In July of 2020, the city of Greer celebrated the completion of the CenterG Project Phase 1. This project was started in January of 2018 and has transformed the downtown area with a new streetscape design, lighting improvements, and landscaping. During this same period, the Greer Commission of Public Works invested $2.5 million dollars in infrastructure improvements in the downtown area.

At the completion of phase 1, the city of Greer announced that it would invest an additional $4.6 million in phase 2, which will extend the downtown streetscape work north from Poinsett and North Main to Arlington Avenue.

As of the summer of 2020, projects in the downtown Greer area include the construction of a 108 room Hampton Inn hotel, a city owned 340 space parking deck, and ParkView Greer, a development which will have 240 upscale apartments, retail space, and a standalone brewery/resturant
