The Lupus Society of Manitoba is proud to contribute to research projects both locally and nationally. It’s thanks to donations, bequests and fund raisers that we are able to continue to support researchers.

CaNIOS: (Canadian Network for Improved Outcomes of System Lupus Erythematosus)

CaNIOS is a unique tool for the Canadian lupus community, since it brings together widespread scientific and clinical expertise in a coordinated and collaborative spirit for the benefit of all persons with lupus.

The Lupus Society of Manitoba, along with Lupus Canada and other Canadian provincial organizations support CaNIOS on an annual basis. Contributions made to CaNIOS through our society have been met by an anonymous donor for the past three years. To learn more about CaNIOS research studies go online to: canios.ca

1000 Canadian Faces Study of Lupus:

LSMB is a proud supporter of Dr Christine Peschken’s Research program here in Manitoba. The goals of this research program are (1) to establish a longitudinal multiethnic Canadian cohort of SLE patients, (2) to characterize ethnic differences in clinical manifestations and disease outcome, (3) to identify socioeconomic, cultural, and environmental factors influencing the course and outcome of lupus in different ethnic groups, and (4) to determine the prognostic value of anti-Smith (anti-Sm) antibody in these patients.

Day Hospital Program at Health Science Center:

The Day Hospital at HSC provides space, education and services to The Arthritis Society of Manitoba, Lupus Society of Manitoba and the Scleroderma Society of Winnipeg. LSMB supports this program by donating educational material, speakers and equipment.
