Note the two versions above: the (New International Version), NIV, version calls satan the morning star! As does Contemporary English Version, GOD’S WORD Translation, Good News Translation, New International Reader's Version, New International Version - UK, Today's New International Version, New International Version 1984.
The Authorized Version, or King James Version of 1611, quickly became the standard for English-speaking Protestants, and it calls satan, O Lucifer, son of the morning! One is incorrect.
The NIV, and these others mentioned above, gives satan the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, for He alone is the Morning Star! Literally making satan equal to the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Those that come from the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth are called sons of God having the very nature by adoption as the Morning Star, the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, and they are called morning stars, sons of God, the True Worshipers, the True Believers!
KJV, Lucifer, the son of the morning, the star that goes before the sun or comes up in the morning before the sun, is called Lucifer, to whom Nebuchadnezzar is compared here to satan -- meaning a shining one, or the bearer of light. In many ancient cultures, including that of the Hebrews, the "morning star -- which they called Venus" (NOTE: which isn't a star at all, it's the planet Venus which in the early day sky resembles a star. (Venus is a "fake star" of the morning) was associated with bad omens and evil. Lucifer (literal meaning "bearer of light" comes from the root word meaning:
to boast, glory, make one's boast
to make a fool of, make into a fool
to act madly, act like a madman))
These false versions of the Holy Bible, make their personification of the planet Venus, the so-called "morning star, again though, it was not a star" but one that deceives the unknowing into believing he, satan, is the Morning star, since Lucifer, satan, desires to be like God, to be as the Lord Jesus Christ. We also get a somewhat related word -- sinister -- from the same origin, meaning bad, evil, base, or wicked which came from the same association with the planet Venus. The "star" Venus was worshiped by the Assyrians as male at sunrise, female at sunset. Isn't it interesting that the pagan Romans took such a different view, and considered Venus the goddess of love and worshiped her?

Changing God's Words — What's New About That?

The new NIV Bible translation, the TNIV, has finally gotten Bible scholars' attention to God's words. Wayne Grudem wrote a scathing article in World magazine against the TNIV, its publisher (Zondervan Press) and its copyright holder (International Bible Society, or IBS). In his article, "Changing God's Words," he lists 15 changed verses from the NIV to the TNIV and five bad principles of TNIV translation, such as "removing whole phrases from the Bible."
Words have been removed from the Bible for over 1,800 years! Over 17 whole verses and thousands of words are missing in most "modern" translations and almost no one notices. Furthermore, it's not just the TNIV. They're also missing from the NIV, NASV, Message, NLT, Holman CSB and hundreds of others. Why? Because for 120 years, "scholars" have been printing the wrong Bible!
You see, there are two streams of Bibles, not just one. Each stream of Bibles has its own history. The Northern Stream originated in Antioch of Syria, where "the disciples were called Christians first" (Acts 11:26). These believers faithfully copied and accurately translated the Bible. Why? Because they believed God's promise to preserve His words (Psalm 12:6-7; Matthew 24:35, etc.). And they didn't want to sin by adding to or taking away from God's holy Bible. (See Revelation 22:18-19; Deuteronomy 4:1-2; Proverbs 30:5-6). The Bible-believers in Antioch took God at His word. So God preserved His words through Antioch. One of the translations made there was the Old Latin, which spread across the Roman empire, all the way to England, before 200 AD!
The Reformation was started by men who received God's words in Greek or Old Latin. The 1500s saw many advances in English translation. But God settled His word in English in 1611 with the advent of the King James Bible, God's words in English.
The other stream is the perverted Southern Stream that began in Alexandria, Egypt, a hotbed of early pagan philosophers. These geniuses, especially a fake Christian leader named Origen, decided that God didn't mean what He said. Origen didn't believe in much of the Bible's miracles, Jesus' words, or even that the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth is Almighty God! So Origen removed God's words that said Jesus is God, thousands of other words, and often wrote in his own opinions instead.
However, in Alexandria, things aren't that simple. Their "scholars" didn't merely hate God's words - they couldn't agree on what to write in their fake Bibles! In the 300s and 400s, when the famous Sinaiticus, Vaticanus and Alexandrinus manuscripts were written, they disagreed in over 3,000 places in the Gospels alone. What a mess!
These counterfeit “Bibles” began to spread in the early 300s when Constantine ordered 50 Alexandrian Bibles. Later in the century, Jerome was commissioned to make Origen's Bible into Latin. And so the Roman Catholic Latin Vulgate was born.
When Bible-doubters got together in the 1800s to "fix" the King James Bible, which stream of Bibles did they choose? That's right: the Southern, Alexandrian/Roman Catholic stream. All modern versions are traced from this polluted stream with missing verses and changed meanings.
The fruit of these Bibles is obvious. The Northern Stream has always produced faith in God and revivals. The Southern Stream also produces a revival - of DOUBT.

The same voice that after wards called the Apostle John up to Heaven, now he hears behind him on earth-the voice of the Son of man, the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth. The Lord Jesus Christ summons the Apostle John's attention with power; and turning to see the voice, as Moses towards the bush, the Apostle John sees, not the image of God's presence in Israel, but the vessels of God's light in the earth, and a complete summary of it all, and, in the midst of them, the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth as Son of man.

A star fall from heaven to the earth. This fallen star, which was to be of God's Kingdom here on earth, but who instead fell from it to become the slave of satan. Some think this "star" represents some eminent Bishop in the Christian church, some angel (Angel=God's Messenger) of the Church, but there are false stars, called wandering stars; for, in the same way of speaking by which Pastors are called Stars, the Church on earth is likewise spoken of as like unto heaven; we are to pray that God's Will is done here on earth as in Heaven. The Church, may be considered a small bit of heaven on earth where True Worshipers pray that God's Will is done, and is like unto an island of the Kingdom of God in Heaven here on earth, which is in the midst of the evil of the world system controlled by the prince of the power of air, satan. God's Church owned by, bought and paid for by the blood of His Only Begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, is to be a pillar and ground of the Truth. This star fallen from heaven, i.e.: God's True Church on earth, "pope" Boniface the third bishop of Rome, who assumed the title of universal bishop, by the favor of the emperor Phocas, who, being a usurper and tyrant in the state, allowed "pope" Boniface to be so in the church, as the reward of his flattery.
Boniface obtained leave from the Emperor Phocas to convert the Pantheon, Rome into a Christian church, and on May 13, 609 (?) the temple erected by Agrippa to Jupiter the Avenger, to Venus, and to Mars was consecrated by the pope to the Virgin Mary and all the Martyrs. It was the first instance at Rome of the transformation of a pagan temple into a place of Christian worship. Twenty-eight cartloads of sacred bones were said to have been removed from the Catacombs and placed in a porphyry basin beneath the high altar.
The Pantheon ([pic] /ˈpænθiːən/ or US /ˈpænθiːɒn/;[1] Latin: Pantheon,[nb 1] from Greek: Πάνθειον, an adjective meaning "to every god") is a building in Rome, at the Vatican commissioned by Marcus Agrippa as a temple to all the gods of Ancient Rome, and rebuilt by Emperor Hadrian in about 126 CE.[2] The nearly-contemporary writer (2nd–3rd centuries CE), Cassius Dio, speculated that the name comes either from the statues of so many gods placed around this building, or else from the resemblance of the dome to the heavens.[
2. To this fallen star, the "pope" was given the key of the bottomless pit (hell) while claiming to be the sole individual holding the key to the Lord Jesus Christ's True Church on earth. Having now ceased to be a minister of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, he becomes the antichrist, the minister and slave of the devil (satan); and all this by the permission of the Lord Jesus Christ, who had taken from him the keys of the church, he becomes the devil's turnkey, to let loose the powers of hell against the True Churches of Christ. 3. Upon the opening of the bottomless pit there arose a great smoke, which darkened the sun and the air. The devils are the powers of darkness; hell is the place of darkness. The devil (satan) carries on his designs by blinding the eyes of men, by extinguishing the Light of God's Truth in and by the Lord Jesus Christ and His True knowledge, and instead this antiChrist as "pope" promotes ignorance and error. He first deceives men, and then destroys them; wretched souls follow him into outer darkness. 4. Out of this dark smoke there came a swarm of locusts, one of the plagues of Egypt, the devil's emissaries headed by the antiChrist, all the rout and rabble of antiChristian orders under the "pope," come to promote superstition, idolatry, error, and cruelty; and these had, by the just permission of God, power to hurt those who had NOT the mark of God in their foreheads (those NOT Born Again). 5. The hurt they were to do them was not a bodily, although sometimes they certainly killed their bodies (that is of the Saints of God, but not so mentioned here in Revelation 9, but their main hurt was a spiritual hurt. They should not in a military way destroy all by fire and sword; the trees and the grass should be untouched, and those they hurt should not be slain; it should not be a persecution, but a secret poison and infection in their souls, which should rob them of their purity, and afterwards of their peace. Heresy is a poison in the soul, working slowly and secretly, but will be bitterness in the end.

5And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.

The Prophecy then of Micah 5:5 concerns the destruction of the Turk or Ottoman Empire (Muslims) in the latter day by the Christian princes (Kings).
12 Micah 5:7-8
7And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the LORD, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men.
8And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, both treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.
The remnant of Israel, converted to and by the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth in the early Christian Church, were among many nations as the drops of dew, and were made instruments of God in and by the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth in calling a large increase of spiritual worshipers by the Jews first, then the Gentiles. To those who opposed this salvation, the Apostles and early Christians would be as lions, cause them terror, the Apostle's Doctrine condemning them who were lost to eternal hell. The Lord Jesus Christ also declares that He would cause not only the reformation of the Jews, but the purification of the True Christian Church.
The remnant of Jacob is the instrument of refreshing, in the precious Grace that comes from God, and waits not for the labored and varied efforts of man. They shall be as the dew upon the grass, that tarry not for man, nor wait for the sons of men. Israel is also that which rises up among the nations, as a lion among the beasts of the field, from whom none can deliver. They are the instruments and testimony of the power of God. The blessing and the strength of Jehovah God is with them, the Prophet Micah declares, that all the enemies of Israel shall be cut off and perish. Jehovah God will at the same time destroy out of the midst of Israel all their false human strength, their chariots, their strong cities—all that ministers to the pride of man and leads him to trust in himself. He will destroy all their idols; Israel shall no longer worship the works of their own hands; every trace of idolatry shall be taken away. At the same time vengeance and wrath, such as had not been heard of, shall be executed upon the nations by God for their disbelief, trespasses and sins.
Therefore, this remnant or Church which God will deliver will only depend on God's power and defense (as does the grass of the field), and not on the hope of man. The remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many peoples . . . . The Jews, who will be converted in the latter day, the remnant of them according to the Election of Grace, as well as all true Israelites, whether Jews or Gentiles, the Lord's Chosen and peculiar people; who, though but a small number in comparison of others, and mean (mean-- lacking distinction or eminence, i.e.: humble, lacking in mental discrimination of worldly ways, i.e.: dull, of poor or shabby inferior quality or status, worthy of little regard, i.e: contemptible, lacking dignity or honor, i.e.: base) and contemptible in the eyes of men, are such as God has made a reserve of for Himself; and these, though not of the world, yet are in the world, are a distinct people from it, and of no account in it; nevertheless will be visible in it, and wonderfully preserved in the midst of it: and will be as a dew from the Lord God; both with respect to themselves, being like to dew for the generation in which they live, which is from above, from heaven, and of God, as their regeneration is; and which secretly and silently falls as the Grace of God in regeneration does; and for the number of the drops of it, which are not to be reckoned; and so numerous are the people of God, at least they will be in the latter day, when the Lord Jesus Christ shall again have the dew of his youth; or such a number of converts, as will be like the drops of the morning dew; as also for the favor, Grace, and blessings of God upon them, which are as the dew; and which He Himself is as that unto them, so that they themselves are as dew from Him, being indulged with His favor; which, as the dew is entirely free, very softening, cooling, and refreshing, as well as fructifying; and having the dews of His Grace, or the blessings of it, falling upon them in plenty:

6. They had no power so much as to hurt those who had the seal of God in their foreheads (True Worshipers, Born Again Believers). God's electing, effectual, distinguishing Grace will preserve His people from total and final apostasy. 7. The power given to these factors for hell is limited in point of time: five months, a certain season, and but a short season, though how short we cannot tell. Gospel-seasons have their limits, and times of seduction are limited too. 8. Though it would be short, it would be very sharp, insomuch that those who were made to feel the malignity of this poison in their consciences would be weary of their lives, v. 6. A wounded spirit who can bear? 9. These locusts were of a monstrous size and shape, v. 7, 8, etc. Remember, locusts have no real King Proverbs 30:27-28, but their "pope" pretends to be sitting on a throne, and here in verse 11 he is called Abaddon, Apollyon - a destroyer. They were equipped for their work like horses are equipped and prepared to battle. (1.) They pretended to great authority, and seemed to be assured of victory: They had crowns like gold on their heads, these false ministers; it was not a true, but a counterfeit authority. (2.) They had the show of wisdom and sagacity, the faces of men, though the spirit of devils (demons). (3.) They had all the allurements of seeming beauty in their long robes, to ensnare and defile the minds of men—hair like women; their way of "worship" was very gaudy and ornamental. (4.) Though they appeared with the tenderness of women, they had the teeth of lions, were really cruel creatures. (5.) They had the defence and protection of earthly powers—breastplates of iron. (6.) They made a mighty noise in the world; they flew about from one country to another, and the noise of their motion was like that of an army with chariots and horses. (7.) Though at first they soothed and flattered men with a fair appearance, there was a sting in their tails; the cup of their abominations contained that which, though luscious at first, would at length bite like a serpent and sting like an adder (snake). The Roman Catholic church has always 'claimed' to be walking "with" Christ. Just as Judas "kissed" the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, so too has Rome "kissed" His Truth. They "softly and gently" send their wolves forward wearing the clothing of a little lamb so as to gently draw the masses away from Christ Jesus. They betray the Lord Jesus Christ as soft as the kiss of JUDAS!
The Threat of the Roman Catholic "church" in the 21st Century . . .
Whereas: The mass media has captivated the world with the activities of Pope John Paul II during his visit to the Holy Land in March 2000; and
Whereas: The Vatican and the Lutheran World Federation have signed, in October, 1999 a joint declaration of accord on the doctrine of justification (only the synods of Wisconsin and Missouri dissented); and
Whereas: In the middle of February, 200, PLO chairman Yasser Arafat met with Pope John Paul II at the vatican to sign an agreement regarding the future of Jerusalem that warned Israel against any unilateral decision affecting Jerusalem; and
Whereas: Bob Jones University has been unjustly slandered for anti-catholic bias by Senators McCain, Torricelli, Hollings and the liberal mass media; and
Whereas: The House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress has just appointed a Roman Catholic priest as its chaplain for the first time, March 23, 2000; and
Whereas: Pope John Paul II has declared the year 2000 a "Great Jubilee Year" for Roman Catholics that establishes the restoration of indulgences, THE VERY ISSUE THAT PROMPTED MARTIN LUTHER TO DRAFT THE 95 THESES IN OCTOBER OF 1517: papal spokesman Timothy Shugrue states, "The indulgence is one of the spiritual privileges extended during Jubilee. It is a way of applying the merits of the good deeds of the saints and the Virgin Mary and Christ Himself to the rest of us.";
Therefore: The South Atlantic Presbytery of the Bible Presbyterian Church, at its spring meeting in the Bible Presbyterian Church of Charlotte, N.C., March 25, 2000, resolves and warns the Roman Catholic Church, Mystery, Babylon the Great, Mother of Harlots and abominations of the earth (Rev 17:5) constitutes the greatest threat to fundamental Christianity in the 21st century! The Roman Catholic Church has long since forsaken the Bible alone, Grace alone, faith alone, and Christ alone. There should be no confraternity with this apostate church in ministerial associations, community easter sunrise services, Thanksgiving services, mass evangelism or common social endeavors. We admonish devout believers to lovingly and firmly win Roman Catholics to Christ and urge new converts to obey Rev. 18:4, "And I heard a another voice from heaven, saying, come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sin, and that ye receive not her plagues."

According to the Roman Catholic “church”, the great whore of Revelation , ALL of these men are misinterpreting Prophecy in the Holy Bible concerning where the man of sin comes from and who leads the whole world (satan's family) astray!
Former Catholics For Christ. In their newsletter, dated Jan/Feb/Mar, 1998, shows "pope" John Paul II allowing a Shiva priestess to create the traditional Shiva mark on his forehead. From the picture, you can see the priestess reach up with her right hand, planting the Shiva mark of Aarti upon the forehead of the Pope, John Paul II.
The New Age Dictionary defines the Shiva (pronounced "siva") as the "Hindu God of Illusion, Yoga, Animals, Ascetics; Lord of the Dance, who lives on Mt. Kailas, Benares, and sundry other places around the world". [Page 180] The Shiva religion is part of the Hindu religion, and that it is pagan.
Shiva ([pic] /ˈʃɪvə/; Sanskrit: शिव Śiva, meaning "auspicious one" ) is a major Hindu deity, and the Destroyer or transformer among the Trimurti, the Hindu Trinity of the primary aspects of the divine.[2] In the Shaiva tradition of Hinduism, Shiva is seen as the Supreme God.

The "pope" is denying, by his actions, that Christianity is the only real religion on Earth. He is doing much more: he is defying the Commandment of God:

In this form called The Lord, whose Half is Woman, is found an expression not of duality but of the union of opposites. The deity's right side is dressed in a short dhoti, the traditional male garment from pre-history to present. The left side wears more elaborate female garments and jewelry. This anthropomorphic splitting symbolizes the primal event which modern physics calls the `big bang': form emerging from void, an Original Oneness achieving multiplicity."
Shiva embodies the satanic theology of the Principle of Duality, especially as represented by the Male and Female Principle. Shiva is pure satanism. Shiva is also very typical of the New Age religion, which speaks a lot of achieving "Original Oneness" with the universe, the ultimate state desired, called Nirvana. The Catholics teach the error of Balaam (Covetousness -- lovers of money) and the gainsaying of Core (The Gainsaying of Core ("Korah")): Korah was a Kohathite Levite, and well-respected leader among the Israelites, under Moses' command in the wilderness. He gathered other leaders, and led a rebellion against Moses, and against Aaron.

10And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died, what time the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men: and they became a sign.
The Greek and Hebrew word definitions of the names reveal some of the prophetic meanings for us. Core, or Korah, was a great-grandson of Levi, grandson of Kohath, and is the occurs 32 times in Holy Scripture, and means 'assembly.'
Korah was the son of Izhar, from the Hebrew word which means 'oil; anointed,' which in turn is from the Hebrew word which means 'to glisten,' to press oil out.'
The Greek name Core comes from the Hebrew word Korah means 'bald'.

11Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
1 Who Is Korah Today?
Putting these together, we see the Prophetic picture of who "Korah" is speaking of today. Korah speaks of those who claim to be teachers of the Word today, who count themselves among the Bride's company, and who are considered "anointed" among the assembly of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Korah, seems as to speak of the leaders of today's dynamic congregations. What is the real issue here, to be seen as a signal or banner for the Bride to notice? The English word 'Gainsaying' is made up of two separate words. the prefix Gain tells us the motive; and the suffix saying, or 'saying against' tells us the action. The word translated 'Gainsaying' in the above Jude 11 passage is the Greek word 'Anti-logia' which comes from the Greek word 'antilego'. The literal definition of 'anti-logia' is "against the words" or "against the sayings," which is our English word 'contradiction.' Meaing: to speak against, contradict, to oppose one's self,
This definition tells us that what Core (Korah) actually did was to speak against or contradict, or deny the Words of God and against God's anointed, Moses and Aaron. Korah's motive was to gain self-importance, which is pride, which grew as a result of his unwillingness to submit to God's designated authority. Desiring gain, Korah spoke against the Word, or the Commands of God.
2 The Error of Balaam . . .
Let's look closely at part of the Jude 1:11 passage:
Jude 1:11
"...and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward.
Here the word 'error' is the Greek word, 'plane' pronounced plan-ay, and means "wandering, straying (from Truth); deception; delusion,". It stems from the Greek word 'planos' , meaning "deceiver" or "seducer", "wandering", "roving", "corrupter", "deceiver", "an impostor".
The phrase 'for reward' is the Greek word 'misthos', meaning "wages, hire, reward for work done," the outward' motive displayed by Balaam's work may be what they claim is 'love,' but the inward motive is really "for reward."
The word 'hireling' in the Greek is Misthotos, used in:
John 10:12-13
12But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
13The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
Hireling comes from the word which in turn stems from this same Greek word 'misthos' wages, hire dues paid for work . In John 10:12-13, The Lord Jesus Christ is warning His sheep to beware of shepherd leaders, Pastors, false teachers, those who come in to work for wages, who are mere hirelings. Thus we have another link, showing that the "Gainsaying of Core" and the "Way of Balaam for Reward" is warning us of certain spiritual leaders who outward' motive displayed by Balaam's work may be what they claim is 'love,' but the inward motive is really "for reward" and they speak against God and His Word, all the while claiming to speak for God and the Lord Jesus Christ who is God's Word.
The Roman Catholic "church" teaches the false worship of the Egyptian sun god and Babylon worship of the moon and the stars, as well as the worship of Mary, along with the worship of many many idolatrous images like the false idolatrous image representing the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth hanging on the cross. Their ways are hidden in plane site, and packaged discretely as to not be noticed by the untrained eye. Slick packaging and 1 billion sold!
Rome's reach is world wide . . . Not only are apostate Christian denominations returning to Rome, but so are pagan religions. At the last two general assemblies of the World Council of Churches, some of the main speakers were non-Christians. There were Hindus, Buddhists, Jewish rabbis, Muslims, Sikhs, Native American Indians, and Australian aborigines. Pagan altars were erected and fire offerings made to various pagan "gods". “Ecumenical” means universal, worldwide, and the present-day movement of so called Christian unity, represented by groups such as the World Council of Churches is the fore view of this worldwide apostate “church.” The WCC itself is indeed worldwide, being composed of more than 300 denominations representing some 500 million people in 100 nations. This large body of apostate Christendom has already become one in spirit with the Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox Churches, and even recognizes the so-called spirituality of non-Christian religions. The emerging “harlot church” was seen on Jan. 24, 2002, when Pope John Paul II led the third Day of Prayer for Peace in Assisi, Italy. (The first was held in 1986 and the second in 1993.)
In 2002 the ecumenical pagan prayer gathering featured some 200 religious leaders, including representatives of “Christian” denominations (Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, Reformed, Baptist, Lutheran, Mormon, Mennonite) as well as representatives of Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Bahai, Confucianism, Shintoism, Hinduism, Jainism, Zoroastrianism, and members of African and North American “traditional religions.” Prominently featured were 29 Muslim leaders from such countries as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Sudan, Morocco, and Libya, all of which persecute Christians to some degree. Thus, there is already a harlot “church” taking shape and sitting upon many waters.
Her worldwide reach identifies her with Rome (Revelation. 17:1). “... the great whore that sitteth upon many waters.” Revelation 17:15
Revelation 17:5, where we are told that she is “the mother of harlots,” meaning she is associated with others of her same character -- those after money, those who came out from her as she is their mother. No matter where you go in this dark world, Rome’s tentacles are extended there. Further, Rome is busy extending her influence by yoking together with the Christian denominations and pagan religions of the world.
A statement made in recent years by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the head of the Anglican and Episcopalian churches, shows how far the ecumenical movement has gone toward reconciliation with Rome. “We should like to see the churches of England, Scotland, the United States and any other countries, bound together in one body. If the pope would like to come in as chairman, we should all welcome him.” My question then simply is, Why were Our Reformers burned at the stake by this evil system of satan, the Roman Catholic "church"?
The "pope" of Rome calls himself the “Vicar of Christ,” or "Vicar of the Son of God" which is the Office of the Holy Spirit sent by the Lord Jesus Christ as a Christian's comforter, the "pope" thus is taking the position of God himself, which is Blasphemy!
Her clothing identifies her with Rome (Revelation 17:4). “…arrayed in purple and scarlet colour…” The Apostles and Christians of the early churches were humble Bible-believers who lived simple lives and did not follow the pattern of the world’s leaders and religions. The harlot church, led by their "mother" the great whore, on the other hand, loves impressive cathedrals, flowing robes, gorgeous ritualism, expensive ecclesiastical clothing and trappings, and showing their "success" by drawing many to themselves all for the money. Revelation 17:4 describes exactly how Rome’s bishops and archbishops and cardinals and popes are clothed even to this day. A few years ago, I watched a televised broadcast of the papal Christmas mass at the Vatican, and it looked like a sea of purple and scarlet!
The Catholic Encyclopedia describes the garments of the Catholic clergy. One is called the Cappa Magna, a cloak with a long train with a hooded shoulder cape. The color of it was purple wool for bishops, scarlet silk for cardinals, and red velvet for the pope. The Cassock was a close-fitting, ankle-length robe. The color was purple for bishops and scarlet for cardinals.
Again, Her wealth identifies her with Rome (Revelation 17:4). “... decked with gold and precious stones and pearls...” This is an accurate description of the wealth of the Catholic Church. It also describes literally the gold and jewels with which Rome has decked herself.
Here is a description of the coronation of Pope Gregory IX (1227-1241): “On the day of his coronation he proceeded to St. Peter’s, accompanied by several prelates, and assumed the pallium according to custom; and after having said mass he marched to the palace of the Lateran, COVERED WITH GOLD AND JEWELS. On Monday, having said mass at St. Peter’s, he returned wearing two crowns, mounted on a horse richly caparisoned, and surrounded by Cardinals CLOTHED IN PURPLE, and a numerous clergy. The streets were spread with tapestry, INLAID WITH GOLD AND SILVER, the noblest productions of Egypt, and the most brilliant colors of India, and perfumed with various aromatic odors” (George Waddington, A History of the Church from the Earliest Ages to the Reformation, 1834, p. 335).
The crown of Pope Paul II (1464-1471) was “set with diamonds, sapphires, emeralds, chrysolites, and jaspers” (Ouseley, A Short Defence, 1821, p. 230).
The crown of Pope Julius II was valued at 200,000 ducats or gold coins. That is as much as Pope Paul III gave to Emperor Charles V to use in the war against the Protestants in the 16th century (Miller’s Church History, chapter 46). It is also the same amount as the dowry the king of Spain gave for the marriage of his daughter, Catherine, to Arthur, Prince of Wales and heir to the British throne in the 16th century. (When Arthur died five months after the wedding, Catherine became the wife of his brother, Henry, who became the infamous King Henry VIII.)
The wealth of the Catholic Church is vast. In the 1970s, the Catholic Church was the third wealthiest “nation” behind America and Japan, and the Vatican is only 2 square miles in size. When this is added to the wealth of the apostate Protestant denominations, the sum is staggering. The harlot church is spiritually bankrupt, but amazingly full of material wealth.
Her cup identifies her with Rome (Revelation 17:4). “...having a golden cup in her hand...”
Until recent times, Catholic liturgical law required the chalice (cup of the mass) to be gold plated inside if it was not entirely of gold (Catholic Encyclopedia). The papal chalice is pure gold even to this day. The Roman Catholic Church possesses thousands of solid gold chalices in its churches around the world.
Her abominations identify her with Rome (Revelation 17:4). “full of abominations…” Indeed, Rome is filled with abominations. Her mass, which she claims is a bloodless re-sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ, is an abomination. Her sacramental salvation, her worship of Mary, her prayers to the saints, her doctrine of purgatory, her love affair with the bones of dead men, her unscriptural claims and pope, calling themselves "father" all are abominations before God.
Her violence identifies her with Rome (Revelation 17:6). “And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus...” Both the Roman Catholic "church" and certain of the Protestant denominations have been guilty of murdering and persecuting true New Testament Christians. The Roman Catholic "church" has murdered millions. No one has ever been able to count the total number. In the Netherlands alone following the Reformation, multitudes were tormented and destroyed. Consider these excerpts from a record of those persecutions dating from the 1520s:
The history of the Low Countries from this time is so full of martyrdoms, that it is like a gradual extermination of the population. ... The fires were now kindled all over the country, and edict following edict, with increasing severity, kept them burning. It was death to read a page of the scriptures; death to discuss any article of the faith; death to have in one’s possession any of the writings of Luther, Zwingle, or OEcolampadius; death to express a doubt respecting the efficacy of the sacraments, or the authority of the pope. In the year 1536, that good and faithful servant of the Lord, William Tyndale, was strangled and burnt at Vilvordi, near Brussels, for translating the New Testament into English, and printing it in 1535. ... About four hundred churches were thus plundered and defaced in a few days. ... The troops were ordered to be distributed over the distracted country, that the persecuting edicts might be enforced. The Protestants were reduced to great straits; many were put to death, and many fled the country ... In the year 1567 the cruel duke of Alva was sent into the Netherlands with an army of fifteen thousand Spaniards and Italians; and the Inquisition was to put forth all its energies. . The wooden churches were pulled down, and, in some places the beams were formed into a great gallows on which to hang the minister and his flock. [These atrocities against Bible believers were] to be witnessed almost daily in the country for nearly forty years. ... In the year 1567 ‘the council of blood,’ as it was called, held its first sitting. ... Blood now flowed in torrents. ... A new edict was issued, affixing a heavy penalty upon all waggoners, carriers, and shipmasters, who should aid in the emigration of ‘heretics.’ They had resolved that none should escape. ... Upon the 19th of February 1568 a sentence of the Holy Office condemned all the inhabitants of the Netherlands to death as heretics. ... A proclamation of the king, dated ten days later, confirmed this decree of the Inquisition, and ordered it to be carried into instant execution, without regard to age, sex, condition. This is probably the most concise death-warrant that was ever framed. Three millions of people—men, woman, and children, were sentenced to the scaffold in three lines. Under this universal condemnation the reader will see the real spirit of popery, and what all had to expect who did not yield an absolute, though blind submission, to all her idolatries, and superstitions (Miller’s Church History, pp. 1002-1008).
Similar atrocities were being committed against Bible believers across much of Europe. The persecution of New Testament Christians has been the legacy not only of Rome, but of certain Protestant denominations as well. The Protestant Church of England has imprisoned and martyred hundreds of faithful saints of God during its illustrious history. John Bunyan wrote Pilgrim’s Progress during the 12 years he languished in Bedford prison because of his refusal to accept a license from the state church. Bunyan committed the “awful” crime of Preaching the Gospel without the permission of ecclesiastical authorities. Did he not have authority from that One who has all power in heaven and in earth (Mt. 28:18-20; Mk. 16:15)? Indeed, he did, but the old Harlot has usurped Christ’s authority unto itself. It is recorded that there were never less than 60 other “dissenters” with Bunyan in that one jail, and there were many other jails in England in those sad days. These are only tiny examples of the persecution that has raged against New Testament Christians by those who have imbibed the spirit of the Harlot.
Note: Unprecedented persecution will be unleashed against those who hold to the Word of God after the final form of the harlot church appears, supported by the satanic power of Antichrist’s government. The Lord Jesus Christ said, "Count the cost" Luke 14:28.
The association with Babylon of old identifies her with Rome (Revelation 17:5). “…mystery Babylon the great.” This connects the final apostate harlot church with the false religion established at Babel in the early history of man (Genesis. 10:8-10; 11:1-9). In other words, it is the final product of Satan’s corruption of true religion through the ages. Babel of old typifies the end-time Babylon (Revelation 17) in the following ways:
Man-made unity (Genesis 11:1). The keynote of end-time Babylon is “ecumenism.”
Worldly ambition and ingenuity (Genesis 11:4). The end-time Babylon glories in man’s ability and contrivances . . . let us make a name (for ourselves). Babylon erects impressive structures and creates great systems of religion.
Rebellion against God’s revealed will (Genesis 11:4). God had told Noah’s family to “multiply and replenish the earth” (Genesis 9:1-7). Babel was a scheme to avoid being “scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth” (Genesis 11:4). End-time Babylon is in open rebellion against the New Testament Scriptures, and has replaced the Word of God with human tradition.
Pride, lovers of self -- “let us make us a name” ((Genesis 11:4). End-time Babylon is also proud and haughty, with its impressive cathedrals, its pomp and circumstance, its boasts of apostolic succession, its worldly ways.
Idolatry. Babylon was idolatrous, and Rome adopted many idolatrous practices, such as the worship of the "Queen of Heaven" and a mystery mass wherein god is sacrificed on man’s altars.
We have seen, then, where the “church” is headed. The Prophecies of the New Testament are divided into revelations pertaining to the future of the true churches, and revelations pertaining to the apostate churches. A glorious future awaits the True Saints of God, and we who are born again through repentance and faith in the blood alone of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth should be busy serving Him, while constantly expecting the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ to take us unto Himself. When we will forever be with Him in His eternal kingdom.
The future of the false churches is a different matter altogether. The apostasy that began even during the days of the Apostles will increase until the formation of the great world harlot's religion of Revelation 17. This false "church" will rule with the antiChrist and his government for a short season and then will be Judged by the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the Judge over all mankind and over all nations. All false, unregenerate “Christians” will suffer the eternal torment of the lost in Hell forever.
