887730952500 ACA Sprint Olympic Development Program (ODP) Elite Athlete Support2019ACA CANOE/KAYAK SPRINT OLYMPIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (ODP) ELITE ATHLETE SUPPORTPurpose:The Olympic Development Program (ODP) serves as a forum to identify and develop athlete’s to represent the USA at domestic and international Sprint competitions. The foundation of the program is to identify athlete’s and pick teams with the view of supporting and encouraging those Sprint canoe and kayak athlete’s who have shown the potential and the desire to qualify for the 2020, 2024 and 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Teams. Part of this program is Elite Athlete Support which aims to offer financial support in the form of reimbursement of International Travel, Competition and Training Expenses.Goals:Offer financial support to the USA highest performing athletes to lessen the burden of the costs of International travel, Competition and training expenses. Provide an incentive for High Performance results from the USA’s top Sprint Canoe Kayak athletes.Provide a means to allocate funding to athlete’s for training and travel expenses should funding become available.Process:To Obtain ODP and ACA Financial Support an athlete must be:A. Must be a SPRINT COMPETITION member in good standing of the American Canoe Association (ACA) and must be a member of a recognized USA Sprint Canoe Kayak Club. ?B.? You must have submitted the $75.00 ODP Application Fee for ODP along with your ODP Athlete Data Form and be a part of the ODP.C.? Must be a USA Citizen or Permanent resident meeting USOC and ICF rules for competition. You must hold a Passport that will be valid for at least 6 months after August 2019.D.? You must be at least 15 years old in order to be eligible for Elite Athlete Support.A Podium Performance in an Olympic Event (Gold, Silver or Bronze Medal) at one of the following Regatta’s will make an Elite level athlete eligible for ODP Financial Support: Olympic Hopes Regatta, Junior World Championships, U23 World Championships, Senior World Cup, Senior Pan American Championships or Games, Senior World Championships or the Olympic Games. The amount of Financial Support will ultimately depend on the amount of available funds in Sprint Accounts and will be decided upon by an Elite Athlete Support committee comprised of the Competition Director, High Performance Manager, Sprint Competition Chair and an Athletes Representative. In any given Year Elite Athlete Support in NOT guaranteed an no contract is entered into with any athlete with regards to the disbursement of Elite Athlete Financial Support. A Gold Medal performance at any of the above named Regattas in an Olympic Event will result in an athlete being eligible for up to 100% reimbursement of their Flight and Accreditation. A Silver Medal performance at any of the above named Regattas in an Olympic Event will result in an athlete being eligible for up to 66.6% reimbursement of their Flight and Accreditation. A Bronze Medal performance at any of the above named Regattas in an Olympic Event will result in an athlete being eligible for up to 33.3% reimbursement of their Flight and Accreditation.If an athlete qualifies a “Quota Spot” for the Olympic Games in Tokyo at the 2019 Senior World Championships or 2020 Pan American Championships then they will be eligible for up to 100% of their flight and accreditation expenses regardless of whether or not they were on the Podium at these two regattas.Any member of the Elite Athlete Support Committee will recuse themselves from any selection process where there is a conflict of interest with regard to a particular athlete. (for example family members, fiscal relationships, etc.) ................
