Job Summary and Mission

This job contributes to Starbucks success by managing a team of purchasing professionals that develop, implement, and manage global purchasing strategies. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: Leadership - Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together: - Identifies and communicates key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a successful attitude, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results. - Supports the implementation of company programs to ensure the success of Starbucks. Planning and Execution - Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results: - Develops purchasing team goals to support departmental and company goals. - Develops strategies, schedules and work assignments to ensure that projects meet time and budget goals. - Leads strategic planning activities to ensure long term supply and cost savings. - Leads the design, implementation and utilization of measurement tools to evaluate business process effectiveness and supplier performance. - Plans and manages business unit/department processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with business goals and objectives. - Prepares, communicates and educates business partners and team on changes in procurement policies and practices. Business Requirements - Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities: - Assesses critical information required to make effective decisions or recommendations for process changes. - Develops and implements reporting processes to communicate project status to project teams and other business partners. - Ensures that processes and systems improve service, gain efficiencies or improve quality and reduce costs. - Leads the design and implementation of global procurement strategies to support business requirements; to include sourcing, commodity management, negotiation, contracting, inventory control, cost and capacity analysis while aligning with corporate social responsibility inititiatives. - Leads the design and implementation of procurement processes and foundational procurement systems

across the global supply chain. - Manages strategic relationships with business units, functional areas and suppliers to support overall business requirements. - Manages the process for evaluating bids, negotiating contracts and monitoring supplier performance. - Provides technical or product expertise to suppliers and internal customers regarding commodities, products or services. - Uses problem-solving and alternatives analysis methodologies to assess the financial and strategic impact of business initiatives. Assesses critical information required to make effective decisions or recommendations for process changes. Partner Development & Team Building - Providing partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams: - Challenges and inspires partners to achieve business results. - Conducts and ensures the completion of performance reviews. - Ensures partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements. - Oversees training and development of partners directly and indirectly managed and makes effective staffing decisions. - Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve partner, business and customer results.

Summary of Experience

- Direct global buying experience to include sourcing strategy and negotiations in like commodity - Performance metrics development and root cause analysis - Project management, including project budget management - Cost management, including cost reduction or budget management - Managing teams, multiple purchasing functions and developing partners - Supply Chain Management fundamentals
