WORLD BOOK DAY

What an assortment of characters arrived at Nursery on Thursday 7th March from “Stickman” to “Elsa”. A great day was had by all so thank you to all those who made such a remarkable effort.

It was lovely to see Parents joining in by visiting to read their child’s favourite book.

The joy of books is encouraged daily in all rooms and such a wonderful experience for you to enjoy with your children on a one to one basis.

MOTHER’S DAY TEA

Another successful afternoon tea for Mummies was held on Tuesday 20th March, the children were very busy in the morning baking scones for their Mummies to enjoy. Mummies enjoyed cream tea with their child.

This was a good opportunity for Mummies to spend time with their child in Nursery which the children really enjoyed.

Parent participation is encouraged all year round and we really thrive on our open-door policy so please feel free to speak to a member of staff if you would like to come in for story time, activities or a free play session.

We look forward to hearing from you in the future!

BABY ROOM

It has been fun having lots of new babies settling in and watching them explore their new environment, also some have moved over to Toddler Room and have settled well.

In Baby Room we have explored China which we tied in with Chinese New Year and enjoyed tasting noodles.

We have also been busy making lots of things for our new Spring display such as a blossom tree, flowers and spring lambs.

Babies had fun dressing up for world book day where we had a sailor girl, a dinosaur and where’s Wally. The children loved having their story read at circle time.

We have also had a sensory week, where we explored different textures in our material treasure basket and was busy painting, sticking and filling bottles to create sensory bottles.

TODDLER ROOM

We recently explored Poland which the children really enjoyed, decorating traditional dress and creating traditional food with the play-dough.

During circle times it has been observed that the wheels on the bus is a favourite song loved by the Toddlers now, so we have explored it as a topic. The children enjoyed using mud from the garden to rub onto wheels for a natural effect.

The recent snow was a hit with most of the Toddlers. We enjoyed watching the snow fall from the windows before going out to explore it more thoroughly. Some of the children liked feeling the snow using their hands and others used their feet to make trails in the snow.

Over the past few months we have had a range of role play areas set out within the room, including a kitchen, children’s ward in the hospital and a hair dresser salon. The children have shown a great interest and with adult support and guidance, they are learning how to use the different pieces of equipment.

A story bag has just been created using the book ‘The very hungry caterpillar’. The bag contains the story and some props which encourage the children to follow the sequence of the story or develop their imagination by retelling their own version of the story. This bag is available to take home. If you are interested, please ask a member of Toddler Room staff.

PRE/SCHOOL & NURSERY CLASS

We recently had fun learning all about Ireland for St Patricks day and were shown how to do Irish dancing from Seana also Erin made a very tasty rainbow cake.

We have also learnt about the Aquarium as it was one of Euan’s, Jack and Alma’s interests and learnt fun facts about under the sea.

The children were all keen to learn about zero pond and King 1 and are very proud that they can show you zero with their hands. Look out for our King 1 display.

We have been on walks to get ingredients for cooking, finding numbers in the environment and even a trip to the park!

Up and coming topics: we will be preparing for school leavers so getting ready for school and planting in the garden for Spring.

A Note From Rochelle (PARENT Co-ordinator)

Thank you for the Mummies that joined us for Mother’s Day tea. It was lovely to see you all and how excited the children were to share tea with you after they helped to make the scones in the morning.

A coffee morning was also organised, however sadly nobody attended. If you are unable to attend coffee evenings, please could you send in some suggestions of what would work for you, so I can arrange something else to keep our partnership with parents going well.
