Salary is prorated on a weekly basis for late start. Graduate Assistants may qualify for in-state tuition and fees. For more information on the Graduate Assistantship System and procedures: Description:The UNI STEM Graduate Assistantship for Communicating STEM is designed to provide a graduate student with an opportunity to professionally write and assist with the editing of digital articles and other publications that communicate to the university’s science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) activities. Duties would include: seeking out stories, interviewing, researching, writing stories, and gathering extra content such as images or video. An ideal candidate would be able to write professionally and creatively on topics of interest to current and potential faculty, staff, students, and the public. The candidate would be expected to be personable, timely, and capable of completing stories on a regular schedule. Copyediting and proofreading skills are a must. Additional duties will include assisting UNI STEM Staff with upkeep of social media and digital calendars for multiple audiences.Qualifications:Must be a full-time, degree-seeking student in a UNI graduate program English, Communication Studies or other related field preferred. Students in a UNI graduate program in a STEM field (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) with an undergraduate major or minor in communications will also be considered.Must be enrolled in 9 graduate credits each semester of assistantship. Maintain a UNI cumulative graduate GPA of at least 3.00.
