DescriptionThe Outreach Coordinator will assist with organizing, facilitating, and promoting suicide prevention and mental health awareness programming. The GA will coordinate and supervise the day-to-day operations of the Prevention, Outreach, and Education Office, home to the Mind Spa, which is located in the Memorial Union.Duties & ResponsibilitiesProvide relevant programming on a variety of evidence-based mental health-related topics, as requested by students, staff, and faculty.Integrate mental health awareness days/weeks/months into programming to raise awareness, provide education, and reduce stigma.Self-educate about mental health issues and topics relevant to the college population, including, but not limited to, suicide prevention and intervention.Hire, train, and supervise two Federal Work Study employees, and any number of volunteers and Field Placement students. Serve on the organizing committees for the annual Fresh Check Day and Tunnel of Oppression.Maintain a social media presence (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)Report any concerns (inappropriate correspondence, suicide threats, etc.) to the supervisor or appropriate resources Staff the Mind Spa/Outreach & Education Office and develop holistic health and other prevention events and campus activities.Collaborate with the Student Wellness Resource Center and other departments within the Division of Student Life as appropriate.Promote and recruit for Outreach Programs through a variety of means (e.g. , meetings with campus leaders and faculty; online/social media campaigns; email campaigns; tabling; and media contact (interviews, op-eds, networking with reporters, etc.).Facilitate and co-facilitate Suicide Prevention & other trainings and programs (e.g. Mobile Mind Spa).Collaborate and plan ongoing efforts and perform other duties at the direction of the Outreach Coordinators and other Counseling Center staff.Facilitate staff meetings, check-ins, and ongoing staff evaluations. Track Mind Spa attendance and engage in ongoing program evaluation. Provide orientation and train Mind Spa staff in occupationally necessary areas (e.g. Working with Students in Distress; Diversity; Professionalism) as well as individual areas of interest.Assist students in developing skills to enhance personal and professional development, including, but not limited to increased self-awareness, communication skills, and community engagement.Provide training opportunities for the university community (students, staff, and faculty) to develop skills in the delivery of mental health-related programming.Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree requiredMust currently be matriculated or admitted into a graduate program.
