SUBJECT: 2017 BROWARD STUDENT LEADERS CONFERENCE

The annual Broward Student Leaders Conference will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017, location TBD On site registration will start at 8:45 a.m. and the first General Session will start at 9:30a.m. The conference will conclude at 2:00 p.m. and students must remain for the entire conference.

Each high school is entitled to send 12 delegates, at a cost of $15 per delegate, to the Broward Student Leaders Conference. Seniors are not eligible to attend as delegates. Junior student leaders who have passed the FCAT, other underclass leaders approved by the schools administration and potential leaders (i.e. club and class officers) are eligible to attend the Student Leaders Conference.

Transportation for students and student staff members from all schools absolutely no students will be allowed to travel on their own. You will receive a copy of the bus schedule as soon as the arrangements are finalized.

Consideration should be given to your school’s student government advisor to act as chaperone for your students as there will be a series of workshops for the advisors conducted in conjunction with the students’ workshops. If, due to FCAT testing, the student government advisor cannot attend, the senior or junior class sponsor may be sent.

The Department of Student Activities will assume the cost of a substitute for this person to attend. The coding for the substitute teacher is: Business Area: your school info. Type: 3, Location: your school, General: Zero (0), Functional Area: 5719761000000000 Fund 1000.

Registration forms and fees are due in the Department of Student at Pompano Beach Administrative Complex Friday, February 24, 2017.

The Broward County Association of Student Councils will provide a continental breakfast and lunch. Because food must be ordered, it is imperative that the registration form be returned on or before the due date. ***The dress code for this event is business casual within the County dress code parameters. Students not meeting the dress code are not to be allowed on the bus and must return to their regular class schedule.

Once again, Mike Smith will be the keynote speaker and Mr. Smith will conduct a workshop for advisors following the morning’s opening session.

Please remember, with the exception mentioned above, no students are to make their own transportation arrangements and all of the students are to remain for the entire session.

Also remember the following:

✓ NO registration forms will be accepted after the designated due date

✓ The number of students you register with this office is the number of students you must pay for whether they attend or not.
