UNB Scholarships Application now available online!

UNB has streamlined the scholarship application process. One online application covers all programs, all campuses and about 400 different scholarship opportunities. Interested students need to complete the scholarship application online found at unb.ca/scholarships and be re-assured that the application will come directly to the Undergraduate Awards Office. No paper please!

Students can apply at any time, but sooner is always better. They do not need to wait to hear from UNB Admissions about their admission - they can apply without being admitted to UNB. However, the offer is made after the student has been admitted.

The Loran Scholars Program was founded in 1988 to fund outstanding students to study on Canadian university campuses. The program seeks well-rounded students who demonstrate character, promise of leadership and strong commitment to service in the community.

TD Scholarships wants to hear from you. Rewards up to $70,000 are given to students who have shown leadership in many areas including environmental cleanup, the promotion of social justice, and the fight against child poverty. The key criterion is outstanding community leadership.

Some past recipients have been high achievers in many fields, but others have excelled in one particular area that inspired passionate commitment. Judges sometimes spot great potential in students who have led wonderful small projects.

Assumption Foundation Scholarships

The Assumption Foundation gives out scholarships for students who attained certain academic standards and who have financial needs. To qualify for one of the scholarships, the applicant needs to be enrolled as a full-time student in a CEGEP or a post-secondary institution. The applicant must also show an average of 70%. These scholarships are offered to Canadian citizens.

The application form for these scholarships can be submitted between January 1st and April 30th of the current year for scholarships available for the fall semester of the same year.

Terry Fox Humanitarian Award Program

Now over a quarter of a century old, the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award Program continues to attract Canada's best and brightest.

As the name implies, the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award recognizes humanitarian volunteer work. There is no set discipline students must study in order to receive the award, but they must continuously demonstrate a strong performance in academics, athletics, and volunteerism.

Arts Scholarships Program

The Arts Scholarships Program is designed to recognize and encourage New Brunswick students who have demonstrated exceptional artistic talent and potential, and who are pursuing a career in the arts. This program awards scholarships for full time, part time or short-term studies.

Schulich Leader Scholarships

Value: $60,000

The Canadian Schulich Leader Scholarships are undergraduate entrance scholarships for students intending to enroll in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) areas of study at a minimum of one of 20 participating universities.

All Canadian high schools and secondary schools are eligible to select one candidate each year to represent their school as a Schulich Leader Nominee. To win the appointment of Schulich Leader Nominee indicates an important distinction from one’s school.

The candidate must be intending to enroll in a program at a minimum of one of the 20 participating universities. The candidate must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada and be attending a Canadian high school. Each candidate must possess at least two of the following three attributes:

• Academic Excellence

• Outstanding community, business or entrepreneurial leadership

• Financial Need.

Nominees are selected by February 1, 2018. Once nominated the nominee must then submit a separate online Schulich Leaders application that will be sent directly to the universities they have submitted official applications to. This is due February 24, 2018.

RBC Aboriginal Student Awards Program

This scholarship is intended to support those Aboriginal students who have at least 2 years remaining in their current academic program. Scholarship recipients are selected primarily on the basis of personal and academic achievements, and individual financial need. Status Indians, Non-status Indians, Inuit and Metis are welcome to apply. Selected students will receive up to $4000 per academic year for educational and living expenses for 2 to 4 years.

RBC awards ten scholarships in two categories for students:

• Majoring in disciplines related to the financial services industry

• Majoring in disciplines unrelated to the financial services industry.

To be eligible for the scholarship, application AND supporting documents are to be received by RBC by 11:59 pm EST on February 28, 2017

Explore Program

Are you looking for a Spring/Summer program to learn French? Do you want to discover another region of Canada and meet new people? Go Explore! The five week French-Language Bursary Program may be for you. Most expenses are covered! Explore is a five-week intensive language-immersion program. Participants in Explore receive a $2,200 bursary (taxable income) that covers tuition fees for the programs, instructional materials, meals and accommodations, workshops, and other mandatory activities. Discover another region of Canada while learning French. Enjoy five weeks of learning and adventure, friendship and discovery.

The Future Health Research & Innovation Scholarship $2,500

IWK Research Services is proud to announce that they will be offering a new scholarship to Maritime students. The scholarship recognizes outstanding Grade 12 students within the Maritimes who have demonstrated an early interest in health related research and/or innovation.

Grade 12 students must intend on continuing their education at a Maritime post-secondary institution (college or university) in a field that will enhance health research and/or innovation. The student must write an essay (3 page maximum, double spaced, 12 point font) demonstrating their interest in health related research and/or innovation and how it will improve the health and well-being of children, women or families in the Maritimes. The student must provide one academic and one character letter of reference. Lastly the student must provide their academic transcripts, and have a minimum average of 75%.

Harrison McCain Scholarship/Bursary

The Harrison McCain Scholarships/Bursaries are available annually to entering students attending University who have graduated from a high school in Canada. Each award has a program value of $16,000 payable over a four year course of study in the amount of $4,000 per year. Criteria for the awards include a minimum 80% average in senior year of high school, financial need, leadership qualities, and a recognized initiative in funding your own education. The number of scholarships/bursaries available may vary from year to year. Renewal criteria to be met each year.

2017 Fred Ross Scholarship

This is a 4 year renewable scholarship. An initial payment of $2000 will be awarded on entrance to a recognized institution. It will be renewed annually based on demonstration of successful completion of established university standards in first, second, and third years of study.

To be eligible for the Fred Ross Scholarship, the applicant must:

• Be in a final year of study at a New Brunswick High School

• Be pursuing post secondary education in visual arts or fine craft

• Gain acceptance at a recognized educational institution.

Co-op Atlantic McEwen Scholarship

The Board of Directors of Co-op Atlantic awards two McEwen Scholarships annually. Worth $1,000 and renewable for four years to a maximum value of $4,000, a scholarship will be awarded in each of the following categories:

1. Member or dependent of a member of the Co-operative of Co-op Atlantic.

2. Full-time or part-time employee or dependent of a full-time employee of Co-op Atlantic or one of its member co-operatives.

2018 Sheila Mackay Advanced Studies Scholarship

The Sheila Mackay Advanced Studies Scholarship is available annually to New Brunswick residents entering a recognized graduate or doctoral program in either studio based work or in academic studies in Art History, Art Education or Art Gallery and Museum Studies. A maximum of $5,000 is awarded on the recommendation of an independent jury of art professionals.

• Applicants must have been residents of New Brunswick at least 5 consecutive years prior to an application.

• Applicants must have made an application to study visual art at a recognized degree granting institution in either studio based or academic field of study at a masters or doctoral level.

• Proof of acceptance for the program of study will be required before funds are distributed.

Stacey Levitt Memorial Award

The Stacey Levitt Memorial Award was created in memory and celebration of her life. On August 30, 1995, Stacey was struck and killed by a car while jogging in North Toronto. She was only 18 years old.

Stacey loved life, and this annual student award encourages Canadian youth to embody Stacey’s qualities and ideals, and Parachute’s overarching goal of a long life lived to the fullest, while maintaining an approach that is rooted in risk management and injury prevention. The selected recipient will receive $2,500 to do just that.

Eligibility: The award is open to anyone currently attending a Canadian secondary school.

Dalhousie University Entrance Scholarship/Bursary

To be Eligible to entrance awards at Dalhousie for the 2018/19 academic year, students must:

• Apply for admission to Dalhousie University (with supporting documents) by March 15

• Submit a General Entrance Award application (with supporting documents) by March 15

The General Entrance Scholarship/Bursary application is available online for students who have already been accepted through DalOnline. Instructions to access DalOnline are in the students' admissions kits. The same application is also available in paper format for students who have not yet been accepted.

Dairytown Agriculture and Food Science Scholarship

Open to all New Brunswick students, attending a post-secondary institution, the coming scholastic year, in a field relating to Agriculture or Food Science. Available are 2 one-time scholarships of $2,500. Monies will be paid after the first semester. Applications must be sent with an official transcript, two letters of reference and completed application.

Name, current institution of study if applicable, institution attending in the fall and program of study are required.

Essay 1 – approximately 250 words – How will getting your education further your future in agriculture or food science?

Essay 2 – approximately 500 words – If you could develop a custom product with a lot of dairy in it, what would it be and why?

RBC Students Leading Change Scholarships

There are 15 RBC Students Leading Change Scholarships in total (each, a “scholarship”), allocated amongst 3 student categories: 5 for graduating high school students, 5 for students in their first degree or diploma program, and 5 for students in their second degree or diploma program. There are six (6) scholarships which are exclusively offered to clients of Royal Bank of Canada (“Royal Bank”). The remaining nine (9) scholarships are offered to both clients and non-clients of Royal Bank. More information on terms and conditions can be found at

Scholarship, Claire Duclos Education Fund

Individuals actively pursuing an education and/or certification in records and information management residing within the Province of New Brunswick or members of the Atlantic Chapter are eligible for this scholarship.

Students enrolled in a full-time program are eligible for a five hundred dollar ($500) scholarship; students enrolled in a part-time program such as correspondence and online courses and the Fundamentals of Records and Information management courses offered at NBCC are eligible for a two hundred fifity dollars ($250) scholarship; and/or individuals pursuing certification (CRM) are eligible for up to a two hundred fifty dollar ($250) scholarship.

The successful candidate(s) will be announced in April 2013 and presented with an award at the Chapter's Annual General Meeting held in May 2013. The deadline for this year's application is March 31, annually

Mary Majka Scholarship

The Mary Majka Scholarship fund is open to New Brunswick students from middle school to those attending an undergraduate program. Awards will be granted on a yearly basis ranging from $250 to $1000, depending on the number of applicants and funds available.

Two types of scholarships are available:

1. Awarded to a person that is or will be studying in the field of natural sciences with an interest in nature and the environment (awarded as a study scholarship), and/or

2. Awarded to a youth wanting to further their knowledge in the natural sciences (awarded as a contribution to cover specific expenses such as for workshop participation)

Bell Aliant Pioneers of New Brunswick Chapter 51 Scholarship Foundation, Inc.

To be eligible for one of these scholarships, applicants must have a physical or mental disability and be a resident of New Brunswick. Students meeting this criteria and who will be completing high school, as well as eligible students who completed high school in recent years and who have not yet completed any further educational programs beyond high school are encouraged to apply.

Each applicant is assessed on his/her academic ability, community and school participation, plans for continued education, long-term goals, and the need for financial assistance.

• Complete the scholarship application form.

• Enclose a transcript of marks.

• The foundation will be submitting notification of any awards to newspapers and other media outlets in recipients’ region.

• Successful applicants and news agencies will be made aware of the awarding of scholarships in June, 2015.

Lutz/Lutes Family Scholarship

The Lutz/Lutes Family Scholarship, valued at $1,000 is to be awarded annually to a deserving high school student, who will use said award toward the costs of the first year of his/her education at an accredited college, university or other educational institution in Atlantic Canada.

The recipient will have demonstrated high academic achievement and financial need. Completed applications received on or before April 1st of each calendar year will be considered. Decisions will be announced on or before May 1st of that same year. Please come to the Guidance office for more information.

Gaspard LP Keep Canada Green Online Scholarship Contest

1. How to Enter:

Limit one entry per person. Eligible entrants may enter the Contest at the contest website of Gaspard LP (herein referred to as the "Sponsor") at keepcanadagreencontest.ca, and complete a series of online trivia questions; in doing so providing required personal information. Individual trivia responses will generate one total cumulative score; of which the highest cumulative score(s) from each of the areas selected by Gaspard LP will be awarded a prize. The breakdown of the ten (10) prizes in the specific areas selected by Gaspard are as follows: a prize will be awarded to each of the top two highest cumulative scores in British Columbia; a prize will be awarded to the highest cumulative score in Alberta; a prize will be awarded to the highest cumulative score out of the following provinces: Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Yukon, and Nunavut; a prize will be awarded to the highest cumulative score in Manitoba; a prize will be awarded to each of the top three highest cumulative scores in Ontario; a prize will be awarded to the highest cumulative score in Newfoundland and Labrador; and a prize will be awarded to the highest cumulative score out of the following provinces: Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia). Wessex Scholarship $5000 Pursuing a career in health care? Apply today!

Eligibility: Eligible applicants will be from Atlantic Canada and entering, or already enrolled in, a post-secondary health care degree level program at an Atlantic Canadian institution. This scholarship focuses on the impact of community service and as such, applicants should be active participants in their community. A minimum grade average of 80 % is required.

2016-2017 Credit Counselling Services of Atlantic Canada, Inc. Scholarship

Credit Counselling Services of Atlantic Canada, Inc. (CCSAC) is holding a scholarship competition open to residents of Atlantic Canada (regardless of age) who will be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary program for the 2016-2017 academic year. IWK Foundation – Robbie & Jean Shaw Scholarship

The Robbie and Jean Shaw Scholarship Fund was created by a group of dedicated donors interested in paying tribute to the Shaw family for their long-term commitment to making the world a better place. Specifically, Robbie and Jean love the IWK and they believe in the potential and passion of every young person to make a meaningful difference, in part, thanks to a strong educational foundation. IWK children and youth have a special place in Robbie and Jean’s hearts because of their long term professional and volunteer experience with the IWK Health Centre and the IWK Foundation.

The IWK Foundation invites applications for the Robbie and Jean Shaw Scholarship. This scholarship will offer annual post-secondary grants to former or present IWK patients. Applicants may be entering any year of post-secondary studies to be eligible.

The Harry M. Daley Memorial Bursary was established in recognition of one of the founding fathers of the Credit Union movement in New Brunswick. Eight (8) bursaries valued at $3,000 each will be awarded in 2013.

Youth Scholarship Program for Students with Disabilities

NB Pioneer Legacy Tourism Scholarship

TIANB/AITNB has taken over the management of the New Brunswick Restaurant and Food Association Foundation (NBRFAF) Tourism Scholarship program to assist a deserving student with their post-secondary education.

The Pioneer Legacy Tourism Scholarship enables students to pursue post-secondary education leading to a career in the Tourism Industry. The award consists of $1000 offered to one student annually, to offset education expenses at a post-secondary institution within the Province of New Brunswick.

Successful candidates must be from NB and pursuing a recognized post-secondary program of study relevant to the Tourism Industry within New Brunswick.

TIANB/AITNB Scholarship

The Tourism Industry Association of New Brunswick has actively been involved in career awareness, training and education since its inception. In 2002 TIANB decided to develop a scholarship program to help students pursuing an education and career in tourism.

This scholarship enables students to pursue a secondary education leading to excellence within the Tourism Industry. TIANB awards two $1000 scholarships to two students annually.

Successful candidates must be pursuing a recognized post-secondary undergraduate program of study relevant to the Tourism Industry.

The Fredericton Women’s Executive

Value: $500-$3000

Objective: To encourage the pursuit of post-secondary studies for female students who exhibit the following:

• Academic Achievement

• Financial Need (without assistance would be unable to pursue post-secondary education, due to such things as single parenting disability, undue hardship, etc.)

• Extra -curricular Activities

Students must:

• Have a minimum grade 12 or equivalent diploma

• Be enrolled in a full-time, post secondary degree or diploma program at a post secondary institution in Fredericton or surrounding area recognized by the Canada Student Loan Program and entering the 2016-2017 academic school year.

NBTA Credit Union Education Award

The NBTA Credit Union presents a minimum of five education awards of $1,000 each, annually. These awards are available to students whose parents are member-owners of the NBTA Credit Union as well as to any member-owner of the NBTA Credit union. The awards are non-renewable, but may be re-applied for each year. The awards are contingent on actual full-time enrolment in a post-secondary institution.

Frank Fraser Joslin and Blanche I. (Hood) Joslin Scholarship The Scholarship is open for application from any student meeting the following requirements:

• Student must be graduating from a York County, NB high school

• Student must be between the ages of 17 and 30 at the time of application

• Student must have been a resident of York County for at least three years prior to his or her application

• Student must show proof of application to an accredited agricultural college/university program or veterinary college/university program

Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements must submit the following documents prior to the end of the day, May 1st

• Short (1,000 words or less) essay

• 3 letters for recommendation

CUPE Local 2745 Scholarship

Four scholarships valued at $1000 each are available annually for attendance at any Post-Secondary Institution: University, Community College or other accredited Post-Secondary Institution. Those eligible are:

1. Union members leaving work to upgrade their education in good standing with CUPE Local 2745.

2. Sons, daughters, or legal wards of a member in good standing of a CUPE Local 2745.

Basis of awards: Consideration will be give to graduation marks, aptitude, promise and need.

Applications must be on the prescribed form and must be received by May 1st annually All criteria must be adhered to in order for the application to be reviewed. Applications are available in the Guidance Office.

YU Tech Sales Bursaries – Oulton College

Qimple, Oulton College and Dovico announced a new partnership between the three Moncton-based organizations. The partnership will see the creation of the YU Tech Sales Bursaries. The bursaries are designed to benefit two deserving Grade 12 New Brunswick students who demonstrate a financial need, personal interest in a sales career in the local tech industry and a plan to enroll in Oulton College’s Business Marketing and Sales Diploma program. The successful applicants will receive full tuition coverage for their diploma program at Oulton, plus a practicum option with Qimple or Dovico.

Hugh H. Mackay-James A. MacMurray Scholarship Fund

The HUGH H. MACKAY-JAMES A. MACMURRAY scholarships are open to residents of the Province of New Brunswick who will graduate from high school in May/June of the year of application and who intend to enroll in a New Brunswick, Nova Scotia or Prince Edward Island University in the fall of the same year.

Scholarships will be awarded, each with a minimum value of $3,500.00 per year for each of the four years of the student's degree program, to a maximum cumulative total of $14,000.

CRITERIA

Each candidate must:

• be a high school graduate in the year of application;

• be domiciled in NB;

• be an exceptional student;

• be interested in preparing for a career in business;

• complete the Official Application Form;

• submit a letter indicating personal career aspirations. Attached should be lists of activities including summer and part-time work, as well as other extra-curricular activities in which the applicant has been involved;

• ensure the school principal completes and submits the Principal's Confidential Report Form and a copy of high school records to date;

• begin studies in the fall of the year of application in a NB, NS or PE University.

Horizon Health Network Scholarships

The following scholarship applications are available at the Guidance office.

There are three different Eugene Burpee Scholarships. Two scholarships are following enrollment in a post-secondary institution.

Eugene Burpee Scholarship - Awarded each year to an individual entering or continuing their study in a recognized program for Licensed Practical Nurses. The recipient is to be a resident of Horizon Health Network, Fredericton and Upper River Valley Zone.

Eugene Burpee Scholarship – The Scholarship will be awarded each year to a student enrolled in a recognized registered nursing program. Volunteer work to support community activities such as school, health, civics, sport, recreation, culture or church will be seen as an asset. William R. Duffie Scholarship – The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school student enrolled in a post-secondary institution who has maintained passing grades and: *pursues a course of study leading to a career in a health care profession, *volunteers 50 hours per year to support community activities. Volunteer service may be in any area (eg. school, health, civics, sport, recreation, culture, church); and is a resident of Horizon Health Network, Fredericton and Upper River Valley Zone.

Proud to Care Scholarship – As part of Horizon Health Network, Fredericton and Upper River Valley Zone’s mission to provide quality health care to the people we serve, Horizon Health Network is proud to support the education of health care professions. Each year, two $1,000 scholarships will be presented to students entering the final year of study, leading to a qualifying license or certification in one of the health care professions. NB Proud Award

This award is focused on helping New Brunswick students live and work in the province following graduation. The bursary is open to Canadians and newcomers to Canada who have completed the requirements for high school graduation in New Brunswick and have been accepted into a post-secondary program offered in the province.

ONB will present 12 awards valued at $1,000 each in June 2018. One award will be given to an individual in each region as defined by the NB Regional Service Commissions. Awards are not renewable.

Credit Union Omista 2017 Bursary Application

Bursaries, valued at $500 each, will be awarded by OMISTA Credit Union. Bursary Recipients will be announced during the week of June 19th, 2017.

Eligibility:

• Student must be in full-time attendance at an accredited university, community college, or certified program in Canada as of September 2017.

• Student must be an OMISTA Credit Union customer, child, or grandchild of an OMISTA customer, as of February 1st, 2017.

Dialogue New Brunswick is offering two $1,000 scholarships to grade 12 students who will have graduated high school within the Anglophone Sector of the New Brunswick Department of Education as well as two $1,000 scholarships to grade 12 students who will have graduated high school within the Francophone Sector of the New Brunswick Department of Education.

Fredericton Chamber of Commerce Scholarship

Created by the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce in 2013 to recognize a deserving student who has made a significant positive contribution to the betterment of their school and/or community and at the same time has demonstrated sound academic achievement. The fund is held and managed by the Fredericton Community Foundation.

Award is one $1,000 scholarship (one time/non-renewable) which will be awarded annually and the recipient will be recognized at a Fredericton Chamber of Commerce event.

To qualify, applicants must have completed a minimum of grade 12 or equivalent. Must be enrolled in or will be undertaking a full time or part time post-secondary degree or full time or part time program at a post-secondary institution such as a university, community college, private institution or school of trade where tuition is payable by the student. The institution must be recognized under the Canada Student Loan program. Applicants must be a full or part time employee of a member in good standing of the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, OR be the child, spouse or partner of a member or their employee.

2015 Monsanto Fund Opportunity Scholarship Program

Monsanto Canada is pleased to announce details of its 2013 Opportunity Scholarship program. Monsanto Opportunity Scholarship

The Monsanto Fund Opportunity Scholarship Program is available to Canadian high school students who are enrolled in their final year of high school as of May 29, 2017 and eligible to graduate from high school in 2017. Those eligible for a scholarship must be planning to enroll at a Canadian post-secondary institution (degree or diploma) in a first-year agriculture, food science or culinary program.

Kidney Foundation of Canada, Atlantic Canada Branch, Bursary

The general purpose of the program is to assist kidney patients and their family members to further their education and/or training.

• The total funds available are $2,000 annually. Four awards of Five Hundred Dollars each may be awarded each year.

The bursaries will be awarded according to the criteria established and approved by the Atlantic Canada Branch.

• Selection of bursary recipients will be on the basis of their academic achievement, leadership, financial need and professional goals.

• Any kidney patient, the spouse of a kidney patient, or a dependent child of a kidney patient, may apply for a bursary. A kidney patient is defined as one of any mode of dialysis, is transplanted or has been diagnosed with chronic renal disease.

Maurice Daigle Scholarship fund and NB Growers Gold Tournament Scholarships 2018:

• The awards are open to students whose parent, or parents are registered growers or have been registered and are no longer required to be registered with Potatoes New Brunswick

• Applicants will study at a recognized agricultural college or university

• The award shall be announced in November of each year and awarded at the successful completion of the first semester. If the first semester has not been successfully completed by the student, the amount will not be paid out, but will be added into the Fund's principal.

Gender Equality Scholarship

The Gender Equality Scholarship is intended to encourage and support women and men pursuing a non-traditional career at a New Brunswick college. Any occupations in which women or men make up less than 25% of the total workforce is considered “non-traditional”.

MPWWA Education Bursary Application

The Maritime Provinces Water and Wastewater Association (MPWWA) will annually handout two bursaries in the amount of $1000 each. These bursaries will be handed out to a student who resides in one of the four provinces we represent.

Eligibility: In order to qualify for this bursary you must meet all of the conditions listed below:

• Be a member of the MPWWA or have a parent, grandparent or guardian who is a member in good standing of the MPWWA.

• Must be enrolled in a degree, diploma or certificate program at a recognized post-secondary educational institution.

• Bursaries awarded must be used in a program which starts or continues in the year awarded.

NB Scholarships

The National Farmers Union in New Brunswick is offering three scholarships to NB high school graduates who are entering a program at a recognized Canadian Institution. Priority will be given to students enrolling in an agricultural program.

The David Frost Memorial Scholarships are for $1000 toward a degree program and for $500 toward a two year diploma program. Applicants must be sons or daughters of a registered professional agriculture producer in NB. Applicants for the $1000 NFU in NB Scholarship must be from a family which holds an NFU membership through Service NB.

Academic standing, school and community involvement, demonstrated interest in agriculture, and financial need will be taken into consideration. Applications are in the Guidance Office.
