IBM SPSS Statistics Free Trial Download and Installation

1. Click here to register for the trial version of SPSS

2. You will need to enter in the following details

a. UTS Email address

b. First name

c. Surname

d. Password (This password is unique and is not linked to your UTS account)

3. Once entered click Next

4. For additional information select the following for each of the questions:

a. Are you a student? Select Yes

b. I agree to be contacted by an IBM Partner for special student pricing? Select No

5. Enter in your contact number for Phone

6. Once done click Next

7. A Verification email will be sent from ibmacct@iam. which can take several

minutes to be sent to your inbox, once received enter in the verification code

8. Click on Create Account

9. You will be on the Products page click on Download

10. You will now have 3 options to choose from:

a. IBM SPSS Statistics Subscription trial for Microsoft Windows 64 bit

b. IBM SPSS Statistics Subscription trial for Microsoft Windows 32-bit, or

c. IBM SPSS Statistics Subscription trial for MAC OS

11. To check whether you are using a 32-bit or 64-bit Windows system you will need to do the

following:

a. In the taskbar next to the Start button (windows icon) type in about your pc in the

search field then press enter

b. A new window will appear and where it displays System type will display 32 or 64-bit

operating system

12. Once you determine what version of Windows you are using you will need to click on

download for the appropriate version and then click on Save.

Students will need to click on the ¡°Download¡± button under the relevant downloads and click on

save

Please note that there are instructions just above the Download button that specifies:

After the file has downloaded, use Windows Explorer to browse to the saved .exe file location.

Right-click on the saved .exe file and select Run ad Administrator

I¡¯ve noticed that the download process slowed down my computer ¨C all my opened application

seemed to lag

Download process took around 7-10 minutes (ADSL2+ connected via wifi)

13. Once Downloaded you will need to navigate to where the .exe file is located, right click on

the .exe file and select ¡°Run as Administrator¡±

a. If you are not able to see the setup window after you run the setup you will need to

minimise all the applications you have open

14. In the setup window click on the check box for ¡°I agree¡± and then click on Continue

15. Click on Continue again to continue the installation

NOTE: If you receive an error message on the first attempt installing SPSS, close all SPSS windows

and go back to the .exe file you downloaded and rerun the setup as an administrator. When you get

to the Destination page in the setup click on Choose to change the installation path to a location on

your desktop and then click continue.
