Our membership has increased from 73 members in January to 90 members in December. While this growth is great, it represents a fraction of the nurses in our District. Nurses MUST become involved in their professional organization; at a minimum show support through membership. Take the challenge to recruit just 1 RN to join LSNA. Go to the LSNA website for membership information . Good news, we now have a second RN in the Louisiana Legislature. Dustin Miller, RN was running for State representative in District 40 (Lafayete area). He was 1 of 8 candidates and he received 29% to enter the runoff and won. LANPAC, the political arm of LSNA, provided a donation and letter of support. The new Governor has appointed a 46 member Health Care Advisory Committee that will focus on Medicaid expansion.
