General Summary of Function/Purpose of PositionThe incumbent manages the day-to-day operation of the Second District central property room, which is a unique worksite within the department.? The person in this position serves as the district point of contact in evidence collection and management and provides training to other members.? This person also reviews the work of others to ensure accuracy and compliance with department policy and relevant law; conduct research and makes policy recommendations; and serves as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders.??15. The total percentage of all duties performed must equal 100 percent.Duty 1General Summary:Percentage:50Assist in overall operation of the Second District Central property room.Individual tasks related to the duty:Operate the district property room in accordance with department policies and procedures.Assist with ensuring the property room operates in a manner consistent with the department's worksite inspection manual.Collect seized evidence from district worksites, ensuring proper packaging labeling, and documentation.Transport evidence to and from district worksites using a department vehicle.Package, store, and process evidence in support of district worksite operations.Assist with district and worksite property room audits.Track and account for evidence stored in, or in transit to or from, the district property room.Prepare evidence for laboratory analysis and deliver evidence to laboratories on behalf of worksites.Prepare appropriate paperwork related to stored property.Dispose of property in accordance with department procedures, including destruction, auction, and release to citizens or other agencies.Prepare written reports, including supplemental incident reports.Duty 2General Summary:Percentage:20Serve as the district point of contact in evidence collection and management.??Individual tasks related to the duty:Assist with planning, developing, and conducting programs for staff development and training.??Through regular review and analysis, maintain expertise in laws relating to evidence management and chain of custody, and ensure district personnel remain updated on changes and current trends.??Answer inquiries regarding the application of rules, regulations, and policies.??Serve as a liaison between district personnel and prosecuting officials, laboratories, other law enforcement agencies, and the public.??Duty 3General Summary:Percentage:15Supervise the administrative aspects of the district's evidence handling processes.Individual tasks related to the duty:Ensure confidentiality of sensitive investigative case information.Perform quality control reviews to ensure strict adherence to policy and procedure.Review written reports and other evidence-related documentation to ensure compliance with policy and local procedures.??Monitor and evaluate submissions of evidence and documents, reviewing for factual accuracy and proper packaging.??Assist command staff with determining work priorities.???Duty 4General Summary:Percentage:10Research and development of policy and procedure.Individual tasks related to the duty:Conduct special studies and surveys in order to improve efficiency.Conduct research in support of proposals for revisions in rules and procedures.Design procedure manuals and forms.Review and interpret changes in policy and its impact to operations; write and revise procedures to accommodate changes and to ensure consistency in form and pile and monitor statistical and other programmatic data.Plan, develop, and conduct programs for staff development and training.??Duty 5General Summary:Percentage:5Provide general support to district operations.Individual tasks related to the duty:Maintain the district's fixed asset inventory, including supporting paperwork.Assist worksites with processing asset forfeitures, in accordance with department policies and laws.Serve as a member of worksite inspection teams.Other tasks as assigned by the district commander or designee.16.
