The instructions

Six questions

For questions 25 - 30 complete the second sentence so that it has a similar meaning to the first sentence using the word given.

Do not change the word given. You must use between two and five words including the word given.

Here is an example

I'm sure it wasn't John you saw in the video because he doesn't have a tattoo on his bottom.

HAVE It.......................John you saw in the video because he doesn't have a tattoo on his bottom

Remember:

? You can only use 2-5 words.

(It might be possible to complete the sentence with 10 words...but if you do, you'll get zero points.)

? Contractions count as 2 words.

(Can't is an abbreviation of cannot so that is just one word.)

? Spelling is important

? Write in capital letters

? Each question is worth 2 points, so you might get 1 point if your

answer is not perfect.

Let's try and complete the example

I'm sure it wasn't John you saw because he doesn't have a tattoo on his bottom.

HAVE It...CA...N...'T H...A...VE...BE...EN..John you saw because he doesn't have a tattoo on his bottom.

1. read the sentence carefully to make sure we understand it fully.

2. eliminate parts of the sentence which are in both the 1st and 2nd sentence.

3. identify the idea or ideas we have to transform:

I'm sure it wasn't John

PAST, NEGATIVE

CERTAINTY

4. Decide how to use the keyword

(+)IT MUST BE (-)IT CAN'T BE

IT CAN'T HAVE BEEN

HAVE = Possession OR AUXILIARY VERB (PRESENT PERFECT, CONDITIONALS, PAST MODALS)
