Update for Ministry Sign Up Weekend:

God is Calling; What will your Answer Be? This weekend we continue to encourage you to share gifts with our Parish. Take a Ministry Sheet located at all entrances of the churches.  Please return your Ministry Sheets by Placing it in the Collection Basket, Giving it to an Usher, Bringing it to the Parish Center or Handing it to Lisa Neglia after Mass.

Could one of your hidden gifts be singing?  The Parish Choir is a close-knit ministry who serves the Lord each week from God's altar.  You do not need to have a solo voice. If you would like more information, please fill out a Ministry Sign-Up sheet, talk to one of our choir members or contact Lisa Neglia at lisa.neglia@ or 561-3020.

WE NEED GIFT BEARERS: What a beautiful symbol of love to remember a deceased loved one ! We invite you to present the gifts to the altar during Mass.

Ushers are waiting to help you. Please see any usher before Mass and tell them you want to honor your loved one(s) in the Offertory Procession.

Call to Ministry Prayer

Lord God, You alone are the source of every good gift, of the vast array of our universe, and the mystery of each human life.

We praise You and we thank You for Your great power and Your tender faithful love.

Everything we are and everything we have is your gift, and after having created us, you have given us into the keeping of your son, Jesus Christ.

Fill our minds with His truth and our hearts with His love, that in His spirit we may be bonded together in a community of faith, a parish family, a caring people.

In the name and spirit of Jesus, we commit ourselves to be good stewards of the gifts entrusted to us, to share in our time, our talent and our material gifts as an outward sign of the treasure we hold in Jesus.   Amen.

5th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME–FEBRUARY 8, 2015

–APRIL 13, 2014

- SEPTEMBER 18, 2011

, 2011

Dear Friends:

Job is in the throes of the deepest despair. He has just lost everything: his house, his family, and his health. He longs for death to end it all. We do not hear it in this passage, but what ultimately keeps him going is his faith in God. While tested, Job does not once curse God. He does however question God. He demands a hearing, his “day in court.” The thought of that hearing before God becomes Job’s hope to live. God does offer healing to Job; but only when Job realizes that only God can be God and no one else, not even Job. God’s healing through Jesus is offered to Simon Peter’s mother-in-law. Her response is one of discipleship—loving service. Paul offers loving service, slavish service, in order that all should receive the gospel and be saved by it. Our Baptism offers to all of us a golden opportunity. With the Holy Spirit dwelling within us to guide us, we are called to not only experience for ourselves the hope and promise of eternal communion with God, but also to share with others this hope and promise of eternal communion. We share it by both words and actions. Words of love, of compassion and consolation, and actions giving flesh to that love offer hope to others that they are not alone in their suffering and pain. Our compassion and empathy greatly diminish the pain of others. Our compassion and empathy when done in the name of Jesus Christ gives witness to the power of his love in the world. In living our discipleship, we help others to find hope in theirs.

With Peace and Joy!

Estimados amigos:
