Analysis of Famous Speeches

Objective:

In this lesson you will be able to research famous speeches including the history of the speaker and why the speech made an impact on society.. In addition to this, you will be able to analyze the speech for qualities of an effective speech. .

Task:

Visit the following websites:

✓

✓ speeches/previous.htm

Pick 3 famous speeches delivered by a President and pick 3 from a list of significant people for a total of 6 speeches.

Then complete the following:

✓ Write a one - page paper on the history of the person presenting the

speech and the influence the speech had on society at that time and still

today.

✓ In addition to this, complete the speech analysis guide for each speech.

Guidelines for Essays and Analysis Guides

✓ You will have to complete a total of 6 one- page short essays and 6 speech analysis guides.

✓ All one- page essays must be printed and attached to speech analysis

✓ Each essay should have a MLA heading (single – spaced)

✓ Times New Roman/ 12 Font/ Double Spaced

✓ Assignment will be entered into the speech category, which is 50% of your grade.

✓ You will meet in the computer lab (323) everyday - March 31st – April 4th. Aim to complete one speech assignment per day.

Due Date: Monday – April 7th

I will not take any papers late!!! Use your time in the lab wisely and remember to bring headphones so that you can listen to speeches when available.
