I will learn about TEXTURE. I CAN make a background for my sunflower using blue- a COOL colour. I can use warm colours to make painted paper for a flower.I can add texture by scraping the wet pint to make patterns and add another colour on top by dabbing with varied implements and texture “wands”. Painted Paper flower Eric Carle style. Share the book (or video of story) “The Tiny Seed.” Discuss Eric Carle’s techniques of making texture (implied) by painting paper, adding layers and scraping the wet paint with various implements or dabbing with implements over the top of the first colour.Students make a cool colour background by using blue food dye wash (first add the word “Spring” repeated around the edges in white crayon- for crayon resist)A second sheet of paper is painted in a warm colour and texture added by dabbing with texture wands in another colour or scraping the wet paint to add pattern. The Tiny Seed Eric Carle 9 min Eric Carle : -first few minutes- from 2:15 making the painted paperPaint- warm & cool colours A3 Cartridge paperTexture wandsExplore & Express Explore ideas, experiences, observations and imagination and express them through subject matter in visual artworks they create? I can cut a stem and leaves to glue down first.I can arrange and overlap the petals in a circle.I can add a contrast/ different colour circle over the circle of petals for the centre of the flower. Students draw a chosen petal shape on card and cut that out to use as a template. They trace the petal shape repeatedly on the back of the warm colour painted paper. Students draw a circle just above halfway up the background page. They cut a stem and leaves from green painted paper. They now cut out their petal shapes, arrange and glue onto the cool colour background, arranged around the drawn circle shape. For the centre of the flower, students swap their scrap of painted paper to get a slightly contrasting colour. Assessment: RubricI can name and use warm and cool colours.I made painted paper by painting a whole paper and adding “texture” in another colour.I traced and cut out a petal shape for my flower.I arranged and overlapped the petals of my flower.Rubric below:SPRING FLOWER COLLAGE Name:_______________________________________________________________ Class:___________HOW I FELT ABOUT THE STEPS WHEN MAKING MY ARTWORK:Yes!
