MOTOR CITY BRASS BAND’S HOLIDAY CONCERT

Sounds of the Season

Detroit, MI (December 5, 2006) – The Motor City Brass Band (MCBB), a local 40-member British-style brass band, presents its popular holiday concert, “Sounds of the Season,” on Sunday, December 17 at 3:00 pm at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Avenue in Dearborn.

In the spirit of the season, the Motor City Brass Band is encouraging audience members to bring canned or boxed food and men’s socks and underwear to the concert. These items will be collected in the lobby.

The concert celebrates the holiday season with music from many different cultures and traditions, including Rhapsody for Hanukkah, a stirring potpourri of songs associated with Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights.

Also featured will be Matunda Ya Kwanzaa, written by jazz trumpeter Bill McGee. The song celebrates the principals of Kwanzaa, an African-American and Pan-African holiday celebrating seven basic values of African culture.

The 60 voices of the Madrigal Chorale of Southfield will join MCBB for a moving arrangement of Silent Night by Craig Courtney and a rousing arrangement of Joy to the World by John Rutter. Hailed as “one of metro Detroit’s artistic jewels,” the Madrigal Chorale, will be under the leadership of Artistic Director Robert A. Martin.

Motor City’s flashy arrangement of Jingle Bells, an audience sing-a-long, and a pre-concert performance by music students from the Dearborn Schools will help the audience get in the holiday mood.

Concert tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students, and FREE for children 12 & under.  They are available by calling the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center (FCPAC) box office at 313-943-2354.  The FCPAC is located at 15801 Michigan Avenue in Dearborn.  More information can be found at .
