The Special Projects Coordinator- School Based Community Organizer (SPC-SBCO) is responsible for developing community support and input into efforts to build a school based health center at Shining Mountain Elementary and Thompson Elementary in the Bethel School District. Efforts will include developing relationships with partner organizations. Works with school staff, parent volunteers and students through surveys, parent meetings and health fairs at both schools. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:Recruit parents, students and school staff to work on the projectBuild a steering committee of community organizationsHelp to develop clinic planDevelop survey’s and hold meetings to gather community inputDevelop and carry out health fairsBuild partnerships with community institutionsLead clinic development efforts and develop goals, logic models, strategies and business plans.Represent Community Health Care at various community events, meetings, and media eventsServe as a credible source of knowledge and information to community members who desire to be more involved and educated on various effortsCoordinate meetings, events and activities for youth and partner agenciesEncourage participation from people in the community.Work collaboratively with organizations providing technical assistance to the effortUtilize online organizing tools and social mediaOther duties as assigned.PCMH REQUIREMENTS:Recognizes that the focus of care is the patient and understands patient participation and control of their care is our priority. Cultural diversity awareness, sensitivity, and competency, including the ability to successfully work with, and relate to individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds.Ability to organize and prioritize work and manage multiple priorities. Ability to work under pressure, handle numerous interruptions without losing the attention to details of the task interrupted, be detail oriented, and have excellent cognitive and communications skills.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, management, staff, and contacts outside the organization.Ability to work flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s Degree in related field. Relevant community organizing/grant coordination experience requiredEquivalent education and/ or experience may be substituted.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Experience in health care setting.Bilingual capacity.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:The physical demands listed below are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Hearing: Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.Speaking: Must be able to communicate clearly to patients/customers in person and over the telephone.Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screensMovement: Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity to perform the requisite clerical services. Requires repetitive hand movements and most hours will be spent sitting.
