struggling body and plunges the chainsaw into the chest of the beast.

AGENT PETERS

Oh God that’s gross.

DEAN

That’s nothing you should have seen what this thing did to an F.B.I. agent in the woods.

AGENT PETERS

(shocked)

So he didn’t get out?

DEAN

Did you know him?

AGENT PETERS

Yeah, he was my partner.

DEAN

(foot in the mouth)

Sorry.

AGENT PETERS

Why are you here?

Dean is light on his feet with an answer.

DEAN

Well you know how it is with brothers. You go drinking in the woods, stumble across a few dead bodies, you know an average day.

Agent Peters stares at Dean for a moment as if awaiting rescue, as if she was chained up to a wall or something.

AGENT PETERS

Well…

The thought of breaking her out occurs to Dean that split second.

DEAN

Oh, sorry.

Dean gets ready to cut through the chains.

AGENT PETERS

So, what happened to your brother?

Dean looks down in sadness as he realizes his brother was ripped apart by the monsters of the woods.

INT. ISOLATED CELL SOMEWHERE INSIDE THE MINESHAFT – FEW HOURS TO SUNRISE

He takes a moment to decipher reality from his last coherent moment. The darkness of the mineshaft makes it hard for Sam to awaken from his vision.

A sound is made from the back of the cell. Sam turns to see a few small shadows moving around.

SAM

Hello?

No one responds. Sam realizes that his vision is slightly impaired and is able to slowly make out that the small shadows are children.

SAM

Hello?

The children do not respond. They are almost terrified of Sam.

SAM

I’m not going to hurt yo—

An empty pain takes Sam’s attention away from the children and onto his stomach. He is abnormally hungry.

The children are even more frightened and backed up into the corner of the cage. Sam looks around the room and sees the other cages in this large cavern.

The cages are littered with body parts that were ripped off of children much like the ones in Sam’s cell.

Sam is able to gain control of himself.

SAM

What happened here?

Once again there is no answer.

SAM

Listen, my name is Sam.

JAKE steps forward knowing that he faces death just as the others do.

JAKE

You don’t know it but you are going to

change.

SAM

What do you mean?

Jake is still afraid of Sam.

JAKE

Please don’t hurt us mister. You will turn into the Bad Man. And you will be hungry.

The frightened child points to a cage.

JAKE

My sister was in that one. They put a man in the cage with her and some other kids.

The cage is like all the others, chunks of flesh rest in a pool of blood.

JAKE

I wanted her to stop screaming. But when she did…

Sam kneels down and puts his hands on Jake’s shoulders.

SAM

I swear that I am not going to do

anything to hurt you, any of you. In

fact we are getting out of here.

Sam’s stomach makes a loud noise. He grabs his mid-section and curls up on the floor.

Jake and the others move to the back of the cage in fright for what’s about to happen to them.

(CUT TO BLACK)

INT. A CART TRACK TUNNEL - ONE HOUR BEFORE SUNRISE

The tunnel is illuminated by a lamp every twenty feet. Dean and Agent Peters walk through the tunnel, cautious of any occupants of the cave.

AGENT PETERS

This all started with a Professor Knowlby who went on an archeological dig somewhere in Turkey. He came back with a book, supposedly from the dig, went to his cabin in the woods nearby this location and read from a passage in the book.

DEAN

Some kind of incantation?

AGENT PETERS

Something like that. Later that evening the professor’s daughter and her boyfriend, a guy named Ashley Williams drove to the cabin to find the professor murdered. According to Williams some kind of evil entered the professor’s daughter and he was forced to kill her.

DEAN

Sounds like a crappy movie.

AGENT PETERS

It gets worse. Williams claimed that the same evil entered his own hand, so he comes to the solution to saw his own hand off with a chainsaw. He was found by the police wandering the streets with the chainsaw attached to his stump.

Dean stops walking in the tunnel, Agent Peters follows suit. The tunnel opens up into a large cavern with cages. The smell of blood old and new fills the room. Agent Peters grabs her face trying to block the smell. Dean looks around the room and spots a cell with a body left unconscious. It’s Sam, he is covered in blood.

Dean rushes to the cell. The bars have been bent and the lock destroyed.

DEAN

Sam?

Sam wakes up in a pool of blood his senses are blurred.

He tries to lift himself up but his muscles are spent; the feeling that someone has when completing a marathon. He hears a voice but can’t make out who it is that is speaking to him.

Dean grabs the door to the cage and pries it open.

DEAN

Sam.

He kneels down next to his brother and turns his body around.

Sam grunts, in pain he faces up looking at Dean’s face and remembers that he is still in the cage. He looks up to see Agent Peters but no kids. The smell rushes to his aid in realizing that the kids are no longer in the cage. He reaches for his lips and slides his fingers across the blood dripping from his mouth.

DEAN

What happened? I can’t believe you’re alive. Say something.

SAM

Kids?

DEAN

What do you mean?

SAM

Where are the kids? What happened to them?

DEAN

There are no kids in here.

AGENT PETERS

Yeah but there were.

DEAN

What are you talking about?

The thought of being a cannibal doesn’t appeal to Sam and he gets to his feet to see the damage in the cage.

SAM

Oh my God! I killed them!

DEAN

What? No, no, no, you didn’t kill anybody.

AGENT PETERS

Yes he did.

DEAN

No he didn’t.

AGENT PETERS

Yes he did, look at the cage.

DEAN

There’s some kind of explanation.

AGENT PETERS

There is a cult behind this. You’re brother has been infected with a parasite. The cult leaders can control the people infected with the parasites.

SAM

I need to get out of here.

DEAN

Yeah, let’s go.

AGENT PETERS

We can’t take him with us.

Dean stands up to Agent Peters.

DEAN

You better come up with a real good reason why he shouldn’t come with us.

AGENT PETERS

As long as he is with us they will know where we are. They are probably on their way right now.

Sounds faint to the ears electrify Sam’s senses he sees the shadows climb the ceiling of the cavern and looking down onto the three of them.

SAM

They are already here.

Attention is drawn to the ceiling by all three of them. The chainsaw blade is readied by Dean. Sam is smiling as the creatures close in for the attack.

One leaps down on top of Agent Peters but is intercepted by Sam leaping at it, knocking it into the wall with supernatural power and speed.

DEAN

Sam?

SAM

Above you!

The hand rips the cord without a moments hesitation. The chain rips through the neck of the DANGELER. The sharp teeth from the head of the monster latch onto Dean’s arm. Even after being severed from the body the head functions in the only way it can.

The pain distracts Dean from another attack from behind. Black alien arms open for the snatch as the predator rushes toward its meal.

The bitter taste of a flying fist to its face is all it will receive as Sam curls himself into the creature’s midsection grasping the inside of the arm like a champion wrestler and dislocating the shoulder from the torso.

The creature is not taken easily and reattaches its shoulder back to its body. It looks at Sam and smiles. Its fingers from one hand latch around the back of his head and with the other hand begin stabbing Sam in the chest.

Dean is still fighting with the Dangler head on his shoulder. He can’t seem to reach the head and it’s really digging into the flesh. The whip rips into the side of the face and pulls the head gnawing on Dean’s shoulder off.

Agent Peters, and Dean gather back to back as the corpse of a dangler is thrown from the darkness, before their feet. Sam emerges victorious and almost beast-like. Very far from the intelligent little brother that Dean is used to knowing.

Ten more danglers drop from the ceiling and reveal their presence to the trio.

Confusion, then disbelief rushes through Dean’s mind as one leaps into his midsection and like a dog drags him into another section of the mine. Dean revs the chainsaw and slashes the spine of the creature.

The creature yelps and throws Dean off into the darkness. His body rolls off the edge of a precipice and drops a good forty feet, banging his head along the side of the wall rendering him unconscious.

The gleeful smile of another dangler looks at its easy lunch from the edge of the precipice. As it leaps down into the darkness the head is blown off by the blast of a shotgun.

The creature’s body falls limp by Dean’s body. The stranger hovers over the edge of the precipice and looks down at Dean.

ASH

Well, well, what do we have here?

FADE TO BLACK

EXT. THE CHASM – DAY BREAK

The sun peaks across the horizon and illuminates the inside of a great chasm. Many rope bridges links tunnels from one side of the chasm to the other. Dean rests against a boulder unaware of his surroundings. The eye lids open as day breaks then quickly close in disorientation. The realization that he is no longer in the mineshaft hits him and he looks around frantically for Sam.

DEAN

Sam?

Ash is behind him with a bucket of murky water and a butterfly knife, Shaving as if he were a pioneer just passing through these parts.

ASH

(while facing away from Dean)

Hey sunshine. Did you know that you snore? Rather loud I might add.

Dean turns around to see a one armed man shaving his face in dirty slacks, a blue button down riddled with tears exposing a few wounds and murky black dress shoes.

DEAN

Who are you? Where is my brother?

ASH

(still shaving)

He lost control of himself and went after that pretty pistol.

DEAN

Why didn’t you flag her down?

ASH

Because your brother is eventually going to tear you a new one and I felt that you can help me more being live bait than dead meat.

DEAN

My brother is not a killer.

ASH

All I know is I saw him go into a cage with a bunch of kids to be slaughtered, thirty minutes later that cage is covered in bloody guts.

DEAN

So why haven’t you done anything about it?

Ash stops shaving.

ASH

Listen kid, I’m not as young as I used to be. I am also not the bad guy.

He stands up and presents himself to Dean.

ASH

There is a reason why I let them go they’re way.

Dean thinks for a moment.

DEAN

You followed them didn’t you?

ASH

They are heading for the cults hide out, a sort of temple that they created with the help of the zombies.

DEAN

From the village?

ASH

They are everywhere, there are different versions of them, some of them are humanoid, some are like the creatures that you encountered in the mineshaft.

DEAN

They were once human?

ASH

Yeah.

Dean looks at the stump on Ash’s right wrist.

DEAN

You’re Williams?

ASH

The name’s Ash, and if we’re going to save you’re brother we have to get back the book.

DEAN

The book that Professor Knowlby dug up?

ASH

It’s called Necronomicon ex Mortis, roughly translated; the Book of the Dead. Bound in human flesh and inked in human blood the book contains bizarre burial rites, incantations, and demon resurrection passages. It was never meant for the world of the living. I was searching for the book when the local authorities picked me up and hauled me off to the nut-house. Somehow my Doctor got his hands on the book and started up his own little club, he found a way to weaponize the book and control its powers to transform the people into the creatures that we have been running into out here. We find the book, and we can put an end to all of this.

DEAN

You’re a demon hunter.

ASH

No, just a by standard of an egg-head gone deadite messiah.

DEAN

You forgot innocent?

Ash smiles as he grabs the chainsaw, attaches it to the stump on his wrist.

ASH

Ain’t anything innocent about me kid.

Ash points to a satchel next to Dean.

ASH

While you were out I got you a little present.

Dean reaches into the bag and pulls out a .357 Magnum.

DEAN

Where did you get this?

ASH

Well, Uncle Ash went to: Whoop ‘ems R’ Us” to pick up that fine beauty there and gave out a classic “Bookstick’ectomy”.

Ash rips the cord on the chainsaw and revs up the murderous device.

ASH

Alright campers, lets go earn some

merit badges?

EXT. OUTSIDE AN ABANDONED BUILDING

Agent Peters reaches an abandoned building, derelict and unstable the building stands four stories tall and looks as though it could have been some kind of watch tower.

INT. THE ABANDONED BUILDING

The F.B.I. Agent enters the building. Light from outside illuminates the hallway beyond the door. Agent Peters walks into the dark hallway. Nothing but silence fills the building. As she walks further into the empty hallway light from a hole in the roof illuminates her face.

SAM

Agent Peters!

Peters turns and backs up slowly into the darkness.

SAM

You should experience the transformation. The feeling is unbelievable.

AGENT PETERS

No thanks, I think the feeling I get once a month is good enough.

SAM

Do you want to know what I’m feeling right now?

AGENT PETERS

What?

Sam drops down behind Agent Peters from a hole in the ceiling. He opens his eyes to reveal a blood red glow beneath the eyelids.

SAM

Hungry.

EXT. THE CHASM

Ash and Dean are crossing the last rope bridge to approach the abandoned building.

ASH

When we get there be ready for a fight. The closer we get to the book the more restless the enemy gets.

They both look up to see a horde of zombies on the other side of the bridge.

DEAN

Then we must be close.

Ash turns around to see another horde of zombies. They split apart to make a path for the Giant Zombie from the village.

ASH

Well if it isn’t the one that got away.

The Giant Zombie seems to recognize Ash. Dean turns his attention to the big guy from behind.

DEAN

You two know each other?

Ash raises his chainsaw in an attack stance.

ASH

Yeah, Junior there was complaining about a toothache. So Dr. Ash found the cure for ugly, but someone took something from the doctor’s office that didn’t belong to them. This time the doctors back to finish the job.

Ash revs up his chainsaw. Dean turns to the crowd between him and the abandoned building.

DEAN

Alright, let’s do this.

All the zombies pile up onto the rope bridge and rush to finish Dean and Ash.

Dean looks at his gun then back at the crowd approaching him.

DEAN

Six bullets, ten zombies.

Dean looks back at the gun and realizes that this is no ordinary gun. The barrel is raised and the trigger is pulled. The bullet rips through skulls of all the zombies. Oblivions unemployment line slump over and fall off the rope bridge in unison.

DEAN

Five bullets no zombies.

ASH

Not bad kid! Now get to the temple!

DEAN

What about you?

ASH

I’ll be fine, get to the book!

Dean hesitates then sprints to the temple.

Ash turns his attention to the Giant Zombie. The massive deadite steps onto the rope bridge and only it will fight Ash.

Zombies on the other side of the bridge trap Ash from leaving the same way Dean left. He looks around then at the rope connected to the wooden planks. It hits him!

ASH

Oh yeah, I’ve seen this before. Sure I’m missing the Blonde Singer and the Driving Chinese Kid.

Ash wraps his left foot around the rope. The Big Cheese looks at Ash wrapping his leg around the rope and realizes what he is about to do. All the zombies rush onto the bridge to kill S-Mart’s Hardware Department Manager.

ASH

It’s going to take a lot of wire to fix that grill this time.

As the Giant leaps at Ash, Ash drops the chainsaw down onto the rope.

MEANWHILE

EXT. OUTSIDE THE ABANDONED BUILDING

Dean notices a path along the side of the building. Without hesitation he rushes in with his hand cannon ready to blast the next thing that is not his brother.

INT. THE ABANDONED BUILDING

The hallway is still dark with holes in the ceiling illuminating parts of the interior.

DEAN

Sam!

There is no response.

DEAN

Sam!

SAM

(behind Dean)

What?

Dean spins around to get a split-hair glimpse of his brother before he is knocked out.

Sam stands over Dean’s limp body.

SAM

To think, I used to look up to you.

CUT TO BLACK

INT. THE INNER SACTUM, RITUAL ROOM – MORNING

The room is dark, with the exception of the torches lining the circular auditorium. In the center of the room is a stone table, strapped to the table is Dean, still unconscious.

A figure wearing a black cloak walks onto the center of the auditorium from the darkness beyond the torches to greet Dean.

The figure places smelting salts under Dean’s nose to wake him up. His eyes light up but the damage to his head is starting to take it’s toll.

The figure stands over Dean’s body. Twenty other cult members hide in the darkness watching the ceremony take place.

DEAN

Where am I?

There is nothing but silence from the room.

DEAN

What do you want?

The cult continues to play with Dean.

DEAN

Please tell me you’re a hot girl who finds me absolutely irresistible.

The cult member pulls a five foot sword from its cloak and waives it under Dean’s neck with irregular speed and precision.

DEAN

You’re right I should have called, baby I won’t make that mistake again. You were right I was wrong…

The tip of the sword is then pointed at Dean’s throat as to spear him to the table

DEAN

Please don’t kill me baby!

SAM

Have I ever told you how annoying you are?

Dean looks at the dark void in the hood of the cloak.

Sam pulls the hood back to reveal his identity.

Swirling in confusion Dean still thinks that Sam is on his side.

DEAN

What are you doing? Cut me loose!

SAM

You’re kind of semi-retarded too.

The cult leader steps out, he speaks to Dean with an Austrian accent.

HIGH PRIEST RIENHART

Perhaps I can shed some light on the subject. I am High Priest Reinhart.

DEAN

Since we are doing a round of introductions I’m Tinky and this is my brother Bobo.

(motions to his brother)

Bobo, get him!

Sam stands still.

DEAN

Go Bobo, go.

HIGH PRIEST REINHART

Amusing, Mr. Winchester. I am just a man wanting to extend my hand to you, to join our community.

DEAN

That’s nice of you just as nice as you pretending that I have a choice in the matter.

HIGH PRIEST REINHART

One does what one can. I would like

just once to hear someone to just say

yes.

A double barrel is pointed at the High Priest’s back. The gun is being held by another cult member. Ash pulls the hood back.

ASH

Can you hear me now?!

The gun is unloaded into the Cult Leader’s back. Reinhardt gasps for breath while flying across the room heavily wounded. The Priest lays on the floor motionless.

Sam turns his attention to Ash. The other members begin scrambling out of the inner sanctum.

The tainted Winchester leaps at Ash with nearly invisible speed. Ash unloads a second round into his chest sending him packing to the other side of the ritual room.

DEAN

NO!

Ash jumps down to the alter platform and cuts the bonds restraining Dean to the table.

Dean slugs Ash in the face.

The face turner is not a knock out and Ash turns back to Dean.

ASH

(disoriented)

Is that better?

DEAN

No.

Sam reappears behind Ash and throws him across the room like a rag doll.

DEAN

Sam.

The moment between brothers is over. It’s time for Dean to face his worst nightmare, his own brother.

Sam turns his attention to his brother with the double barrel aimed at Dean’s throat. One is trying to save the others life, the other trying to take it away.
