Fact Sheet

Teacher Email: jrobinson@ Teacher Website: School Wires:

A.  General Information

Have respect for yourself, others, and the property of others

Food and beverages (except for bottled water) are NOT permitted in class

Come prepared to class.  Students should have a workbook, notebook, pencil, and calculator everyday.  A graphing calculator is highly recommended.

Be ready to begin class as soon as the bell rings.  Have materials and homework out and ready.

B.  Classwork, Homework, and Projects

To be a success in this class, you must practice! Daily assignments are posted on my School Wires site.

Homework will be checked each class for effort.  You must show work. Just circling answers will not count. You will start out with 52 out of 50 homework points.  If the assignment is not complete, 2 points will be taken away from your homework points. Bonus points will be awarded for sharing answers to homework questions in class.

A project will be assigned near the end of the marking period.  It will be worth 100 points and 20% of your grade.  If the project is not ready on time, each day that it is late your grade will go down a letter grade.  (Ex:  You got an A-, after one day late it drops to a B-)

C.  Tests

SAT Practice Tests are given every Friday. You will be able to use you calculator on all tests. If you finish a test early, please have something else to do (read a book, work on homework, etc.)  There is no talking until all the tests have been collected.

D. ePrep

ePrep is an online program that we will be using to enhance the course. Generally, we will be using ePrep each Wednesday in the classroom, yet it can be accessed at any time from home. You will be awarded 10 points for completed each ePrep assignment and an additional 5 points for filling out a short reflection about the particular section you worked on during that class.

E.  Lateness

Be on time to class.  If you are late, you must have a pass from a teacher or administrator. See the student handbook regarding the lateness policies and penalties.

F.  Make-up Work

You are responsible for the work you miss.  Make sure you get notes from a reliable classmate.

Homework and ePrep:  Assignments missed during an excused absence are due no later than 2 days after the student returns.  If it is an extended absence, it is your responsibility to make alternate arrangements with me to make up the assignments.

Tests:  If you are absent on a test day, you must make it up on your first day back.  If you are absent for an extended period of time or if you miss several lessons, it is your responsibility to arrange for a make-up exam in a timely fashion.  A zero will otherwise be issued in place of that test.

G.  Grading

60% of your grade will come from classwork, homework, an improvement grade, and ePrep.

20% of your grade will come from weekly SAT tests. Your lowest score will be dropped.

20% of your grade will come from your College Report Project.

Weekly SAT tests: You will receive a percentage grade according to the following scale:

Scoring Guideline:

710-800: 100%

610-700: 97%

580-600: 94%

550-570: 91%

510-540: 88%

450-500: 85%

400-440: 82%

310-390: 79%

Under 310: 76%

Keep in mind that these are not the only grades we will have in class. You will receive separate homework and participation grades. Homework and participation grades are designed to help you as long as you are working through all of the problems actively. You will also be doing a college research assignment that can influence your marking period grade. There is a grade assigned to each SAT we take in order to ensure that everyone takes the test seriously and shows genuine attempt.

H. Academic Integrity

Cheating consists of the following:

• Giving or receiving unauthorized assistance (e.g., copying, stealing exams, using electronic aids/devices, Internet sources, or using aids like SparkNotes instead of reading the original work) in any academic work, quiz, test, or examination.

• Using graphic calculators to store information/formulas, using camera phones or text messages to store or share testing information and/or other academic work.

Violations will be dealt with in accordance with the policy outlined in the student handbook.
