Sophomore Welcome & Orientation Meeting – Frequently Asked QuestionsScheduleWhat is the difference between the M/W/F and T/R schedules?On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, students will have office hours where teachers can meet with students between first and second block. On Tuesday and Thursday, this time will be used for advisory/homeroom.What are the main differences between periods and blocks?Time wise, blocks are 40 minutes longer (33 virtually). Most East students would say the format is beneficial for multiple reasons. The smaller number of classes usually yields less homework. Additionally, the longer time period allows for a variety of lectures and activities in the same class period that break up the time more.Supplies/MaterialsIs there a school supplies list? / When should I purchase school supplies?There is no specific list of supplies that every student must have. Use the supplies that will keep you as an individual organized. If there is a specific item that is needed for a class, the teacher will inform you of it and give you adequate time to acquire it.AthleticsAre athletics still occurring?In short, yes, sports are still occurring with modifications. Any specific questions about athletics should be directed to the respective coaches.Will spectators be allowed to watch sports games?Spectators will not be allowed to attend the games live. However, we have a livestreaming service that spectators can watch from home.MusicWill auditions still occur this year?As of now, different auditions will likely occur with modifications. Those accepted into the homeroom vote for higher officer positions: president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer.ClubsHow do I join a club?Each club has a different application process.
