Grade 5 Science Pacing Guide 2015-16Note: This guide contains all the benchmarks assessed on the Grade 5 Science FCAT taught in the context of the integrated conceptual topics, including the assessed Grade 3 and Grade 4 benchmarks. Every FCAT assessed benchmark is taught in at least one context, many are addressed in multiple contexts. Formative and summative assessments are included within the text and each BEEP lesson. Additional summative mini-benchmark assessments are available for every benchmark (4 forms of 5 questions each) in Virtual Counselor.Conceptual Topic: Navigation and the Age of ExplorationNGSSSLearning TargetsFlorida Science Fusion/Hands-on KitUnit and LessonsNumber of Days HYPERLINK "" \t "_blank" SC.5.E.7.1 HYPERLINK "" \t "_blank" SC.5.E.7.2 HYPERLINK "" \t "_blank" SC.5.E.7.3 HYPERLINK "" \t "_blank" SC.5.E.7.4 HYPERLINK "" \t "_blank" SC.5.E.7.5 HYPERLINK "" \t "_blank" SC.5.E.7.6Review in context:4th?Grade HYPERLINK "" \t "_blank" SC.4.E.5.1 HYPERLINK "" \t "_blank" SC.4.E.5.3 HYPERLINK "" \t "_blank" SC.4.E.5.4Identify, describe and explain the parts of the water cycle and how water changes from one state of matter to another.Recognize that the ocean is an integral part of the water cycle.Distinguish among various forms of precipitation (rain, snow, sleet, and hail), making connections to the weather in a particular place and time.Define a problem, use appropriate reference materials to support scientific understanding, plan and carry out scientific investigations of various types such as: systematic observations, experiments requiring the identification of variables, collecting and organizing data, interpreting data in charts, tables, and graphics, analyze information, make predictions, and defend conclusions.Florida Science Fusion:Text, Digital Resources, and Hands-on Inquiry included in these units:Unit 1, Lessons 1-2Unit 3, Lessons 1-6Broward County Hands-On Kit: none30Nature of ScienceThe nature of science must be taught throughout all units of study:?
