2007 Excellence in Corporate Philanthropy Awards

Nonprofit Partner Award Category

In February 2008, the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy (CECP) will recognize a nonprofit organization with a CECP Excellence Award. The award is presented annually to a nonprofit that encourages and facilitates corporate giving through strong strategic partnerships with one or more companies. The awards luncheon, which also includes the presentation of two corporate awards, will be hosted by CECP in recognition of National Corporate Philanthropy Day - February 25, 2008. excellenceawards

ELIGIBILITY

• Nonprofits must be nominated by a company for a specific program and may be nominated by another company for the same program or a different program.

• Companies may submit up to two nonprofit nominations.

• To be nominated, an organization must have an annual operating budget equal to or exceeding $500,000.

• Award nominees are restricted to U.S.-based nonprofit organizations with a 501(c)(3) status classification, working through active programs to improve the overall well-being of society at large, and/or domestic and international communities.

• Prior award recipients are not eligible to be nominated for 4 years. Previous winners include:

(2006) National Academy Foundation / nominated by Citi and Pearson

(2005) KaBOOM! / nominated by The Home Depot

(2004) Jumpstart / nominated by Pearson and Starbucks

(2003) The Children’s Health Fund / nominated by GlaxoSmithKline

PROGRAM CHARACTERISTICS

Nominations should be submitted for nonprofit organizations that work with a company on programs that have continued into 2007. The nominated organization’s program should demonstrate some, or all, of the following:

• Long-term partnership with a company that is uniquely qualified in reason and/or in resources to address the nonprofit organization’s mission statement and target issue(s)

• Effective leverage of the company’s resources (cash, product, employee volunteerism, intellectual capital, etc.) to derive maximum impact for both the company and society

• Focused measurement components that demonstrate societal impact and value to the partner company

• Sustainability/innovative mechanisms for maintaining or growing the company’s support for the initiative(s)

• Initiatives that have a long-term impact on target issues and beneficiaries

APPLICATION PROCESS

• Corporate nominator and nonprofit partner should complete their respective sections of the application

AWARDS PRESENTATION – CEO/DIRECTOR MUST ACCEPT AWARD

• The nonprofit CEO/Executive Director is required to accept the Award in person at the luncheon on National Corporate Philanthropy Day - February 25, 2008 in New York City. If they are not able to attend, an alternate winner will be selected. Confirmation of attendance will take place following the judging process in late November.

• The winner is expected to participate in the NYSE Bell Ringing Ceremony on February 25, 2008.

• The winning nonprofit receives a cash grant in the amount of $25,000 and the traditional Tiffany crystal globe. CECP will work with nonprofits and nominating companies to identify press opportunities.
