NOMADS SC 2021/2022 Policies and ProceduresCompetitive Program NOMADS SC MISSION:The NOMADS Soccer Club is committed to excellence in youth soccer development as a part of a larger pledge to the progression of soccer in the United States of America.The guiding principle behind NOMADS’ participation in youth soccer is our belief in its value to promote player development all while promoting positive character traits that lead to personal growth and success in a child’s life. These include the duty to take an individual’s talents to the highest level of performance; embracing discipline needed to reach high standards; learning to work with others as a team in pursuit of a common goal; and adherence to codes of integrity, dedication, and respect. Soccer plays an important role in creating a sense of camaraderie and community within our club. NOMADS’ mission defines expectations both on the field and off. NOMADS strive for a level of soccer performance that will frequently produce winning seasons and the realistic opportunity to compete for a team championship and individual acknowledgment and promotion. Our mission also encourages our members to be student-athletes, individuals who are mindful of the importance of academic distinction. NOMADS are also committed to the physical and emotional well-being of our members and to the social development of the whole person. We recognize the great demands placed on today’s student-athlete and we aim to provide a support system to assist them manage these demands and get the most out of their NOMADS experience. NOMADS athletes are expected to adhere to a level of behavior that brings credit to themselves and the club and uphold the values of our mission.NOMADS’ program shall be composed of International, National, Regional, State, and Local opportunities that meet the needs, interests, and abilities of our male athlete. In the vision of expansion to development of soccer, NOMADS will create opportunities for participation in the EYDP League, implement quality age appropriate training, emphasis on development over winning, provide player and team instructional camps, continue its pursuit of coaching education excellence, and strive to have fun and inspire the players that we work with. The mission of the NOMADS Soccer Club ultimately is to elevate the passion and spirit of soccer and to help players learn to love and respect the game all while having fun and developing fundamentally sound soccer players who become leaders with character in the future. Page 1TEAM SELECTION:· NOMADS Soccer Club (NOMADS SC) announcement of tryout dates will be posted on our website and Facebook pages. Any child meeting the age requirements is eligible to tryout.· Each parent or guardian shall complete and sign a tryout registration form that includes a medical waiver for NOMADS SC.· Existing NOMADS SC players are evaluated on an annual basis by our coaching staff; however existing players should attend all scheduled tryout dates.· Each player attending tryouts will be evaluated by NOMADS SC staff coaches that may include the team’s coach. · Evaluation sheets and depth charts will be turned into the Director of Coaching (DOC), Technical Director or Team Head Coach at the end of each tryout for review. A team for each age group shall be comprised of players as evaluated by the NOMADS SC coaching staff, with DOC,TD and coach making final decisions on roster placement.· All players trying out for an age group should attend all tryout dates for their appropriate age group team. Each age group will hold tryouts on one field with all players trying out together. Existing NOMADS SC players who have been playing up an age group must try out for their age appropriate team. NOMADS SC players wishing to tryout up must receive prior written approval from the DOC. · Tryouts will be conducted in a professional manner. Each participant will be given an equal opportunity with no segregation of any players. · Offers to players for roster placement may be extended via phone, email, or in person. All players will be notified within 15 days of the close of the tryout window if they have not been offered a roster position.· Rosters will be announced by Nomads Staff CoachMULTIPLE TEAMS IN AGE GROUP:· If there are enough players available to form more than one team that would be competitive. · If there are enough qualified coaches available to adequately staff the needs of both teams.· The decision to form multiple teams in an age group will be made by the NOMADS SC Directors. This will be determined after review of the evaluations made by the age group evaluation team.· Every effort will be made by the NOMADS SC Staff to create an atmosphere that fosters close and friendly relationships between the teams in a same age group, encouraging the teams to help each other improve and develop. These efforts may include scheduling practices at the same day, time, and field if possible so that the players can interact.· In appropriate age groups, the Red team will be formed by selecting the highest rated players by the NOMADS SC Staff. The White team will be selected from the next highest rated players and so on.PLAYING UP POLICIES:· All players wishing to “play-up” must request permission by submitting the “Request to Tryout an Age Group Up” form located at . Written approval from the DOC prior to attending the tryouts is necessary in order to be eligible to tryout up. If no written approval is provided, that player may not participate in the tryout. Page 2TEAM GOALS, OBJECTIVES, AND POLICIES:· Learn and understand the NOMADS SC Mission· Build Champions for Life· Create a positive soccer environment for players, coaches, parents, and fans.· Develop soccer skills and knowledge.· Develop teamwork and camaraderie.PARENT/PLAYER AGREEMENT:· All coaches, players, and parents must understand and comply with this agreement which identifies parent and player codes of conduct, financial responsibility, and donation of time.COACHING CODE OF CONDUCT:· A NOMADS SC coach will develop their players to the best of their abilities and focus on development over winning· A NOMADS SC coach will always conduct themselves as a responsible adult when dealing with players; both legally and ethically· A NOMADS SC coach will plan and supervise training sessions that are instructive and fun· A NOMADS SC coach will motivate and teach with positive reinforcement· A NOMADS SC coach will notify NOMADS SC of incidents that may compromise the integrity of the team or club· A NOMADS SC coach will abide by the rules, policies, and procedures of the team and club· A NOMADS SC coach will strive to enhance the 4 pillars of soccer development. Technical, Tactical, Psychological and Physical development· A NOMADS SC coach will ensure that players wear their uniform in a proper and complete fashion· A NOMADS SC coach will work hard to promote players within their team and club· A NOMADS SC coach will display a positive attitude toward all players, parents, and officials· A NOMADS SC coach will treat players and parents with respect and conduct themselves in a professional manner· A NOMADS SC coach will refrain from making negative comments to any players, coaches, or parents· A NOMADS SC coach will develop positive life qualities (i.e. discipline, teamwork, etc.) in NOMADS SC players · A NOMADS SC coach will respect all game officials and their decisions· A NOMADS SC coach will provide genuine cooperation to coaches within my teams age group· A NOMADS SC coach will not discriminate against anyone· A NOMADS SC coach will refrain from using profane or vulgar language in the presence of players· A NOMADS SC coach will provide honest and truthful evaluations of the players skill· A NOMADS SC coach will always be responsible to clean up bench area (both home and away) after training and games· A NOMADS SC coach will honor the “Conflict Resolution Process” and address a parents concern if the proper course of action has been followed· A NOMADS SC coach will always remember that they represent the NOMADS Soccer Club Page 3PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT: A NOMADS SC player will abide by all but not limited to US Soccer, US CLUB, CYSA, MLS Next and NOMADS SC policies, procedures, and rulesA NOMADS SC player will always play by the rules and respect the game of soccerA NOMADS SC player will be punctual and prepared to all team and NOMADS SC activitiesA NOMADS SC player will focus on playing soccer and affecting the outcome of the game with their best effort. Work hard for their team, as well as for yourself, and remember you are only as good as the players around you.A NOMADS SC player will encourage their teammates with positive comments and applaud them for a job well doneA NOMADS SC player will understand the value of being a member of a “Club” and always put “Club” before “Team”, and ”Team” before “Self” when making decisions regarding NOMADS SCA NOMADS SC player will keep control of their emotions; will never retaliate when you feel you have been wrongedA NOMADS SC player understands they are representing NOMADS SC and will display positive character for the club, team, and self while engaging in all NOMADS SC activities. They will cooperate and be respectful to all management, coaches, teammates, parents, opponents, fans, and refereesA NOMADS SC player will keep in mind that the decisions made off the field may affect your ability to perform on itA NOMADS SC player recognizes the importance of scholastic excellence to pursue life goalsA NOMADS SC player will always wear NOMADS SC approved training and game gear to all training sessions, scrimmages, games, and tournamentsA NOMADS SC player will make every effort to participate in Community Events scheduled by NOMADS SC throughout each seasonA NOMADS SC player caught using illegal drugs or alcohol while under the supervision of a NOMADS SC Staff member will be subject for immediate removal from NOMADS SCA NOMADS SC player will always be gracious in victory and dignified in defeatA NOMADS SC player understands that they may be suspended for an indefinite amount of time, or removed from NOMADS SC for violation of one or more of the above codes of conduct Page 4PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT:· A NOMADS SC parent will respect the coaching staff and their decisions· A NOMADS SC parent understands that I am obligated to pay scheduled membership fees( if payment plan is approved) based on my child’s team which are due at the in full on the 1st of each month· A NOMADS SC parent will not enter the field of play during a training session, scrimmage, or game unless asked to do so by the coach. A NOMADS SC parent will not verbally or physically abuse, confront, taunt, harass, or demean a coach, manager, player, parent, or referee at any time· A NOMADS SC parent understands to address a coach regarding playing time or playing position there must be a 48 hour cooling off period before communicating with the coach· A NOMADS SC parent understands they cannot coach their child or any others from the sideline or anywhere else during training sessions, scrimmages, or games unless they are assigned by a coach of the team or a NOMADS SC Director· A NOMADS SC parent will follow the Chain of Command to resolve an issue. Bylaws, Policies and Procedures can also be found at · A NOMADS SC parent will not conspire with other parents or any individual, group, or entities to undermine the authority of any coach, the program, or NOMADS SC· A NOMADS SC parent will make every effort to allow my child to attend all training sessions, scrimmages, games, tournaments, as well as team and NOMADS SC functions.· A NOMADS SC parent understands that there are consequences if the policies and procedures of the club are not fulfilled including but not limited to the removal from NOMADS SC. Page 5PARENT FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:It is the intent of NOMADS Soccer Club (NOMADS SC) to provide an affordable playing opportunity for all members and every effort will be made to minimize unnecessary expenses. In order for NOMADS SC to meet its financial obligations, it is important that all players also meet their financial obligations to NOMADS SC.I understand that I am responsible to pay the annual membership fees for the year once committing to a NOMADS SC roster unless I qualify for the medical release or have written Board of Director approval to suspend my monthly fees by submitting the “Intent to Drop” document to the NOMADS SC Technical Director and Head Coach.. I understand that I am obligated to pay scheduled fees based on my child’s team which are due in full as agreed on signing with the Nomads Soccer Club. I understand any player whose account has remained past due on the last day of the month will have his/her player pass pulled and will not be reinstated until the balance is paid in full or a written payment agreement has been signed by parents and NOMADS SC Head Coach. I understand that a player’s account must be in good standing (not past due) in order for him/her to participate in NOMADS SC benefits such as EYDP Training Centers, player identification programs, NOMADS SC training sessions, position Curriculum training sessions, annual tryouts, etc... I understand that a player’s account must be in good standing (not past due) in order for him/her to be released to another Club. I understand that the season may extend beyond the average period due to State, Regional, or National Cup, MLS Next play-Offs and Showcases participation; in such case, monthly NOMADS SC fees will extend as appropriate. Regional/National OnlyI understand that parent and player signatures are required in order to participate. If a parent or player fails to complete any obligation or violate the Codes of Conduct, the child’s players pass may be pulled; preventing the child from participating in upcoming games, tournaments, or training sessions, or in more severe and/or repeat instances, the player and family may be dismissed from NOMADS SC. I understand that if my child’s account is more than 90 days past due the account will be sent to collections. Page 6FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITIES:Any team wishing to run any of these fundraising opportunities should contact David Armstrong david@Annual Fundraiser Dinner- This is NOMADS SC annual Fundraiser Dinner held the night before our Annual Golf Tournament TBA hosted at the TBA on. This is a fabulous social evening of dancing, spirits, and lots of fun. Each NOMADS SC family is required to sell one (1) $40 Dinner Tickets. NOMADS SC players will be invoiced for failure to meet requirement. Proceeds will benefit the general expenses and overhead for the NOMADS SC program you are involved with. Such as, if you are a Development Academy player proceeds will benefit the Academy fund, if you are a NOMADS SC boys or girls club player it will go to the NOMADS SC main account for operational use. Annual Golf Tournament- NOMADS SC hosts an Annual Golf Tournament. It will be held at April 17th 2022. In this event we have hosted professional US Soccer athletes such as Landon Donovan, Steve Cherundolo and we have wonderful prizes provided by Nike Soccer. The fee will be $150 per golfer. Proceeds will benefit the general expenses and overhead for the NOMADS SC program EYDP Travel and Nomads International Tours. Advertising -Receiving 75% of total sales of each package to be credited to the players club account. Candle Fundraisers- NOMADS SC Will sell candles in the Spring and in the Fall through TBD. This will be a NOMADS family favorite and an opportunity to put money in your players account. Players will receive 40% profit on total sales. Rubio’s Restaurants ( And Others) Night- This is the first of two NOMADS SC New events. Details TBDCar Wash Proceeds go directly to your players account. Tickets are $12 for a full service car wash, with $8 going directly into your players account. Fan Gear – TBA – Team must apply for this program.*No tax deductible donations or fundraising money may be paid out to individual members, players, or parents. On occasion you may receive emails from carefully selected third parties offering services and/or fundraising opportunities. These emails will always include an opt-out option.Page 7REGISTRATION FEE: Once a player has accepted a roster spot on a NOMADS SC team, the player will be required to register through our online registration system found at . During the registration process, the system will require a credit/debit card that will be used to complete the registration of your player. The registration fee MUST be paid for a player to be eligible to participate with NOMADS SC. NOMADS SC will enforce a “No Pay, No Play” PolicyRegistration fees are non-refundableMONTHLY MEMBERSHIP FEES:· NOMADS SC will use Sports Engine and in person payments for membership fees. Each player who has accepted a roster position within NOMADS SC is required to fill out Nomads EYDP registration forms and discuss payment process with their coach. The Sports Engine system will be set up to withdrawal your membership fees on the 1st of each month you are in season with NOMADS SC.· Membership fees are due on the 1st of each month via credit card, bank debit card and check.· Membership fees are determined by the team (age group) your child is selected to play with.· NOMADS SC will apply a late charge of $20 for any payments made after the 7th of the month.· NOMADS SC players whose account remain past due on the last day of the month will have their player pass pulled and will not be reinstated until the balance is paid in full or a written payment agreement has been signed by parents and NOMADS SC Business Manager.· The season may extend beyond the normal payment period due to State, Regional, or National Cup participation; in such case, membership fees will extend as appropriate.OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATIONIt is mandatory for Work Program and Sponsored players/parents to volunteer two shifts of 4 hours at a Club tournament or other NOMADS SC event. Volunteering for a TEAM fundraiser does not satisfy your Club obligation. Teams may not compete with NOMADS SC fundraisers. No tax deductible donations may be paid out to individual members, players, or parents. On occasion you may receive emails from carefully selected third parties offering services and/or fundraising opportunities. These emails will always include an opt-out option. NOMADS SC understands that personal financial situations may change. When these situations impact the payment of NOMADS SC fees, it is the player’s/parent’s responsibility to open a dialogue with the NOMADS SC Work program Manager or coach to work out a plan to make their account current. Page 8PER DIEM/HOTEL POLICY:NOMADS SC has adopted a new policy for 2021-2022. Team Managers must calculate their own coaches per diem, hotel, and league expenses. It is the responsibility of the team manager and team head coach to insure that these fees are properly budgeted and collected amongst the players on a roster. EYDP Teams will pay an all inclusive fee for Travel and budgets will be determined by the Head Coach.PER DIEMNOMADS SC recommends that the coaches per diem be at the following rate$70 per day Example: Travel on Friday, games on Saturday and Sunday, travel home Sunday= Two (2) days per diem. Local Tournaments in San Diego County with No overnight stay $25 per day + Parking feeHOTELNOMADS SC recommends that the Head Coach Hotel fee is taken care of by the parent group. Team managers should make every attempt to get the coach’s room for FREE based upon the team staying at the hotel. This is a common practice for hotels with traveling soccer teams; usually they have a threshold of how many rooms you need to get one complimentary. Every effort should be made to take care of coaching expenses while keeping a fair budget for the parents. GENERAL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES:Team support StructureEach team MUST have a Team Manager UNIFORMS: Each team shall wear a NOMADS SC BOD approved uniform at all league and tournament games. No team shall place any logo or any other form of advertising on any part of the uniform, equipment, ball or sundry item unless the NOMADS SC BOD has approved in writing. All teams must attach as described by NOMADS SC any logo or advertising material that the NOMADS SC BOD has designated. Failure to comply may result in penalties as severe as placing the team in bad standing, which would preclude that team from participating in any and all training, scrimmages, games, and tournaments. Recruiting flyers Flyers that are to be used for recruiting at other than informational night need to be reviewed and approved by a NOMADS SC Head coach and Technical Director prior to being distributed. Page 9Payment Refund Policy A player’s parent(s) must notify the NOMADS SC Technical Director by email submission of a completed “Intent to Drop” form. It must be understood by the parent that once the NOMADS SC Technical Director has been notified the player must no longer attend training. Upon proper notification, NOMADS SC Technical Director and Head Coach will make a decision on the player’s intent to drop. If the Technical Director and Head Coach and Team Coach by majority decides to release the player from their financial commitment to NOMADS SC, the club will collect no additional membership fees for that player starting with the next full month. No refunds will be processed for playing time issues, coaching issues, or policy issues or any other matter relating to the individuals dissatisfaction with such. Players understand that this is a 12 month commitment and fees will not be refunded.This will apply to any and all programs administered by NOMADS SC including but not limited to the EYDP Academy. This policy will supersede any and all policies, requirements, and rules of any and all programs NOMADS SC is affiliated to without exception. INJURIES:When a player is injured and the condition affects the player’s ability to physically compete or train with the team, the following guidelines are used by the team coach, manager, and parent of the player to discuss and agree to the extent of the injury and the financial requirements to pay club fees.TEMPORARY INJURIES: (sprained ankles, twists, sickness, etc…) lasting days or weeks shall not affect the payment of tournament or club dues. TEMPORARY TO SEVERE INJURIES: those injuries that can sideline the player for a minimum of two (2) months. Dues will not continue to accrue for the period of the injury. All players are required to provide written verification from a medical doctor stating they have been injured and are unable to compete and also when they are cleared/released to resume training and play. The written verification is to be presented to the coach and submitted to the club. SEVERE OR SEASON ENDING INJURIES: Paid dues are not refunded. All other future dues will be suspended. Page 10COMMUNICATION:Director Of Coaching – Derek ArmstrongTechnical Director – David Armstrong NOMADS SC encourages open lines of communication from the membership In the case of dissatisfaction, the conflict resolution process must be followedConferences attended by the coach, player, and parents to address concerns can be scheduledNOMADS SC coaches will discuss progress any time other than one hour before or after a game or during training sessionsNOMADS SC players will receive annual evaluationsCONFLICT RESOLUTION PROCESS:If you should have any Soccer concerns/Conflicts during your NOMADS SC experience, please use the following Chain of Command to resolve your issue:Note” NO meeting should be scheduled sooner than 48hrs after a game or TournamentSchedule a meeting and discuss with your Team Manager in attempt to resolveSchedule a meeting and discuss with your Team Coach in attempt to resolve Schedule a meeting and discuss with the NOMADS SC Head Coach in attempt to resolve Schedule a meeting with Technical Director and attempt to resolve If after following all the Conflict Resolution Process the issue has not been addressed, the matter will go to the NOMADS SC BOD The members of the NOMADS SC Board of Directors (BOD) And Technical Director encourage keeping lines of communication open, not only within your team but also with the Head Coach. The Head Coach is more than willing to listen and discuss any concerns or issues that may arise through a season regarding players, parents, coaches, NOMADS SC staff, or trainers. We all support the same goals for our children playing soccer. ALL Administration Issues/concerns MUST go to the Club Registrar (Debra Diaz)If for any reason you cannot get a resolution, from the registrar, parents MUST follow the above Procedure starting with the #1 as above.Note” Any Parent removing a Player from the team bench / (or Practice) during a game and leaving the field must know that this will not be tolerated by the club or its staff. The Coach of that team reserves the right to remove that player from the roster, after reporting/reviewing the incident with the Head Coach and Technical Director. All Club Fees will be forfeited by the Parent/Player. Parents waive the right to any of the above mentioned conflict resolution steps. This does NOT apply for serious emergencies.Page 11ATTENDANCE:Attendance at training and games is expectedAttendance to other club team and club functions, are strongly encouragedIf a parent cannot attend, allow your player to go with another family when possiblePlayer should never miss for transportation reasonsNotify coach as soon as possible if a player cannot attend due to but not limited to illness, family or school commitment, etc.Playing time may be reduced at coach’s discretion recognizing that players who attend are in some cases physically, mentally, or tactically prepared to play.RESPECT FOR REFEREES:NOMADS SC players and parents will follow and abide by US Soccer’s Respect CampaignPlayers, coaches, and parents MUST show respect for referees during and after gamesPlayers and parents should not talk to referees or referee assistants or comment on their calls. The only person who should be communicating with the referee is the NOMADS SC Staff Coach, and this MUST be done in a professional mannerReferee styles vary from game to game and we MUST respect their decisions regardless how we perceive we have been treatedPlayers and coaches cannot afford to be distracted by a referee’s call, but MUST adjust to the outcome of a call regardless of our personal opinionCoaches and parents highly influence the personality of a team and set the example and tone for our playersPARENTS CAN CONTRIBUTE TO A TEAM’S SUCCESS BY:Positive encouragement of players during games as well at homePositive comments about the club, team, and players to othersSupport the team no matter the situation or resultIt is easy to be positive and supportive when things are going well and a team is winning, however it is much more important to be encouraging and supportive when the team is strugglingAllow the coach to focus on the game without interruptionNo negative comments about any playersPARENTS CAN REDUCE STRESS ON PLAYERS BY:Help the players arrive at the field on timeSupport the coach in his instruction before, during, and after gamesAbsolutely NO coaching the team or its players from the sidelineAllow the players to relax and interact with teammates between games GUEST PLAYING POLICIES:Any member of NOMADS SC wishing to play with another team within NOMADS SC shall seek approval from their coach, the guest coach, and the Head Coach. Any requests to play for outside teams or clubs other than NOMADS SC shall be discussed and reviewed by the NOMADS SC Head Coach. There are potential dangers associated with the posting of personally identifiable information on a website since global access to the internet does not allow for the control of who may access such information. These dangers have always existed. NOMADS SC however would like to publicize and celebrate our youth members and their accomplishments and successes including but not limited to play, statistics, academic work, rewards, soccer and non soccer achievements, and community service endeavors. Pursuant to law, we will not release any personally identifiable information to any outside source, without prior written consent from you as parent/guardian. Personally identifiable information includes NOMADS SC player names, photos or images, residential addresses, email addresses, and phone numbers. If you as parent/guardian wish to rescind this agreement you may do so at any time. This rescission must be done in writing by sending a letter to the Technical Director and Head Coach of NOMADS SC and such rescission will take effect upon receipt by NOMADS SC.
