Students are responsible for any student fees. Certain pathways may have additional program costs. Students are responsible for purchasing required textbooks and supplies for each course. Textbook listings and prices can be found in the SCC bookstore and online at sccnc.edu. Course Selections: Once accepted into the Career & College Promise Program, students may only register for college courses listed on their pathway. Students may not enroll in courses outside of their pathway, including self-supporting courses. Students may change their pathways with permission from their high school principal/designee.All courses listed in the College Transfer Pathways will transfer to UNC system schools (and a select number of private colleges and universities in NC) under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement. All courses in the Career and Technical Education pathways count toward the college certificate, diploma, or degree programs.Course Dropping/Withdrawal: Prior to dropping or withdrawing from a course, a student must receive permission from the high school principal/designee. It is the student’s responsibility to drop or withdraw from a course. To avoid a transcript entry for a dropped course, students must drop prior to the 10% point of the course. Students desiring to withdraw from a course with a grade of W, may do so until the day before the exam period begins. Columbus and Whiteville City Schools have their own requirements regarding dropping college courses. Students should check with the high school counselor prior to making any course changes.Future Financial Aid Eligibility: All courses taken as part of CCP become part of a student’s permanent college record. A “W” or “F” in any course can negatively impacts a student’s future eligibility for financial aid. Continued Eligibility: To maintain eligibility in CCP, students must be progressing toward high school graduation and maintain at least a 2.0 GPA in their college courses (after 2 courses).Class Attendance: SCC instructors have attendance policies that are clearly presented in their course syllabus. A student’s failure to adhere to those policies could result in an instructor initiated withdrawal from the course.Upswing Tutoring: SCC offers free online tutorial services through Upswing, an online student retention and tutoring company.
