Duties and Responsibilities:- Responsible for the general supervision and management of a single group of preschool children- Work alongside and be comfortable under the supervision instructing teacher- Manage the daily operation of a preschool classroom including daily preparation and clean-up - Plan and execute high-quality, age-appropriate curriculum in accordance with the Program’s mission and philosophy- Plan and prepare the learning environment according to weekly lesson plans, including but not limited to setting up interest centers and preparing needed materials- Maintain upkeep of all educational equipment and materials in classroom, including storage and organization of shared materials- Assist in creating weekly parent newsletters effectively describing classroom activities- Develop and maintain positive relationships with children, parents and families in the preschool programs- Demonstrate positive and constructive written and oral communication skills at all times- Treat all children with dignity and respect - Help children establish good eating habits and personal hygiene; assist with toilet training- Assist in program evaluation, student observation and documentation, parent involvement and family conferences- Assist in preparation and execution of parent/teacher conference records and Individual Development Plans if necessary- Work with parents to promote understanding of their child’s growth and development, school adjustment, classroom behavior and developmental progress- Provide administrative support to the Preschool Director and assist with special projects as assigned- Attend meetings, conferences and trainings as directed by the Preschool Director- Maintain a professional attitude at all timesQualifications:- Be at least 18 years of age and meet all general requirements for All Personnel and Early Childhood Teachers as stated in Section 7.702.5 in CO licensing standards for Rules Regulating Child Care Centers- Minimum of two years’ experience working with children ages 3 to 5 years ofage desired- Have experience in and knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood- Have experience managing the safety and supervision of groups of preschool children aged 2 1?2-5 years- Flexible and positive in an intense, dynamic and sometimes stressful environment- Enjoy working and playing both on the floor and outside in a variety of weather- Have a warm and friendly personality, a positive attitude and be sensitive to the needs and feelings of others- Ability to work independently and as a team member- Have excellent organizational and planning skills- Ability to exercise excellent judgment and make quick, rational decisions in Situations affecting the wellbeing of children in the program- Ability to exercise tact, discretion and confidentiality among all constituents- Have strong communication skills with young children, families, and co-workers- Ability to exercise proper safety precautions for all work performed and in supervision of all children in the program at all times- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. repeatedlySummary: In collaboration with Early Childhood Certified Teacher develop and implementdevelopmentally appropriate curriculum for children 3 to 5 years of age.
