Purpose:If FireNet Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) was setup to use cell text messaging and users are in a non-cellphone coverage area, the following instructions can be used to configure the MS Authenticator app of their account so that they can authenticate to their FireNet account to access FireNet resources.Note: If the user is a Federal employee and their agency machine (laptop) is being used, they may need to establish a VPN connection to their agency domain for this setup to work. Some Federal employees have reported issues obtaining the needed QR code if not connected to their agency system.Procedure: Go to and sign in. Agency personnel may need to access from an agency computer.Select “Additional Security Information”Change the preferred verification method to “Notify me through appEnable the Authenticator app or Token option and click “Set up Authenticator app” buttonThis will place a QR code on your screen to start the pairing processInstall the Microsoft Authenticator app from your device app store.Run the Authenticator app and click the “+” icon to add an account. Select “Work or school account”.Place the QR code from step 4 above in the brackets on your device cameraThe Authenticator app is now registered and from now on can be used to verify access to FireNet on each login attempt. ................
