1120140-60642500151638024384000Welcome to Childrens LiturgySunday morning is a time when our young parishioners come together with other children,to talk about their week and to listen to the gospel message in their own unique way. That is not possible just now so:Each week we will give you the following:A layout of what would normally happen at Children’s LiturgySome suggested questions to chat to the children aboutA Colouring In Sheet for younger childrenA puzzle for the older childrenSome songs to try with your childrenLinks to other resourcesPlease use this as is best for your familyAdd in songs and prayers that suit your familyBringing together Children’s Liturgy in this way is new for us so if anyone has any suggestions As to how to improve this please let us know at this e-mailfredmcconell@41681403937000-2286009398000center-76200000Childrens LiturgyFind a quiet place to come together with your children. If you have a cross and a candle set these out.If possible, print out the activity sheets in advance.33909001079500Good Morning and WelcomeExplain why we have come together this morning. We are in the middle of a very difficult time and we are settling in back to school and nursery, it’s still hard to go out with our friends or to church on Sunday. That’s why we will take a little time this morning to chat about the gospel.Maybe ask the children how they are feeling and if anything about all this change is worrying them. How is it feeling with being at school and how have things changed. Is there any worries they have around this.36728405905500Light the candleTell the children that we are lighting a candle to remind us that Jesus is with us today.355600015430500Make the sign of the crossAsk your children about their week.Has it been hard. What were the good things in their week. What helped them through the week. How do they feel now that they are seeing some of their friends again? Is it good?Try to help them understand that things will go slowly but we are getting there.Ask them to think of ways they can interact with friends outside school in a new way.2766060-35052000Saying Sorry Ask the children to close their eyesCan they think of a good time in the past week.. A time when they did something good, maybe for someone else.Ask them how that made them feel? Can they also think of a time in the week when they did something not so good.It doesn't feel good when we do things that are not so good.Lets think of all the things we may have said or done this week which we know werenot very nice. The times when we could have stood back and thought aboutwhat we were doing and maybe did something different. Now think forward to next week and see if we can try just that little bit harder.Sorry PrayerIf we have made God feel sad or disappointed with us this week, ask for his forgiveness.St Paul tells us how we should treat other people and reminds us that we should be ready to forgive.Always be ready to care for others, and to be kind and gentle. Be patient and calm and never boast or be proud of your goodness.Just as God always forgives you, so you should always be forgiving towards others.AmenEach one of us is filled with God’s spirit. If we have acted selfishlyOr unkindly towards someone else, we have done the same to God.As we sing our sorry song we ask God to forgive us and to fill our heartsand our lives with his love.Sing a sorry song (To the tune of There’s a Hole in my bucket)3832860-14986000I have come to say sorryLord Jesus, Lord JesusI have come to say sorryAnd to make a fresh start. And to ask you to help meLord Jesus, Lord JesusTo be kind and forgivingWith all of my heartEncourage them to pray for anyone in need and for anyone/anything special to them.center-68580000GospelLet us now greet the Gospel by making the sign of the cross with our thumbs:1. (touching our forehead first) saying “We think of God” 2. (now our mouth) saying “We speak of God” 3. (now our hearts) saying “We love God” The gospel today reminds us that Jesus will be with us in a special way, every time we meet together to pray.156210014005900Read the following Gospel, Gospel: Mathew 18: 18-20Jesus said to his disciples, “Listen to me: whatever you accept on earth, will be accepted in Heaven, and whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in HeavenWhen two of you agree to ask for something, then my Father will answer your prayers.Again I tell you that when two or three of you meet together in my name,Then I will be there with you”.Ask a few questions around this gospel, for example:How many usually gather at Childrens Liturgy Around 20 How many are gathered here todayAsk them to count if there are a few family membersDo you think the Holy Spirit is here with us now?Jesus told us that when only a few meet in his name, then he promises he is with them.We are here to listen to Gods word together and to pray, and we know that the Holy Spirit shares this time with us.Can you think of other times when two or more gather to prayChurch celebrations eg Mass, weddings, Baptisms etcWhen saying family prayers at homeBedtime PrayersSchool AssembliesWhy is it good for us to come together to prayWhen we meet to pray we come together as one family. Family prayer like this is very powerfulWe know God will answer prayers when a few come together to ask for the same thingWhat different forms can our prayer together take?We don’t always need to use words. We could sit quietly with a group of peopleWe can singWe can share thoughts and feelings with othersWe could play some uplifting music. We know that when we are able to come together in church again Jesus will be with us. We also know that if we spend time with our family in any form of prayer just now that Jesus is always with us.Look out for your family this week and make sure that you are an ear for any troubles they would like to share.Activity suggestionsInvite the children to write a prayer for their sisters and brothers around the world, especially those who are poor.Encourage the children to hold hands with two or three other people at home. Ask them to spend a minute together in silence with Jesus and to listen to what he is saying to them. 34975802921000Closing PrayerLord Jesus, we know that at this momentYou are here with us.As brothers and sisters in God’s family,We ask you to listen to and answerThe prayers we bring before you today.Help all the leaders And the nurses and doctorsTo do their very best for all people. Please look after my family and friends and help everyoneTo try their very best at this difficult time. Please also look after our teachers as we return to school.ResourcesIf you are interested in doing more then please look at the following: ................
