ESPA?OL I ?BIENVENIDOS! 2020 - 2021This year you will begin your journey of learning the Spanish language and using it in simulated real-life situations. You will prepare to use the language in your daily life and I encourage you to try when the opportunity arises. In virtual learning and in the classroom, you will be expected to use Spanish on a daily basis. We will do activities which will enhance your abilities to use the language in speaking, listening, writing, and reading. There will be daily quizzes that are more knowledge based and others that are performance based. A performance-based assessment at the end of each unit will be given to demonstrate what you can do with the language.Have high expectations of yourself and the teacher and do not give up in moments of frustration. Think of me as your language coach, modeling the skills and helping you along the way as you practice. Like an athletic coach who makes an athlete run extra laps, I will push you to do better in this course. Remember, however, that in the end you, and only you, are responsible for your own success.COURSE OUTLINEDuring the first semester, we will learn about the Spanish culture and the people and places where Spanish is spoken. You will use the language to communicate basic survival phrases in the classroom. You will get to know one another, describe friends and family members and exchange personal information. The second semester you will focus on your daily routines, likes/dislikes, and your vacation plans. You will discuss your daily activities, your favorite foods, your shopping habits and ideal vacation. By the end of the year, you will be able to use the language to function in real world scenarios.
