Luka JudeMrs. BaethkeEnglish II28 October 2014School UniformsStudents in all public high schools in the state of Minnesota should be required to wear uniforms selected by their school each day. By requiring uniforms in all public high schools, students will no longer feel the pressure to purchase expensive clothes, it will place all students on a level playing field, and it will help address decency standards. If students are all expected to wear the same basic uniform, then parents will no longer be expected to purchase expensive clothes from trendy stores. Places like Abercrombie and Fitch and American Eagle sell high-priced clothing that could place a financial strain on families. Uniforms will be a fraction of the cost of “fashionable” teenage clothing. If all students are in uniforms, no one will be singled out for not dressing in a particular way. Students who cannot afford the trendy clothes will not have to feel badly about it because they will all be wearing the same style of clothing. Students will no longer be bullied or made fun of for their clothing choices or style. Lastly, having students wear uniforms will prevent problems with girls showing too much cleavage or wearing short skirts and shorts and boys sagging their pants and showing their underwear. This will take the burden from teachers of constantly nagging students to alter their appearance. It will become a non-issue because the uniform options will ensure that boys and girls are both covered appropriately. By requiring all public high school students across the state to wear uniforms, the focus in schools can move back to educating students and away from reprimanding students.School UniformsStudents in all public high schools in the state of Minnesota should be required to wear uniforms selected by their school each day.
